L1A Individual Approved
First of all would like to thank this community and people who posted their experience..My L1A individual got approved today 08/04 and intrview was at 10:00 am in chennai..

Entered consulate at 9:30 am..seeing 9 month kid with us..everything went on smooth and fast till VO counter by 9:55 am.. we got counter 16 where there was a 35 year aged pleasant woman..as VO.. :-) Greeted us with a smile and i wished her in return..she also wished us back and collected passport and I797D approval notice...then started with below questions...

1) R u working in Xxx company?
2) How long you are working with this company?
3) Where did u work before and how many years?
4) Who is ur client at onsite?
5) What do they do..?
6) R u going to Xxx location?
7) What do you do at onsite?
8) Do you have any reportees there..?
9) Once again tell me how many years experience in ur current company...?
Two questions to my wife...
10) Madam, how many years back u got married...?
11) Is this the only child you have..?
All above questions were answered confidently and calmly..then came golden words..Sir, congratulations.. your visa is approved..
As far as my experience is concerned..be calm..n stick to the point what they ask..dont elaborate or give explanations to your answers unless they ask you. Be prepared atleast 1 week before..even though questions looks easy when there is long gap for interview, so that you wont feel nervous during interveiw day..I also noticed Chennai consulate is lenient in approving Visas compare to other locations. Also when VO speaks, their accent is understandable as there is good sound system there..you dont feel uncomfortable. Anyways all the best to future folks for your interview and pray almighty for all of yours success :-)

L1A blanket approved Chennai

I have 5+ years of experience with my current company with overall 13 years of experience.

1. Designation?
2. Who is the client?
3. Will you be working for this client ? This is an intra-company transfer, so I’ll continue to an employee of YYYY but work for the client
4. No of years with YYYY ? 5 years and 5 months
5. No of direct reports at onshore? 2
6. No of indirect reports at onshore? 5
7. Who will be the senior most at client location? I'll be the senior most.
8. Who will you report to in US? Vice President in YYYY

Some helpful tips to improve the chances for approval:
1. It is helpful if the client is well-known in the industry
2. Two layers of people below (i.e. direct reports and a few indirect reports) at Onshore, they aren’t so much interested in offshore reporting structure
3. Reporting to the Vice President in the US
4. It helps further If the applicant’s reporting manager is not based at the same location

Approved L1B Individual ***Stamping/appointment Info needed***
Hello Everyone

My story goes like this.. In Dec 2015, I had L1B Blanket visa refusal at chennai us consulate, "Visa clearly not approval" and VO asked me to apply under diff category.

Then my Company applied under L1B Individual Premium in Jan 16, received RFE within 15 days. After 2 months of preparation responded the RFE. Finally L1B individual petition got approved in May 16'. Took appointment date which is on 23rd & 24th aug 16 (with Dependent). Lots of rush in visa appointment.

Meanwhile my company also filed my case for H1B and it got selected in lottery (that too in month of may 16). Now on 30th july 16 my H1B uscis status changed to "my case was approved" :-)

So I have my L1B Individual appointment in mumbai consulate on 23rd & 24th aug.( I m willing to go ahead with L1B)
My question is: Will there be any problem with L1B individual stamping? As now I have two petition approved (both L1B Individual & H1B).

I have have taken this up with my organisation and they are in process of confirming the same from their side, so just checking up here in this forum. Any help will be appreciated.

Did any one has similar experience?

Thanks

L1A Blanket approved
Hello Guys,

First of all thank you very much for this blog. It has been very useful to me in preparation of my visa.

I am working in one of the top Indian service based company, which most of the people join for onsite only ;-)

I have total 10 yrs of experience wit 5 years with current company. And my company decided to file my L1A blanket.

Actually I am more of technical, but dunno my company decided for L1A and not L1B.

I had OFC and PA on the same day at chennai. OFC at 8am and PA at 10am. Thus I reached OFC at 7.30am. It got completed by 8.05am and then I reached to consulate by auto at 8.20

By 8.45 I was inside the consulate main building after passing all security checks, few separate queues to check and sort the documents. I submitted the DDs and was redirected to a counter. Where I had to give my biometric once again. May be to authenticate.

Then finally I was redirected the final counter. just before me there was a young lady, who was there for student visa. Unfortunately that was rejected. So I was afraid that this VO might be a bit strict.

The it was my turn.

VO: Good Morning Sir.
Me: Very good mornig
VO: May I have your documents please
ME: <Handed over the docs>
VO: <Saide some thin, which i could not understand>
Me: Pardon me, can you come again please.
VO: I said, here is your fee receipt you can keep with you
Me: Ok (Getting nervous, thinking this could have done the damage)
VO: So which company are you working with
Me: I am working with YYYY YYYY X Ltd.
VO: So you're working with ZZZ
Me: Yes
VO: How long are you working with ZZZ
Me: I am working with YYYY since last 5 Years.
VO: What will be your designation in US
Me: <Answered>
VO: What activities that will involve
Me: I will be responsible for coordinating and managing the project and responsible for communication between customer and Project team, <Etc..as per the PRD>
VO: What is our project about?
Me: Answered
VO: Hw many direct reportees will you have
Me: 5
VO: And how many indirect ?
Me: 25
VO: 25?
Me: Yes
VO: Oh Ok
VO: Whom do you report to?
Me : answered the name and designation
VO: What are his responsibilities
Me: Answered
VO: Whom does he report to ?
Me: Answered the name and designation
VO : And what are his responsibilities ?
ME: Answered
then he was typing some thing
VO: <sliped a small booklet thur the window and said, this is the information about your rights as temporary worker in US>
Me: <getting some positive hint,> ok
VO: <again started typing something, after long pause he said> I am approving your visa, ..bla, bla, bla, <I dont remember what he said after that>
Me: Thank you very much, have a good day

And left the consulate ASAP.

In my opinion, make sure you are always smiling and confident as others have suggested. Dress well, I mean really well. Its not Visa interview, its Personal Appearance. So be at your best appearance. Wear proper formal suite & tie.

L1A Blanket Rejected at Chennai
I had my interview of Aug 2nd and my L1A Blanket visa was denied. It Still seems a mystery as my Visa Officer did not mention any specific reason for denial but gave a blue sheet where it was mentioned that that my Blanket L1 is not clearly approvable under section 8 CFR 214.2(I)(ii)(D) and INA 101(a)(15)(L).

Questions asked:

VO:Which company?
Me: Answered
Which client?
Me: Answered
VO: How many people will you
supervise?
Me: 5 direct reports
VO: Will the team size increase? I
Me: Yes, will hire 5 more to take it to 10 based on project needs.
VO: Who will be your supervisor?
Me: Answered with his designation (Senior Manager)
VO: Whom will your supervisor report to?
Me:Answered with his designation (Senior Executive)
VO: Is he a VP of the company?
Me: He is a senior executive and is at a leadership level which is similar to a VP.

But I had a feeling that he was expecting I will supervising a very large team (direct and indirect) at onshore and my supervisor should be reporting to VP level in Accenture. But this is entirely my opinion. I saw one case getting approved with only 5 reports also in a different counter.

Also I had travelled to Usa before on H1B from 2003 to 2006 and on L1B from 2013 to 2014.

What do you think could be the exact reason for denial?
