Finally received the update I was waiting for
I submitted my Son's (16 year) passport renewal application to NY VFS center for 10 years. It was different experience this time due to COVID-19 and also additional police verification process, which I never experienced before.
I prepared the application and sent via FEDEX on : 3/24/21
Application Delivered to VFS : 3/29/21 (Because their office was closed between 3/25/21 to 3/28/21 due to COVID)
Package has been received by VFS email on : 3/30/21 (no update between 3/26 - 3/30)
Another email saying - Package has been received by VFS on : 4/4/21
We have ‘Received’ your Application and your application is now ‘Under Process’ at New York and will be submitted to the Mission for decision making - email on : 4/7/21
Your Application has been ‘Processed’ at the VFS India Consular application Centre and currently is ‘In-Transit‘ to the Embassy of India/Consulate General of India for decision making - email on: 4/10/21
Initiation of Police Verification Request(s) for your Passport Application File (No. YYYY XX) - email on : 4/21/21
Received call from local police station in India on 4/22/21 around 1.35 AM EST on my India cell number, didn't pick up as I was snoozing
My Nephew received a call from same police man to do the inquiry (as police man knew my nephew) on 4/22/21 around same time
Police verification happened at my village on 4/23/21 (at my brother's house, we still use that address for any Indian correspondence, It's also on my Son's Aadhar card. I already sent my Son's birth certificate, Aadhar card, Passport copy and a Picture to my nephew)
Police man called my nephew again on 4/24/21 to send a copy of passport application ( I sent to my nephew and he fwd to police station)
Your Application has been reviewed by the Embassy of India/ Consulate General of India & will be dispatched - email on : 4/27/21 around 11.00 am EST
Your document (s) is dispatched using the return label purchased or sent by you. If using VFS courier, please check for email from "[email protected]" for details - email on : 4/27/21 around 1.30 pm EST
Currently FEDEX shows delivery on : 4/28/21 by 8 pm EST

Passport renewal is in same status rom more than 2 weeks
My Passport renewal is in same status for more than 15 days at the SFO Consulate location. It Says :
Your application has reached at the Embassy and is currently under review process.
Can anyone guide how much time it takes or anyone in similar situtation ??

Passport Renewal Atlanta, GA
Hi all,
I submitted a passport renewal in late February for my Indian passport ending in May.
When I submitted my application, it was as an F1 student but that F1 has since been terminated and I’ve begun my AOS process for a green card. My passport application was pending for a long time and I just got a call asking to come in for an in person interview. Do you think I’ll be in trouble for not calling and informing of the change in my status?

Passport Renewal - Atlanta
I submitted my passport renewal application to Atlanta consulate. I noticed that on Sat (04/17), automated email was sent out for police verification initiation. I noticed the status of my application is changed to Passport printed. Does it mean police verification has been completed?

Passport Renewal / Normal Processing - SFO
Applied for 3 passport renewal
- 1 Adults, 2 Minor
- No Indian Address change / New Passport will have US address
- 24 Feb, VFS received all 3 applications
- 5 March , Applications Reviewed by VFS and sent to Embassy for processing
- 8 March / 9 March , Embassy started processing
- 15 April, All passports delivered
Did not tweet, did not call VFS, no email query.
Couple of things to notice
- Status kept changing back and forth while passports were getting processed at Embassy
- Received No police verification call
General Observation - If you are applying for passport renewal normal, at least consider 7-8 weeks total processing time.

Passport not being delivered since 10 days
10 days ago my status on the govt website changed to : Your passport has been printed and being forwarded to Embassy/Consulate. The Embassy/Consulate will contact you once they receive the passport for dispatch.
Getting worried now. Doesn’t take so long to deliver reading other people’s experiences. Happens on the same day usually.
No updates from the VFS portal either. Still says sent to embassy for processing

Passport Status back to Review after Print Initiation?
My passport renewal at SF application status went from "Print has been initiated" back to "Under review". Not sure why this backward transition?
