My L1B Blanket Visa is approved today at Chennai

VO:What is you total experience?

VO:What is you Specialization?
-Explained my Specialization with our organizations propritary tools.
VO:What is you qualification?
-Told completed xx degree from xx university

VO:Finally she told you will receive you Visa in 1 week.

I come from a service based company and there is a mis-conception that visa's for service based companies are getting rejected. If you are confident while you are answering the questions you will definitely get the visa.

L1B & L2 Visa Approved on 24th Feb'2012 @ Chennai Consulate
Hi All,

Firstly, Thanks to everyone for providing their respective inputs which helped me a lot in preparing for the L1visa interview.

Few very important things required are Smart Dressing, Confidence and Communicating effectively.

Questions asked to me:

Q. Where are you working ?

Q. How long you working for YYYY company ?

Q. Have you travelled to US before and flipped around my passport.

Q. What is your Indian Salary?
A. ZZZ

Q.Will you work at the Client location or YYYY office?
A. Please make sure this is answered carefully and wisely.

Q. What are you specialised in ?
A. Make sure you don't use generalised terms like SAP, ORACLE etc..

Q. Why are you travel and not some one else?
A. This is the point where you can sell your profile and I took this as an opportunity.

Questions asked to my wife.

Q. How long you married for ?

Q, Was that a Love marriage or Arranged Marriage?

Interview went for on for good 5-7 mins. VO was relaxed and smiling all across the session.Good Travel history also helps , which was a key point in my case.

L1A Blanket Rejected @ Chennai today (23-02-2012)
I only see approved posts here, nothing on rejections.
So here's a rejected experience...

The interview lasted all of 5 minutes, maybe less... Started off with greetings, then there were 6 questions.
What org do you work for? <Top 5 IT cos>
What is your client? <Informed him>
What will be your designation when you are onsite? <Informed him, Proj Mgr>
Have you travelled to US earlier? <Provided details of earlier travel>
How many resources report to you? <Provided details> - was less than 10
What is your India salary? <Provided the number>

The VO during the questions itself was typing into his system and then a few seconds after the last question, the petition was marked with "Not clearly approvable" and a blue form was given something about "section 8 C.F.R 214.2" was ticked.

The VO stated that the L1A visa is for senior executives and since you're a project manager only, you do not qualify for this visa.

L1 B Blanket Approved at Chennai today (23-02-2012)
I had my L1B Blanket approved at Chennai today.
Was initially nervous since I had only 1 year and 2 weeks experience in my current organization so a borderline case.

The VO was very nice. I greeted her initially and she started off asking for my documents. She asked me the place where I am visiting, the client, for how long I would be there and my specialized knowledge. Then she asked me the most dreaded question of how long I am with the current firm since I had heard that a lot of people get rejected on this.

Then she asked me why this work cannot be done from the US and came her reply....Your Visa is approved...!!! Lasted 4-5 minutes max.

It basically depends upon the VO you get and a lot of luck. There were a lot of rejections too. Also, your personality, dressing and the way you speak with confidence plays a very important part. Company brand name also plays an important role (since I work for a Big4 audit firm).
