09/29/21 - No update from VFS. passport portal: Your application has reached at the Embassy/Consulate and is currently under review process

Checking for update every day but none so far.

10/07/21 - No udpate

Sharing my passport renewal experience, this forum is very helpful.

Excellent service provided by VFS and DC Embassy. It took just 3 weeks in normal mode.

9/10/21: VFS received
9/14/21: VFS processed and sent to embassy at DC
9/15/21: DC embassy received and under review
9/17/21: Passport print initiated
9/28/21: Passport print completed
9/29/21: Passport handed over to VFS
9/30/21: Dispatched from VFS
10/1/21: Received both old and new passports

I availed VFS provided FedEx courier service.

My timeline :

09/09 : Sent application to VFS
09/10 : Application received at VFS
09/14 : VFS Email that application is received
09/15 : Application under process at VFS
09/16 : Application processed and sent to Embassy
09/17 : Application received at Embassy
09/20 : Under Review at embassy
09/22 : Passport print initiated
09/23 : Passport print complete
09/24 : Passport print complete and will be returned
09/27 : VFS Received docs
09/27 : automatic Fedex tracking info sent
09/28 : Received passport

No police verification was requested. Provided Aadhar number and aadhar address matches indian address given. So maybe that helped.
Chase Bank notarizes all docs except i797 approval. So that has to be done at UPS or some other place.

9/7/21 - Application sent thru FedEx
9/8/21 - FedEx delivered package
9/8/21 - Email from VFS. Your application is received. You will receive an update once it is processed at VFS. Avg processing time at Mission is 4-6 weeks except Tatkal cases
9/8/21 - Another email from VFS. Asking for Change of appearance & Signature affidavit. There was no change in appearance or signature, so I didn't include it in the original application package.
9/9/21 - Requested documents (Change of appearance & Signature affidavit) sent thu FedEx overnight
9/10/21 - FedEx delivered package @10am
9/10/21 - No update from VFS
9/11/21 - No update from VFS
9/12/21 - No update from VFS
9/13/21 - Email from VFS. Your application is received. You will receive an update once it is processed at VFS. Avg processing time at Mission is 4-6 weeks except Tatkal cases
9/14/21 - No update from VFS
9/15/21 - Email from VFS.We have ‘Received’ your Application and your application is now ‘Under Process’ at Chicago and will be submitted to the Mission for decision making.
9/15/21 - Online Track Your application still shows VFS is waiting for the affidavits.. that I had already sent on 9/9.
9/16/21 - Email from VFS.Your Application has been ‘Processed’ at the VFS India Consular application Centre and currently is ‘In-Transit‘ to the Embassy of India/Consulate General of India for decision making.
9/16/21 - Online status changed to "Your application has reached at the Embassy/Consulate and is currently under review process"
9/17/21 - Passport Seva website status: Passport has been printed.
9/17/21 - Passport Seva website status: Passport is printed and will be delivered shortly.
9/17/21 - Passport Seva website status: Passport has been handed over by the Embassy/Consulate to the OSP executive for further dispatch to the applicant.
9/20/21 - Email from VFS. Your Application has been reviewed by the Embassy of India/ Consulate General of India & will be dispatched using the courier service you had opted.
9/20/21 - Online Status: Your document (s) is dispatched using the return label purchased or sent by you. If using VFS courier, please check for email from "[email protected]" for details.If you have used your prepaid label then track the status via the website of the concerned service provider.Note: Information is printed on the documents as what you have filled while completing the online Form on the Government Portal. If you have made mistakes while filling up the Govt. form then VFS Indian Consular application Centres wont be in a position to assist. To get the corrections done, you should contact the Embassy of India or its Consulate directly based on your Consular Jurisdiction.
9/21/21 - Received both old and new passport thru FedEx. All look good.

While renewing my passport, I see that in my current passport parents names are written in <LastName><FirstName> format. However, when I am filling the Government renewal application form it is coming as <FirstName><LastName>.

Has anyone experienced similar issue? How did you solve this?

