L1 Approved but not smooth jouney
Thanks to moderators of immihelp forum.

My L1 application got approved on 29 March 2010 @ Hyderabad cousulate. I'm happy for that but whole process is not smooth... so much of tension... so much of waiting...

My interview scheduled @ 10:30 AM and they allowed me inside @10AM, after security checks deposited my cheque at cash counter and that person filtered my documents and asked me not to distrub this structure

Then waited for some time and around 10:30AM my documents got verified and they signed on that with "pims ok" then they asked me for finger prints at another counter and its done. Till this part everything was smooth then i have collected a token from waiting room Service type is "A-xxx"

I'm able to see C-series and E-series token numbers on call borad but not A- series, waited for morethan 2 hours(what happened is they have some technical issues with BEP s/w, hence it delayed) after long time of waiting i was entered to VO's counter.

Me: Good Morning Sir(huh!! its actually noon)
VO: Good morning
VO: So, you going as manager?
Me: no sir, i'm going as xxx
VO: Which is the application you working for???
Me: replied with some xyz...
VO: (trying to type someting to his system) with angry expression saying "whats hell is going..., system is dead slow...."
Me: silent (bit tensed...)
VO: What kind work you are doing currently?
Me: explained to him...
VO: ...again looks like system is not responding his expressions are changing(now, i left my fate to god)

after some time he stamping and signing on my I-129 triplet and returned those to me

Me: Sir, approved na sir?
VO: YES(almost shouted)

Feeling very Happy to hear that golden word. but whole experince is not smooth.

Thank God. Finally i felt God is with me.

L1B and L2 approved
I want to thank the immihelp for providing these valuable information available in the site.
I just attended few hours before, both L1B and L2 got approved.

I have gone through around 9 to 10 pages of this site, and prepared with mock questions.

My Interview was at 8:15 at chennai, We reached by 7:30 itself and stood in the queue. Guard over there was

constantly reshuffling the queue based on the candidate's time slot. First he asked 8am members to come forward to the gate, So I was pushed little behind in the queue. At 7:45 he asked us to move forward. We encountered a counter in gate where the interview letter and passport details are verified. Then security check where they ripped of my entire file and gave scattered papers. I was cursing him and moved forward to another counter.

I was arranging my docs in the folder while standing in the queue, my turn came she asked the entire folder. She

took off all the petition papers and all other docs except DS160,I797,BEP, and interview letter. And she asked not

to change the order. then asked me to write name and passport number behind the DD. Then asked both of us scan all

the ten fingers. She returned the folder which was neatly stapled and arranged. She asked to proceed to next building cash counter.

We took right from this building and reached the next building, where we payed the DD and the receipt was stapled to the docs and asked to proceed straight to another queue. There were 3 standing before me in the queue. I waited for my turn.

The lady inside counter asked to proceed.

Me: Good Morning with a smile
VO: Good Morning and smiled back, and got my folder.
Had a brief look on the form and started typing.

VO: Mam, please put your right middle finger in the scanner.
Vo: Sir, please put your left index finger in the scanner.
Me: Sure.

VO: Who is your client?
Me: Given full name of the client.

Vo: What are you going to do in US for this client?
Me: Explained briefly in a line about my project scope, stressed on "I'll be using my company's proprietary tools".

Vo: How long you are working for this client?
Me: Its a new project, but I have worked in similar projects using same technologies.

VO: How long for those clients?
Me: 3 years

Started typing again

VO: When did you got married?
Me: Since I was expecting project related questions, I paused for few seconds and said the date.

She started laughing and turned to my wife and said don't feel sorry that your husband forget the marriage date.
We all laughed. I got a sense of relief and confirmed that my job is done.

She started signing the papers, and said your visa is approved and you ll get passport in a week.

It lasted only for few minutes and I came out by 8:30 itself.

L1 and L2 visa approved on 24th March.
Thanks to the posts on this site. It was immensely helpful for me in preparing for the L1 interview.
I had my interview on the 24th March at 9:45 a.m. My experience is as follows.

