4)How will you differentiate yourself?

6)Have attended any training on the product you are specialized?

I would say you need some luck to get thro..
I was prepared for all the questions..
I Didnt have a formal training on the product.It was all on the job. So told him that..He was not convinced ..

Handed over Blue slip to me saying
"Not clearly approvble". Meet your HR for further steps..

Last couple of weeks I was continuously reading the experiences posted in this site. This helped me a lot in building the confidence, So I understand that this is my moral responsibility to post my experiences.
My appointment was at 10AM,31st Jan, 2011 at Chennai. I was with my wife, 2 kids of age 5.5 yrs and 2.5 yrs. Reached consulate at 9:30am, small queue in front of the gate And a big secondary queue just 100ft away for those who reached early for a later appointment .
Note1: Don’t go too early for interview; you will start fading quickly in Chennai sun. 30-mts is ideal and safe
Private securities were there all around One guy asked me for the appointment letter and I said 10am. He asked me to form a new queue there itself As the 9:45 batch is moving towards security check gate. I saw people for the 9:45 batch came the same time and they had been asked to go ahead of my queue – So no waiting for them …
In 20 mts queue reached the Security section (outside the consulate) , verified the appointment and confirmation letter, And they issued a token number ( One small slip and one Big slip; Both contains the tocken number – Later small one will be attached the application and the big one will be our copy) Ladies need to take a different gate for the security check. Body check is over in a minute Entered the consulate gate.
I carried 2 paper bags with 1 BEP folder and 2 normal folders for supporting docs and wedding album inside. My wife had a small pouch with 2 packets of Cadburys Gems - to handle my daughter during interview- and a lip cream which she forgot to keep it out. They asked me keep these 2 things out. I said I need Chocolates for my daughter, then they asked me to open the packet and eat one; I did so and kept the rest back in pouch , I am allowed to re-opened the outside gate and throw the lip cream out.
Lady security inside checked the bags and folders one by one to make sure that there is no CDs, pendrives, sealed covers etc… And allowed to go front, One more physical checkup by another guard.
Then entered the crowded administration area where I met my wife. There are around 12 counters ; LCD screens displays the token and counter numbers, There are seats available.. Each counter will have their own LCD displays for next 3 token numbers; also a lady staff announces the token numbers and Counter, which helps a lot to identify the counter. This counter removed most of the items in my Visa packet and kept only few relevant docs. Passports, I 797,I-129S,confirmation, fee reciepts and Rs.23,500 DD , and the small token number slip. and I collected back all those additional waist sheets. She kept everything in order and took the ten-finger printing for both me and wife, kids were exempted, though my son wanted to do so. She gave me the Folder back with the only relevant stuff in the required order. We been asked to move to next building on the right hand side - Got into the danger zone. A staff asked me to pay the DD at the first counter There is only one counter to collect the same , Submitted the complete file there. They took the DD and attached a free receipt to y application form.
I moved further and while searching for a seat, I found that my number is already there in one of the counter, 3 rd item , So I waited there . It was 6-7 feet behind the interviewer ; So I was able to hear all the Verification Officers (VO) questions and candidate answers. The guy in front of me got it approved and he went happily. Next was an aged lady she also got it approved; then my turn, during this waiting I saw the lady in the next counter got rejected.
We moved forward , my wife ready with chocolates for my daughter.
VO: Next Please
Me : (with smile) Good morning Sir, Pushed the docs
VO : ( Serious but pleasant ) looking at papers and started typing…
Me: ( Kept looking at his face, with all the confidence I had, though he is busy with something )
VO: (After 2 minutes) : Keep your left thumb on the scanner
Me: (Did So)
VO: Madam, Pl keep your right index finger
Wife: (Did So)
(Silence for 1 min, then he turned to me.)
VO : Which Company you are working for?
Me: YYYY (No complete sentence , only the name)
VO: Howlong you been with ZZZ
Me: 6 years, 8Months.
VO: What are you going to do in US?
Me: I am going to support YYYY for xxx products…..
VO: Can you please explain,
Me: Supprt ZZZ……
        (Stopped me at one keyword and asked me what is that – I expanded the letters)
VO: ( I think he typed in google ) What is the difference between YYYY and YYY
Me: Explained YYYY , And said I don’t know what is YYYY
VO : How many modules you developed in this project,
Me: I am into support of all the modules, not developed any modules,
VO: What is your Salary?
Me: India Or US?
VO: India
Me : #.# Lakhs p.a
VO : ( Signed some papers and gave me 2 set of I-129s and I 797s ) You will need this in the border.
       You will get your passport in a week.
Me : Thanks a lot sir
VO : (Smile)
That is it.
As everyone says Speak in confidence, Practice, Write down answers, do mock interviews, mirror interview, Read as much as from immihelp.com and Google, that’s 50% - YOUR HARDWORK -, Rest 50% - those who believe in god can say, GOD’s GRACE else you can call it LUCK

