L1 B got rejected
Hi,
I had an Visa interview today and got rejected with cause saying L1 type is not clearly approved.

Asked following questions:
1. What work you are doing now (specilized knowledge)?
2. What did you do when traveled 2 times with H1-B visa to USA?
3. How you are different than other team member?
4. What is your salary in india?

I clearly answered all questions. Not sure what makes her to reject it.

Can I apply again for L1-B type or what is the next step?

She said now it is strict and not able to clearly approve L1 type visa, there are other type ask you HR about this.

L1B pending for Administrative Processing
Hi,
Today I have appeared for L1B interview. The VO asked me following questions.

1. Designation
2. About the project
3. My role in this project
4. About my specialized skills
5. Indian Salary
6. Job location
7. Total experience
8. Marital status

Then she gave me a pink slip and asked me to go to a different counter for administrative processing.

I confidently answered all the questions. My specialized skill doesnt involve any tool. Its about a framework what we built. Not sure whether I will get my visa and when...

L1B Applied. Need Guidance.
Hello friends,

I deeply appreciate the work being done here in the forums helping out people and guiding them on their queries. I too require some guidance.

I am working as an Oracle DBA and Peoplesoft Consultant with over 5 years of Work Experience and my organization applied for L1 Blanket Petition which got approved last month. Now I am required to travel to US by end of this month. I duly filled DS-160, paid HDFC receipt amount and company attorney has prepared a case letter and filled I-129S. We too have received L1 Blanket Approval i.e. I-797 Notice of Action.

I will be the first person traveling from my organization and first one in their Blanket.

My file now contains following Documents:

1. DS-160 Confirmation Letter.
2. Green HDFC Receipt.
3. I-129S (Email Copy)
4. I-797 Blanket Approval (Original)
5. My Current & Previous Employment Letters (Originals).
6. My B.Tech Degree and Mark Sheets (Originals).
7. Last 2 Years Income tax returns (Email Copies).
8. 1 Year Pay Slips (Email Copies).
9. Passport.
10. L1B Support Letter detailing the Specialized Knowledge
11. Resume.

Please let me know if that is enough or I need to carry any more documents to the Chennai Consulate. Also if you could let me now what is the amount of fees I need to carry as demand drafts before going to the consulate.

I also need your expert guidance about How Interview goes and what kind of Questions are asked so that I can prepare well. I want to make sure my visa doesn't gets rejected and would like to take all measures towards it.

I have traveled before on B1 visa couple of times but for short durations. This time it is going to be 18 months to 3 years.

Please let me know tips and guide me through this process for 11th April.

Thanks & Regards
Rohan Raj Kalra

L1B Blanket approved
I attended L1B blanket on 2nd April in Chennai.
I was continuously following the site for last few months and it was very helpful in reading the experience provided by all. It helped in giving me an idea how to prepare for visa interview.
There were no much questions for me, which made me so tensed after the interview. when we prepare ourself for the usual questions like what we do in our company, what our role or work in US, specialization, helped in gaing the confidence. Being confident while answering the questions was one key point. Atlast I got my visa. I wish others as well , All the Best!.
My questions were:
1) Where are you travelling from?
2) what you do?
3) What your comapny product does, its used for what?
4) Experience in current company?
After this, VO was going through my I 129S form and finally said, I am now granting your Visa.
I said Thank you and left the place.
There was no question about my specialization, no questions about salary etc.
Today i received my passport with Visa. Thanks to this site and the contributors in this forum.

L1B rejected
Hi, my L1 B was rejected on 4th April at Chennai and here is how it went,

me: Hi, Good Morning :)
VO: Good morining to you too.
VO: Can I have your Documents
me: yes. (handed them over. he checks the passport for sometime and then asks),
VO: Which company do you work for?
Me.ZZZ
VO: How many years have you been working for this company?
me: X years
VO: Have you been to US before?
me: No.
VO: What is your highest qualification?
me: YYYY.
VO: What is your client's name?
me: ZZZZ
VO: What do you do for your client?
Me: Told him all that I do for the client and kind of work that I perform. (all this while he was repeatedly typing on the computer and then he looked at me and said, 'i am sorry, we cannot clearly approve your Visa under the category that you have applied. Please reapply under a L1 individual or H1 and come back to us.

Bottom line: They are not even bothered to ask questions relating to the category of Visa under which the applicant has applied to see if he/she is really justifying the case. They are pretty determined to reject for no valid reason. I was given a blue sheet which gives the reason for rejection under section 8CFR 214.2(I)(ii)(D) and INA 101(a)(15)(L).

L1 B Rejected
Yesterday my L1B was not approved.

I was asked only 2 questions.

My compant experience and designation
Salary

And she said , we cant approve this time.

My Observations are:

Product based companies are getting most approvals than service based. So the specilization plays major role in that. I was not even asked any questions on my project, specilization or role. they similar rejected. I have more than 7 and half years of IT experience, there were days when people got L1 like a cake walk, Now it relaly tough. gear up guys. this is not end of the world.

L1A visa granted
Thanks to this site immihelp.com as most of the questions asked in L1A visa interview were almost same as I read in this site. So overall I was well prepared to answer such questions.
1. Why are you going to America
2. Is this visa for specialist or managerial
Answer: This is for managerial position
3. The officer asked me about my current roles and responsibilities, designation - Program Manager
4. The officer asked about the roles and responsibilities and designation while I am going to work in US
5. He enquired a lot about the work I am going to do
6. How many people report to me
Answer: Currently 6 Project Managers and total team size is 89 and in another program for which I am going to US 7 project managers are going to report to me.
7. Asked about my US salary

L2 questions:
He asked about our marriage date to my wife.
From both kids he asked their names, age and class they study. He asked from my son if he likes studying in class VI

Overall it was a good session, I was nervous in the first question but after that I was able to answer all the other questions confidently and finally he decided to grant L1A visa to me.

Thanks again to this site as it helped me a lot.

Regards,
Manish
