I have given my interview on 08 FEb 2011 at 8.45Am in chennai and Happy to say that it has got Approved!!

1. Who is your Client?
'ZZZ'

2. Why do you go to USA?
Lead developer of the project, going to work the next phase of the project which i am currently woeking at offshore which required an expert to work the current system at onsite.

3. What expert you are?
told about my system knowledge (tool which i was developed here) need to implement the same at onsite since 'ZZZ' has acquired a new company which i did a POC (analysis on DB and transactions) for them, more over which is a critical implementations at onsite.

4. How many experience in this project?
My Exp..

Finally the word has come out and saying that My Visa has been Approved!!!! i couldn't here anything after that. I was so happy and wishing all the best to others.

I have gone through L1B Visa interview on Feb 7th 2011. The questions were asked are,
What do you do...?
I said, i am representing YYYY company, and My project is YYY which is for...

What is your role in the project?
I explained my responsibilities and going to US to verify the functionality in the target which is not available in India.

Who is your client?
How will you differ from your Peers...?

Question 2 & 4 are the key answers got me Visa. If we made them convinced for the reason you must go for US, then you will get through for sure.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your experience. It helped me to build my confidence and get the positive result.
I had my interview for L1A scheduled at Mumbai on 7th Feb 8:15 a.m. I used the VFS facility so that I could regain my positive energy. I would also suggest the same , the facility is value for money for Rs 275.00
After I completed all the formalities , I waited for almost 45 minutes to get my turn. It was a young person with very charming smile face. Even though my heart was pumping , I got relaxed after the soft greetings exchange.
First question asked :
VO: Why are you going to US ?
Me: explained briefly
VO: I need more in detail
Me: Explained the client and the project detail in about 4 lines ( I had prepared well for this )
VO: How much experience with the client ZZZ
Me: None..
VO: How many people you will manage and where will you be located.
Me: Gave the detail in short
VO: What is the total exp with your company YYY
Me: n months
VO: ( Irritated ) Tell me in years , my math was not good ..
Me: Smiled and after apology converted in numbers.
VO: Have you travelled to US earlier
Me: No . I was working in UK prior to this for 5 years
VO: What you were doing in UK , which part of UK and who was the client.
Me: Gave the detail
VO: Which city in UK you liked the big city or the small one
Me: London
VO: Why
Me: I liked the Thames walk and use to walk for 15 minutes every day ... and was very keen on knowing history behind all the bridges across Thames..
VO : (Listining carefully ) great. I also stayed there for some time and I liked it.
VO: When were you born and what is your DOB
Me: Gave the detail
VO: Current salary in India , in lacs per anum
Me: Gave the exact figure ( Please take a note of this as they have complete detail )
VO: Have you travelled to any Middle East country .
Me: No
VO: Not even to Dubai
Me: No
VO: Which other Asian countries
Me: Singapore and Bangladesh
VO: (Surprised ) What were you doing in Bangladesh ?
Me: Explained
VO: Final question, you are new to this client , why were you choosen for this project ( this was my favourite question )
Me: Explained ( I had prepared for this question at least 7 different ways at home and finally came up with the best possible answer . )

VO: ( Smile) Well I am happy to approve your visa to go to US as Manager. Take this two forms along with and have a nice stay in US. ( May be something simlar he said either I could not hear or may be did not try to hear as I saw he finally stamped in my paper and I choose to thank God. )

Me: Thank you very much Sir and have a great day ahead.

Note: I always kept eye contact with him and always wearing a reasonable smiling face to hide my nervous-ness inside.
As everyone suggested , do some mock round with well wishers .. prepare crisp and short answers , do not go over board to impress the VO.
I was asked many questions but the interview lasted exactly for 7 minutes.

The funniest experience I had when the VO was holding the stamp and before stamping it in my I129S he was shooting a questions. I was just oberving that , the time when he finally put the stamp , I could understand there is no more questions. That was the thin line..

We had interview schedule 02 Feb 2011 at 9:00 AM and We reached Hyderabad embassy at 8:40 AM.
 
It was a long queue there, Because of my spouse and my small baby they given 1st preference pass thro in main gate.

In main entrance gate security guys asked us to carry only baby milk, they are not allowing us to carry even baby food and water. then we kept all baby's belonging opposite to embassy building with the security.

