L1B Blanket Approved @Chennai
All credit goes to this forum. Thank you very much whoever started this great forum.
Here are the questions asked for me:
VO: Good Morning!
Me: Good Morning!
Mean while he was going through my documents.
Me: So how are you doing today?
VO: Oh, Great with smile.
VO: For which company you are working for?
Me: I work for xxx
VO: Which client?
Me: umm xxx
VO: How many years of exp. do you have in this company? (Very important)
Me: I have 16 months of exp. (He was reading my documents) Then I started to talk like I joined this company in June 2011 and working for the same customer in the area of xxxx (specialized skill area mentioned in petition)
VO: Ok. So what special skills you have?
Me: (Very important) I started to explain my specialized skills (My domain experties, company as well as clients propritary tools and methodologies, algorithms).
VO: (Interrupted me) Did you developed these algorithms at your own or in a team?
Me: I have developed these algoritms at my own.
VO: And the golden words came out.....Great!!! I'll approve your visa... (When i heard that i was literally hanged for a moment It is like a dream comes true for me :)). He stamped my I129 copies and handed over to me.
Me: Thank you very much Sir! Have a great day ahead..

Few things:
You have to be very confident
Maintain eye contact (very important)
Your specialized skills should be the domain specialized skills (not any technology like C# or Java....)

L1B Blanket Denied
It was exactly the same case happened with mine.
When I read your experience, it just the replica of happened to me with same set of questions and the duration.
I think due to new process of Biometrics(OFC) in place, it is already pre-decided whom to reject and then the interview is just formality.
In my case, he was not looking at me while I was answering, continuously doing something on PC, haven't looked into my petition either.
I also have 5+ exp. in current organisation which is the topmost global IT giant. Looking at current scenario, I believe the chances of L1B approval lies only people having dependents accompanying, it is just my guess.

L1B Blanket Denied
Hi All,
Today Oct 16th morning 9am i appeared for my visa interview. My visa was denied and below is my experience;

VO: Hi
Me: Good Morningin Ma'am, How are you today
VO: Fine, Can I have your documents
Me, Sure, provided the documents
VO: Which Company are you working for?
Me: Replied my company name
VO: Who is your client?
Me: Replied my client name.
VO: While she was busy browsing in her computer, she suddenly said "I Cannot approve your visa in this category, Please re-apply in the right category"

She handed over my documents back to me. My overall interview was not even a minute and i am not sure why my visa was denied. I applied for L1B Blanket visa which is a specialized visa, but she never asked anything about my specialization. I have close to 10 years of exp, and already have a valid US BV and have also visited US before.
Any idea why my visa was denied?

regards
Rajesh

I had interview on 15th at 7.30am. Me and my wife reached at 6.45. after checking passport, DS-160, appointment letter and frisking, we were allowed inside by 7.15. In the front room, they verified I-129S (3 copies), I-797 (3 copies), Demand Draft and sent us to the interview hall. Around 8.15, we were called for interview.

VO: Good morning, How are you?
Me: Good morning, I am good.
VO: Can I have your documents?
Me: (Gave the documents)
VO: Why do you go to US?
Me: (Explained about the product and the project I am working on, in 2 lines. Explained about the roadmap of that project and said I am having unique special knowledge required to work on that). My total answer was around 15-20 seconds. And even before I completed my answer, she started looking at my I-129S and I-797 forms and typed something in computer.
VO: (to my wife) where are you working? what is your qualification?
My wife: (Replied in one line for that)
VO: I approve you visa. Have a good trip. (Returned two sets of I-129S and I-797 and asked to return one to HR and to stamping officer)
Me: Thank you.

The total process was just around 60 seconds. It looked like a formality. I was prepared for ~30 questions and she didn't ask anything else.

We paid 600 rupees for the delivery of 2 passports and left.

My two cents:
* I wore jeans, casual shirt without tucking-in. Blazer isn't going to help you in any way.
* You need not keep smiling; You need not worry about body language.
* They have definitely done pre-processing your case. Interview is just a final step. A strong case wouldn't be affected much by an interview.
* You should possess advanced special knowledge, proprietary to your company and sometimes to your team.
* In your team, specifically you should possess all the required special knowledge.
* The knowledge should not be common in the industry.
* The knowledge should not be something that can be easily taught to some new hire in US.
* The knowledge should be better than industry standards.
* The future project you are going to work on must require this special skill and the business need of that project has to be justified.
* If you are convinced, you will be granted visa.

ALL THE BEST :-)

L1B approved on 12 oct @Chennai consulate !
i owe major part of my success to this great forum.each and every experience which is shared in this forum has helped me a lot !
My OFC appointment was on 11 oct at Chennai and had some problem to locate this place.however some earlier comments shared in this forum helped me to find the place which is in the same TPL house in chennai so don't get confuse by reading OFC address at your appoinment letter instead ask autowala or taxi wala to drop you at TPL house.OFC centre is on 1st floor of same building.

My PA appointment was held on 12 oct and it was little delayed by 30-45 mins however process was much better streamlined and easy to follow and interview questions were the same.

1.how long you are working with company ?
2. indian salary and onsite salary?
3.specialised skill ?

and then Golden words came in almost 4-5 minutes of discussion "Your visa is approved ".

Thanks
Nitin
