Tatkal Application at Chicago

My passport was stolen in a cafe last week and I am scheduled to travel to India on March 14th for my H1B stamping, with my visa appointment scheduled on March 18th.

I have applied for a takal service for re-issue of passport.
The status as of yesterday (March 6th) was "Under process at Embassy" . I would positively need the passport in hand by March 13th. That means I have five working days remaining that I can afford to spare.

In this time of anxiety, it would be of a lot of help to hear about takal application experiences and how long it took to receive the passport in hand after submitting the application.

I was informed at the time of submission that I would receive my passport within 3 to 5 business days. But I am apprehensive after reading the experiences below, that that stipulated time provided by CKGS may not be something to count on after all.

Any input is appreciated. Thank you!

Indian Passport renewal at Sfo timeline
I have submitted my passport for renewal by walk in at sfo using regular service. It is under process since 13th feb. Does anyone know what the timelines are nowadays? When I emailed ckgs, they said there are some technical delays at sfo which are hampering the passport service. Is there any way I can quicken the process? I have other applications that are stuck because of this

Passport application Notary docuuments?
Hi Gurus,

I went to local bank for Notarizing color copy of my Drivers license and GC. However, the Notary in WA state does not stamp directly on the photocopy. Instead the Notary gave me a certified copy (another sheet) and stamped on it and asked me to sign and date on the photocopy in her presence. Is this acceptable by CKGS/Consulate for passport renewal. Or does the Notary stamp needs to be on the photocopy itself? I am confused. Thanks.

passport renewal in Washington DC
Hi All,

I have a passport that was issued in USA which is expiring. Can you please clarify the following questions:
1) How long is the wait once the passport has been submitted in normal processing. I have read horrible stories that due to the system upgrade it is taking more than 6 weeks etc. in DC.
2) I have an urgent business travel coming in two weeks, can I use Tatkal services to get my passport renewed.
3) Sample Tatkal request form that needs to be used for requesting tatkal.

I really appreciate all the help!

Dealy in DC passport renewal due to system upgrades?
My passport status was updated on Feb 1 to say it was sent to the embassy for processing. No updates yet.

I emailed CKGS about the status and here is what they said. This is really bad and sad - they should have told this earlier on their website as I have international travel coming up soon:
Please be informed that due to up-gradation in the Embassy system, processing time for the Indian passport applications in Washington DC is prolonged to 6 weeks. Please expect a delay in response.

Request you continue tracking your application status on the website. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.

I am not sure when to expect my passport at this point. I hope its in the next 2 weeks and in time for my travel.

Passport renewal how many photos
hello Gurus, please help with the below questions:
1) How many total photos I need to send with the passport renewal (SFO jurisdiction, Normal process).
1 ea for Passport application form (Indian Govt. form)
1 ea for Change of appearance.
2 ea additional photos per checklist. While the bottom bullet points in the checklist instructions says 3 total to send. so it is not adding the math.
If I follow the checklist, it is 5 in total or 4 total.

2) To add spouse name to passport, do I need to send marriage certificate? Even though checklist did not ask for it.