After pass through the main gate we went through all below formalities
1.Collection of All visa documents.
2.Body scan.
3.Submission of DD at counter #2.
4.Finger print at counter #8.
5.Collection of token at waiting hall for Visa interview.

Questions asked by Visa Officer

1.How many years of experience in XYZ company?
2.What's your skills set?
3.Who is your Client ?
4.How long you are working with this Client?

That's all done no question to my wife Visa Office said your "Visa is approved" you will be getting your passport by courier.

These all activities just took 25 mins, we are out of consulate with big smile "Praise the lord "

I got my L1B(Blanket) VISA approved at Chennai consulate today.

After the initial processing of 'documents verification' and 'DD/Cheque deposit', I was asked to proceed for the inerview.

I got the following questions.

How long have you been working for this company
Who is your client?
What are you going to do at onsite?
Why were you selected for this?

After which I was told that my VISA is approved.

P.S: I feel, for Blanket petition, total experience with current client does matter a lot.

Be Confident and answer briefly.

Inspired, Prepared well for the interview based on this forum experiences and Succeeded.

The questions to me too are quite common.

I would like to share couple of my observations i witnessed at Consulate.

1) A Senior citizen of India (aged around 60+ ) is giving his interview while i was sitting in lobby and waiting for my turn. While answering the questions to VO, this person is moving, dancing, bending his whole body (he is very much tensed) and even thought the VO was so cool and giving respect to his age and he also tries to help him for granting the visa.... but he failed.

2) At another counter another gentle man well dressed with a coat and answering questions with little louder pitch and conversed aroun 5 min but unable to succeed.

In this both scenarious i concluded both were not maintaining good body langage, and not giving short reply's to the questions being asked.

Guys,

The VO's are doing very good job as part of there job, but due to silly mistakes being done by us they are rejecting the visas.

Before going for interview
- Prepare well, Aware what your project is ?
  What will be your roles & resp ?
  What is specialized know & what is yours ?
  Why are you so specialized ?

While going to interview
- Plan your trip in order to reach the consulate
  at least 30min before.
- Dress Well (completely in formals)
- Be cool

While attending interview
- Reply queries confidently
- Maintain Eye contact
- Put up a smily face
- Answer in short don't be over smart in giving
  more details unless they ask you to explain
- Maintain body language well (Don't bend and
  answer, thinking like VO might be unable to
  hear your voice, mikes and speakers were in
  place... please don't bend and answer)

After the interview
- You don't believe that your visa is approved.

Mine was cool, 2-3 minutes interview. Questions asked were

1) Which company do you work for ?
2) How long are you working for YYYY company ?
3) What are your specialized skills ?
4) How did your aquire those specailized skills ?
5) what is your over all experience ?

After this question the VO said "I am approving your VISA, you will receive your passport in a weeks time"

I have come back from US to India lase week after 5 months on a B1 visa. My company wants me to be back to US on a L1 visa ASAP, how soon shall I apply for L1.
The concern I have is : are there any chance of my L1 rejection because of my recent stay in US on B1 FOR 5 months,Do i need to wait for a few months before i apply for L1?
Please advise

Hi,first of all thanks to all for posting ur experiences that boosted my confidence.Thanks to this site.Here is my experience.

To my fate VO was in a very bad mood,and found earlier candiate rejected from the same counter.
I can see that mood getting carried over till my turn as well.Just putting my fingers cross have proceeded to the counter.
VO:Since how long you are with this company?
me:4 years 6 months
VO:What are you specialised in?
me:Am specialised in YYYY company methodologies and tools..
VO:interupted me saying every one from YYYY company would have knowledge on these tools,how are u specialised from all other employees of YYYY company?
me:Along with that I have systems knowledge of YYY client applications..
VO: who is ur client?
me: YYY
VO: many ppl from YYYY company for YYY client have been applying,how are you special from them?
me:Am the only one with knowldge of YYY clients nnn technology specific applications systems knowledge.

Thats it she said "OK I Have Approved yours".
As all said confidence matters a lot.And be specific and crisp in ur answers.

I heard from many of them to mention the specialised area?
 suppose i am working in Unix and perlscripting, means i need to say this or any project related
specialization
