L1B (Blanket) visa experience
I got my L1B visa approved on the 22nd of July, 2016. The whole process was very smooth.

Tips:
1. If you are applying for L1B, be very very clear about your specialized skills. You should be able to explain in simple plain English of what your specialized skills are.
2. Using complicated technology jargon's may not really help (may make matters more complex). Stick to what's in the petition letter.
3. Read your petition letter and otter forms well.
4. Do not get nervous or tensed. Visa denial is not end of the world.
5. Keep your documents on order. Don't mix personal documents with visa documents.
6. Make sure you carry DD for "fraud detection and prevention".
7. Be sure about whom you will be reporting to, place for work, your designation and your salary in the US.

L1B interview location Related Query
Hi,

I have appeared for L1B blanket visa interview at Chennai Consulate in Dec'15. My case was rejected. Later, my employer had filed individual petition and my L1B individual case is approved now.
My Employer has asked me to appear for the interview at Mumbai consulate. However, wanted to know will I be allowed to appear at Mumbai consulate when my earlier case was rejected at Chennai consulate?
There has been cases I have heard regarding consulate location issues caused due to change in location between consequent case fileing. Please let me know

L1A rejected...next step
I had my visa interview on 22nd July for L1 A blanket category which was rejected.
Although my designation is manger but there are no direct reporters.
I had read on many sites that even if you manage a process and have indirect reportees you can apply as L1A.
But VO rejected it with reason not clearly approvable and asked HR to refile.now I want to know my further options
1. Should I apply for L1A individual? Is success rate higher there?
2. Should I consider applying for L1B ?
3. The fraud detection fees..can that DD be cancelled?

Regards.

L1-B visa interview
Thanks all for sharing your experience and helping me to get my visa approved.
The only thing which you want for the interview is good preparation and confidence.
My interview was on 20th July 2016 at 10:30. I reached the venue at 9:42 AM. I read so many interview experience here and they ask to reach the venue 15 min prior. But reaching early really helped me at the consulate.

There was some technical issue at the consulate and people started forming queue and we remain stand there till 11:00 wich formed a long queue. Robin Uttappa was also standing there in front of me :) .

finally we entered the consulate and after security check and document check. I went to the queue entering the interview hall. It was again a long queue.

after enetering the hall, L1 applicants are provided a special traetment. They will ask you to sit there and really that was biggest relief after 3 hours of standing.

At 11:30, after submitting my DD and finger-print scan, I went to the interview line. the window starts from 20 and ends with 30. around 11:50, I got my turn and got the 30 number window.

And the interview started:
Q. Which company you are from ?
Q. What product you are working for?
Q. What it do?
Q. for how long you would be staying there?
Q. Who would be taking care of your expenses?
Q. What is your specialization?
Q. So why are you going to united states?

And then he spoke those golden words: "OK I am approving your visa"... I said him Thanks.. 3 times :) :) .

Key is to prepare well and don't fumble while giving your answers. And always keep smiling and show that you are listening him carefully.

Contact me in case of any help required.

L1A Blanket - Chennai Approved on 22 Jul 16
Thank you all in this community for sharing your experience which helped me to get my Visa Approved.

I would like to say be positive and confident that was the key for the interview. Also don't fear with the comments shared by person who had got their Visa Rejected,

On the day on Interview 22/07/16 my appointment was at 10:00, I was in the line at 9:30, don't carry any bag or mobile. I wasted almost 15 min to keep my bag which I had carried for the keeping files. You can use plastic cover for file. I saw a lot of people having the files in that.

Was through the security check and was in line for L1A Blanket for document to be tagged together (3 copies of I797, DS160 confirmation page, DD). Paid the DD and got the receipts and was to the main interview hall around 10:20.

There was almost 100 people before me and I got counter 24 at 11:00 AM.

My VAO was a Lady around 35 years, the conversation was as below.

VAO: Please come Sir! your documents please.
Me: Gave the documents and wished her Good morning Madam.
VAO: Good morning sir! She scanned it and asked, So you work for ZZZ?
Me: Yes Madam.
VAO: Your Designation?
Me: Answered the same.
VAO: Who is your client?
Me: Answered it
VAO: How long you are associated with the client?
Me: Mentioned the years.
VAO: How many reportee you have in US?
Me: 4 Direct reportee
VAO: How many indirect?
Me: 10
VAO: Your US salary Annually?
Me: Mentioned around 80K
VAO: Who will be your supervisor?
Me: Mentioned his designation.
VAO: can you mention the structure of your peer and your manager supervisor
Me: Mentioned it
VAO: can you give me an approx count of YYYY onsite employees working for this client?
Me: Mentioned around 3000.
VAO: She said so may in surprise.
ME: Yes Madam. (then she was silent for while)
I said I have an new project Implementation coming in an couple of months so should be there for hiring resources.
VAO: That's fine Sir, I am approving your Visa please give me a minute.

I was so happy said Okay madam!!! she started stamping the I129S, returned two copies and mentioned will keep your passport and one copy of I129S
Please retain the I129S, you will need one copy for your HR team and one when you land in the US.

Me: Thank you Madam, when will I be getting my passport.
VAO: It will be there in 5 days sir, please go through the notice board for further details.
Me: Okay, thank you, have a nice day madam.

And I started off with Happiness, while coming out removed my blazer and was on cloud!! it was the day which I was waiting for almost 4 years.

Note: Since you will be going on Manager/executive role it is best advised to be in blazer, I noticed those who were rejected on L1A missed that. Might be it give them the impression so :):)

Thanks,

Do feel free if you need any details from me!!!!!!

Moving with an L1
I have my L1 visa in hand and am finalizing my move details, including the completion of form 3299 to import my household goods through my movers.

Question #1: Under an L1, am I considered a non-resident EMIGRATING to the us, or am I VISITING? I am going to be living there for the duration of my L1, but i know L1 status is considered temporary. My primary address will be in the states during this window.

Question #2: My arrival date - is this when i will arrive and stay, or when i arrived and was granted my visa?

Thank you in advance, and would love any other tips and pointers about moving my things across the border on an L1A... so much paperwork :)

L2 Ddependant
Hi,

I have approved L1 A Blanket visa status. Recently, I got married. I plan to apply for the L2 dependent visa for my spouse. The Marriage certificate has been issued by the Court and is in English with proper seal and signature from the concerned Authorities. However, the Marriage certificate is handwritten and not in computerized format. Please advise whether the marriage certificate is acceptable.

Thanks.