- Reached the consulate at 9:15 a.m.
- Was inside the first door by about 9:30 a.m. Here i was seperated from my wife and kid. The personnel inside basically ripped apart my folders to scan them for envelopes and the likes.
- When he was happy, he left me with the scattered files, which i had to rearrang again. I was let through to the second door.
- Here i met my wife and kid again. Since i was with my kid, i was quickly guided to a pre-scanning counter. The personnel here was very helpful. He helped my rearrange my documents, removing all the unnecessary extra documents and reducing it to the bare minimum- passport, I129, I729, BEP application, experience letter. I was finger printed here and so was my wife.

-From here we moved on to the next building.
-My wife and kid were made to sit, whereas i was asked to stand in the cashier Q to pay my 24000 DD. This took a while and the cashier was continuously on the phone. When i went to the counter, i could hear/see that the phone call was a personal one and the lady bantered away her personal problems onto someone on the other side of the phone line. She callously asked for my DD and quicky threw me back a receipt which i collected and joined my wife and kind at the seats.

- My kid was getting restless, and just when i was sure that i was the next person to be put on the visa Q, i pulled out a Cadbury Gems packet-mega size and gave it to my kid. His attention was immediately taken, he fiddle around with it for a bit, asked for the cover to be opened. Just when the person asked me to get into the visa Q, i opened the cover and gave it to my kid.

- I was asked to join a Q, with the minimum number of people, in this case 1, who was already being interviewed. I could see that the lady was asking a lot of questions. Finally after about 5 mins, and not to soon, since my kid was furiously finishing up the candy and me having no backup for that, the VO was done with the interview. She handed him a pink slip, and the person ahead apologized profusely before leaving.

- I got in line.

VO/me (am not sure) : Good morning

a couple of mins of silence, which i silently appreciated.
- VO: What is your number of years of experience
- me: close to 7 years.
- VO: in which field:
- me: in networking.

a min more of silence, while she type away looking at the screen.

- VO: Oh, i see you have a masters.
- me: I have a MS from the Univ of Texas at Arlington.

30 secs of silence, while she continues to type away.

- VO: What do you intend to do in America.
- me: explained the role.

- VO: What is your role here in India?
- me: explained.

- VO: Where did you work before:
- me: answered. It happened to a big networking company.

- VO: You worked on the same technology there?
- me: nope. I worked on a different router on a completely different protocol.

- VO: how long have you been with the currenty company
- me: 2 yrs.

- VO: So you have gained specialized knowledge in 2 years?
- me: Yes. We developed this product from scratch and we had to know about the system architecture and design to port it onto the new hw ..interupted.

- VO: from scratch?
- me: Yes.

A min more of silence.

- VO: How long have you been married.
- me: coming this may, it will be 4 years.

-VO: Your visa is approved.
- me: Thanks.

My Interview was scheduled at 09.00hrs. I was there at 08.30hrs. In the document pre-scanning stage, I was made to sit for one hour cause the officer there said the application was struck.
Once it cleared i was asked to go further.

Interview.
Me: Hi Mam, Good Morning with a Smile.
VO: No reply, Very seriously typing something.
VO: Can you tell me your specialization
Me: I am specialized in the area of YYYY and blea blea blea...
VO: Tell me more, I still want to understand the specialization, why YYYY has chosen only you for this project.
Me: More blea blea....
VO: Can you place your left thumb on the scanner
Me: Did it.
VO: who is your Client
Me: Client name YYYY .
VO: How long you are working on this Technology
Me: X years
VO: How long you are working on this project
Me: X months
VO: Seriouly typing some thing for few seconds.
Signed the I-129S form and said you will get your passport in three working day.
Me: With a big smile, Thank U mam.

During entire process, VO never smiled and very serious. I had a smiling face till the end.

The Key here is Answer Confidently, dont be nervous, keep smiling, say wat ever is true, They look the case is genuine or not, Try to Convince the VO, its all a Convinceing game, Finally luck will matters a lot.
