L1 Blanket VISA Interview
My L1B VISA got approved on 10th Feb 2012.

My feedback of the entire process:

• Always reach the Consulate 45 min – 1 hour before the scheduled interview.
• Keep all the papers handy – Only a polythene bag or a open folder or a harmonium cover is allowed. Be well informed about what papers are kept and where it is kept.
• Dress formally. It really creates a good impression.
• Do not be nervous and be confident. SAP has a good name and the interviewer knows about it.
• Give direct and precise answers. Greet the interviewer and a smile is always helpful.

Questions asked to me with my answers:

• Where are you going in US?
o I am going to xxx
• Which company are you working for?
o I am working for xxx.
• How many years of experience do you have?
o I have x years and y months of experience.
• What position will you be joining in US?
o I will be joining as xxx.

I think for product companies and people with adequate years of experience, the interview is pretty easy to clear. However its always recommended to prepare for all scenarios and give it your everything for the same. Good luck to each and everyone of you.

L1B blanket petition approved.
I had my interview in 8.30 slot, came out by 9.30

A bit about the process-
. carry documents in the transparent folders, to not waste time in security check
. Reach half an hour early as there maybe a queue
.keep DS160 & appointment confirmation handy

About the Appearance-
Although Tie/Suit make a great impression.
wear what suits you, in the end you being comfortable is most important, that reflects. I did not wear a tie.

About the interview-
.V.O.'s are generally amiable people to deal with.
. Approach with a smile and give the answers confidently
.Having a U.S. based reputed company helps but if God has given you lemons make lemonade i.e. present your case confidently
.They listen to you and approve/reject the VISA based on what you say. No harm in rehearsing a few lines.

Q&A-
Q Have you been to US on L VISA before ?
A No

Q What's the company ?
A I told about the company. He knew about it.

Q How much they Pay you here ?
A ---- lakh Rs. P.A. (He seemed to be assured about income)

Q. What's the project ?
A I tried to explain the project in the simplest manner. If possible give a scenario/example.

Q. What you will be doing there ?
A. Explained my Role.

Q. How long you're going to stay for this project ?
A I did not hear the question properly and fumbled so he repeated the question.

Q pointing at a booklet regarding nonimmigrant rights etc. Have you read this before ?

Please ignore my earlier post.

I attended the Blanket L1B Visa Interview today along with my wife and kid. I am having 6.5 years of total experience and 1 year 10 months in current company.

Which visa category are you applying for ?
Which company you are from ?
Total years of experience with current company ?
Which client are you working for ?
Which city and state are you going to ?
Total years of experience with the domain ?
What’s your current salary ?
Tell me about your Project ?
I explained about the Project along with the company's proprietary framework.
Are you working on this from scratch ?

To my wife
What's your husband's DOB
What's your husband's Place Of Birth
What's your wedding date
What's your mother-in-law's name

Also he gave me 2 approved I129 Forms with seal and signature with validity to date.

And then he told your visa has been approved and you will get the passports couriered.

Blanket L1B approved
Excited to get my visa approved and would like to share my experience.

First off, my L1-B DD worth 27,000 INR towards L1 fraud detection and prevention was returned citing reduction in visa fees due to dollar devaluation against INR.

I was asked to pay the amount via credit card (which I did) or come back again with a fresh DD for reduced amount.

Second my interaction with the Visa officer was very smooth.

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning

VO: Which company do you work for
Me: I work for <company>

VO: Have you ever been to states before
Me: Yes, <this-many-times>

VO: How long did you stay ?
Me: <Durations for the visits>

VO: Where are you going ?
Me: I am going to <City> in <State>

VO: Is your visa category L1A or B
Me: L1B

VO: How long have you been working with this company
Me: X years and X months

VO: What's the project
Me: <2 sentences about the project>

VO: And the specialization you are applying against
Me: <2 sentences about specialization>

VO: Indian salary in Lakhs per annum
Me: YYYY Lakhs per annum

VO: How long are you going to be staying there
Me: <duration of stay>

Third, interaction with my wife also went smooth

VO: Madam, when were you married ?
Wife: <exact date>

VO: What your Husband's father's name
Wife: Its Mr. < YYYY >

VO: Have you ever been to states before
Wife: <Yes/No>

At this point Visa office starts writing on my application and says

"Sir your visa is approved and your passports will be couriered back to your mailing address"

As folks mentioned on this thread, following are the things that helped

1. Short, clear and to the point responses to the questions asked. Details only if asked further.
2. Good American product company
3. Decent Indian and American Salary
4. Good work experience

All the best :-)

L1B on hold
I had, my L1B interview in Oct 11 and the outcome was it was on hold.
Everything as mentioned above was answered and no desperation shown.
VO - Cannot grant visa as category is incorrect. Apply for Individual L1 / H1.
To me it appeared that it was pre-planned as all the BL1 candidate has same outcome.
Can any one help here