It could have been delivered in less than 3 weeks if passport print issue did not happen. They do a good job.

• 08/13 - Passport application along with fee details have been received. The same is under processing at Embassy/Consulate.
• 08/16 - Passport application is under review at India Embassy/Consulate
• 08/19 - Print has been initiated.
• 08/20 - Passport has been printed.
• 08/24 - Passport application is under review at India Embassy/Consulate.
• 08/26 - Passport has been printed.
• 08/30 - Sent an email to VFS seeing no movement post passport print for 4 days.
• 09/03 - VFS responded that they can not do anything on this matter as passport is still with embassy.
• 09/03 - Sent an email to embassy and explained them the situation.
• 09/07 - Embassy responded back asking if I got the passport.
• 09/07 - I responded back - 'Negative'.
• 09/08 - I sent one more email asking for ETA.
• 09/08 - Embassy responded back that will dispatch passport today (09/08)
• 09/10 - No movement yet - sent one more email to Embassy asking for updates as passport was still not dispatched
• 09/13 - Escalated to higher officials in SFO consulate (Emails are in Consular section of website)
• 09/13 - Got a response that passport was printed but failed quality check so it had to reprint. It took sometime but ready for dispatch today.
• 09/13 - Got emails and notifications from VFS that they have received and dispatched passport through FedEx.
• 09/15 - Received passport through FedEx.

This is my 2 time India passport renewal, I am adding the steps and my experience,

08/16/2021 - VFS verified the documents and updated as sent documents to Embassy of India
09/01/2021 - Passport print is initiated, and saw the Email Police Verification sent to India address.
09/03/2021 - Police visited to Indian address came from commissioner of police between 11.30Am to 12.30Am, door locked no one exists
09/04/2021 - Police visited again at the same time- door locked no one exists
09/05/2021 - This time police visited at 9Am, this time some one at home, they took police officer number, I called the officer he asked to provide the documents(Aadhar card, PAN card, 2- neighbors reference)
09/06/2021- Passport application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate.

The Following is the timeline i went through for re-issuing an Indian Passport (General) with Chicago Embassy through VFS International by post :

08/24/21 -- Submitted the Documents along with the Shipping Label to local Fedex Store.

08/26/21 -- Status email : " We have 'Received' your application and your application is now 'Under Process' at Chicago and will be submitted to the Mission for decision making.

08/27/21 -- Status email : " Your Application has been 'Processed' at the VFS India Consular Application Centre and currently is 'In - Transit' to the Embassy of India/Consulate General of India for Decision making."

08/30/21 -- Status email : " Initiation of Police Verification Request(s) for your Passport Application File (No . US7............)

09/01/21 -- Status email : " Your Application has been reviewed by the Embassy of India / Consulate General of India & will be dispatched using the courier service you had opted. "

09/02/21 -- Fedex Tracking Number received in email.

09/02/21 -- Status email : " Your document (s) is dispatched using the return label purchased or sent by you. If using VFS Courier, please check for email from " [email protected]" for details.

09/03/21 -- Received old and new passport.

Total Cost -- About 127 $ (including shipping).

It’s been almost 4 months since I sent the passport for renewal.
 

Your application has reached at the Embassy/Consulate and is currently under review process Seeing this for 2 months now . Expiration is on September 22/2021. How could I contact someone?

It took 3 weeks for passport renewal process. Submitted to VFS and was forwarded to Embassy in a day and the passport was under review for 2 weeks and after that status changed to passport will be printed. During this time recieved an email for police verification since I added Indian address, Police went the same day and my brother who lives at the address completed the verification process. The same day status changed to passport application is under review at the embassy/consulate. This status worried me because i thought there is something wrong. I emailed the consulate on Monday and they replied saying my passport is printed and this step is just one of the procedures that the consulate does. The next day status changed to passport printed and the very next day status changed to passport will be delivered to VFS. Recieved today after a total of 3 weeks. No additional documents requested. Overall smooth process. Happy to answer any questions.
