Unfortunately my L1B was not approved.
Can anyone tell what does 221g form, section 8 CFR 214.2 (1)(ii)D and INA 101(a)(15)(L) means.

Regards,

Me: Good Day officer (Interview was at Noon)
VO: Give me a couple of min. I will be ready.
Me : Moved back
VO: You can wait here.
….
VO: Please pass give me the folder
Me: Followed the instructions
VO: Can put left thumb on the finger printing machine

Me: ZZZ
VO: Which Visa are you applying?
Me: L1 Blanket
VO: You held a H1 visa. Extension was denied
Me: Yes the extension was denied in Sep 2010. Subsequently moved out of us. Now my company asked me to apply for L1 B visa.
VO: Please give me your old passport
Me: Followed. (She cancelled the earlier visa and returned the passport)
VO: Do you know why was your extension denied
Me: I have not seen the documents. But as per my company the justification for denial was in-conclusive
VO: What is your US salary on L1
Me: USD YYYY
VO: What was your salary on H1
Me: I said that it was little lower than L1 (Infact salary was same. But I had not calculated per month when I gone for the interview)
VO: Are you going to same client as H1
Me: Yes
VO: What is will do in US
Me: I will be associated with YYYY application. This is one of most critical applications in xxx.

Me : You are correct Maam. You know a lot about ZZZ very few people can tell these things about ZZZ (We both laughed)….
So on YYY i.e Zzz is an ABC technology. All the modules are coded using DDD Languge. YYYY is starting a new mfg. plant.
This plant is based in ABC State of US. We need to host application for this new plant.
VO: What is your Comapyies Specialization tool.
Me : For the ABC plant start up we will be using YYYY Property tool called as ZZZ.ZZZ is an End to End tool which is used for development project.
This tool has the capability to track the project from Inception stage to Sunset Stage. I am proficient user of this tool.

Question to my wife

L1A approval
Hi All,

First and foremost I would like to thank you all for the wonderful discussion forum we have here and all your useful comments posted. It is surely a great confidence builder at those last minutes :-)

I had an early morning slot at the Delhi embassy on 24th Jan 2011.After the initial scanning and the deposit of the drafts I waited for my interview.

There was only 1 counter(16) for the L1 visas.Since the gentleman just before me was denied an L1,I was wondering about the mood of the VO.But she was neutral.

She started looking at my passport for sometime, since I had 3 US visas already in there, she was assured. And that I think made her ask just 4-5 very typical questions to me.

1>How long with the org was her first question to which I answered 5 years 5 months.

2>Why are u going to the US?
I told my roles and responsibility to which she interrupted inbetween asking about my team structure in the US.I replied in details. She asked me about my supervisor as well.

3>Do you have Hire and Fire authority?
To which the answer for L1A should always be YES.

Pat came her response U will get your passport in 5 days.Carry the documents with you(she meant the petition).

I thanked her and came back happy:-)

Successful Interview (L-1B)
My interview was on 5 January 2011 at the US Consulate, Chennai.

Questions Asked:
1) Which company do you work for?
      - ZZZ
2) How long have you been working with ZZZ?
      - nn years
3) What is your specialized knowledge?
      - "My specialized knowledge lies in three areas - development & integration using SAP technologies, YYYY proprietary tools & methodologies, and offshore development processes. .. blah blah"
4) What is your salary in India?
      - Rs. nnnn

Then the consular officer said my visa is issued.

My Suggestions to L-1 visa aspirants:
1) Prepare well for the interview.
2) Practice in front of a mirror, but do not learn the answers by heart.
3) Answer the questions confidently. You have done nothing wrong, nor is there anything to fear.

All the very best.

Please help me
Hi

I was informed by a colleague at work that from January 1, 2011, a new rule has been enforced for L1 visas - if an employee is issued a visa for a client 'xyz', then he/she must travel to the U.S. at least once for the client 'xyz', and only then can the employee be allowed to work for a different client.

Has anyone heard/read about this? If yes - please share any URL that you might have where this change was published.

In my case, the project was shelved after my petition was approved, but the visa was issued for the same client since discussions are ongoing to revive the project. Will this be considered in case the project is not revived?