I had gone to embassy for l2 with my husband. he applied for l1-B
his l1 got approved.
But in my case i work for an IT company and i already have L1-B valid till july 2011. VO said he wud suggest to contnue using L1 and gave me a yellow letter stating that i should come back when my L1 expires.
he marked a cross on others and wrote there "wait for L1 expiration"

Now do i need to wait till July
OR
 can i go and ask them to cancel my L1 as i dont need it anymore and get l2 stamped for me.

3. What do you do here ?

5. What is your salary here ?

To My Wife 3 questions

1. When did you get married ?
2. How did you guys meet ?
3. Can you show me the wedding album.

Had my interview in Hyd. Ws cool and here are the questions asked.

4.What is your specialized knowledge?

My L1B got approved today.Interview was quite simple and went only for 1 min:)

VO: Where are you going to US?
Me: going to **** **

VO: What are your specialized skills?
Me: I explained Technical and domain expertise.

VO: For which client you are working:
Me: **** **

VO: Are you single or married?
Me: Single

Then VO smiled and said your visa has been approved:)

Thanks to this site for providing valuable information to us. I had my visa interview in Chennai Consulate on 24th Jan and got it approved. Below are the questions asked:

Question : How many years of experience you have with this company?
Answer : I have 4.4 years of experience with this company.

Question: Who is your client?
Answer : ZZZ. ( He had trouble in understanding the client name so I had to tell 4 times. I think he had not heard the company name before)

Question : What is your project?
Answer : AAA (My project name) is a product made for the health care market. It is used to find out disruption whenever there is any change in the provider network. The disruption will be given in terms of members, claims and claims dollar.

Question : What is your current role?
Answer : I am the technical lead for my project. I have been working on the architecture design and framework development of the project. My works includes preparation of Technical documents, planning, estimation, designing and implementation of the requirements.

Question : How many years of experience you have with your client?
Answer : Totally I have 3.8 years of experience with ZZZ.

Apart from how you perform in the interview, I noticed that having more experience with the company and the client is the main criteria on which they decide. We just need to have confidence once we speak. They don’t expect long answers for any question. As I am from development side, so while I was telling my role he was hearing very carefully and was noting down the important works that I do here on one piece of paper. Having at least one round of mock interview prior really helps.

My interview was scheduled at 7:30am and after completing all the formalities i was in front of VO by about 8:25am.

VO: Who is the client
Me: ZZZ
VO: She didn't understand, asked me to spell it
Me: Followed the instructions
VO: What specialization you have ?
Me: YYYY technology
VO: How many years of experience in the tool
Me: YYYY yrs
VO: Why you have been chosen for that?
Me: I started explaining why I am eligibile, she interrupted in between and asked
VO: Do you know any other specialized skill apart from the xxx
Me: Yes i know YYY
VO: How many years of experience in YYY?
Me: yyyy years of experience

The she said "Your visa has been approved, you will recieve in 1week". I thanked her and came back :-)

Be confident, that's the important thing.
