L1 - Mumbai 15th March - Approved
Hello All,

I would like to thank each and everyone who has shared there visa interview experience. It helped me a lot.

Here is my experience --

I reached the consulate at 7:10 AM. My interview was scheduled at 8:30 AM. They asked us to wait as the processing for 7:30 AM and 7:45 AM candidates were going on. After 15 Min at 7:25 AM Person came to us and asked us to make a queue just outside the office. He asked us to take out Passport, Draft and Visa interview letter. Another person came and he took those documents and handed over token slip.
Then he told us “your slot is 1 and I will call you by Slot number 1 till then you go back to your previous place and make queue there.” It took around 1 Hour 30 Min and he called us.
We went for security checking and then finger screening. Then waited for the interview. After 5 Min my number were announced then I approached to counter 4. Sweet lady was sitting there.
I greeted her with Good morning  and she replied the same way and told “May I have the token pls”
She started asking question.
1) How long have you been working with the company?
2) What is your designation?
3) What is your salary?
4) Are you married?
5) Is your wife traveling with you?
6) Why Not?
Then she took a long pause and started writing something and finally she told me “your visa has been issued and you will get your passport by courier.”
My other colleagues faced various job related questions which are mentioned in the forum already.
All my colleagues got there visa. No need to worry at all until you have any problem in your document or earlier visa refusal or any problem with the company from where you are applying.

All the best guys

Query regarding L!b for Business Analysts
Hi All,

I read that in most of teh cases Reqt gathering / client interaction is not considered as a specialized skill. What do we do if one has a BA profile and is going onsite to perform Reqt gathering. Is domain expertise considered as Specialized skill? What if there is a shortage of people who are well versed in the domain.

Blanket L1 not approved
Today(March 16, 2010) I attended interview in Chennai US consulate. My L1 visa got rejected. Please find the attached blue slip details.

Interview Details:
The interviewer went through my petition for about 15 to 20 seconds

Following are the questions asked :
1. Reason for my travel?
2. Who is the client?
3. Where will I work and client location?
4. My Role in the US?
5. Why I was selected for EMC India compare to others?
6. Who will be the supervisor?
7. Will supervisor stay in client place or EMC office?

After answering the above questions, Interviewer gave me the blue slip says "our blanket L-1 is not clearly approvable under section 8 CFR 214.2(I) (ii) (D) and INA 101(a)15(L)"

What should I do now ?

I went thru this forum and prepared well for the general questions given here. But by luckily my interview was very smaller one ended within a minute. It has gone as below:

Me: Good Morning Sir..
He: Good Morning.. How are you doing?
Me: I am doing great. Thank you. How about you?
He: Yeah.. Fine. Give me your files..

I gave the files which has my Company name at the front cover.

He: (By seeing the Company name) So you are working in ZZZ, right?
Me: Yes Sir.
He: How long are you working here?
Me: X years Y months
He: Good. Who is your client in US?
Me: YYYY

He noted all these answers in the D160 confirmation letter and looked upon my justification letter and other approval notices for few sec. And he returned all these papers and asked to keep my right middle finger in the scanner. Then those golden words came from him.

He: Ok. You will recieve your passport within 2-3 woking days.
Me:(with little bit surprised) Means, My visa got stamped, right?
He: (with a smile) Yes
Me:Thank you sir. Have a good day ahead.

Thats it.

Tips: Go in full formals to create a professional look. Especially light shirt and dark pants. If possible wear your company ID card. Dont make noise while you are waiting in the queue during the document verification and PAI. Check with the helpers if you are not sure abt the procedure and all of them are polite and will guide us.

Go there with full confidence and you will get it surely.

My wishes to the new ppl going for their stamping. All the best!!

L1B got Approved today @ Hyderabad!!
Hi,

My L1B has been approved today at Hyderabad Consulate. My experience might not be different from others but one thing i would suggest is the interview will not be difficult at all. Please keep in mind that you are applying for a visa in specialized category (Which means you are Special :) and YOU should realize it before making the VO believe the same!!). Going through the success stories in this forum will surely help. But also please focus more on the rejection experiences. That way you will know what not to do and there by you can be careful and i'm sure the probability of getting through will be more than 95%.

My Interview:

Me : Good Morning Ma'm..How are you doing today?
VO : Great Sir! How abt you?
Me : Great!Thanks!
VO : (An Indo American :)) So what's your overall experience with the company?
Me : 3 years and 6 months
VO : Which Client?
Me : XYZ
VO : Since how long in the current Project?
Me : 1 Year
VO : What is your role?
Me : Explained what my role is..(Don't give a single word answer..Better elaborate in a line or two)
VO : Where is the client location?
Me : Richmond, VA

Then came the golden words.."Your Visa is Approved Sir :) You will get it in a week's time!!"

As ever body here says the only Mantra is be brave and be confident with a smile on your face..Even if you're cooking stories do it with confidence :P..All the best to all the aspirants..This is such a great forum and it had truly helped me..Once you go through this forum you might actually realize at the end that the interview is so simple..'coz this will prepare you for the worst..Kudos to immihelp

Thanks!

Interview : 08:45 AM Hyderabad, AP

L1B Blanket got approved
Hi All,

I got my L1B approved on Thursday. Thanks to immihelp.com and the people who posted their experience both good and bad. The questions were no different. Here is how it all went...

VO: Hello Sir!
I: Good morning sir! How are you doing?

VO: I am fine, thank you. How are you doing?
I: I am doing good, thank you.

He took my documents and asked to scan my thumb.
VO: Who is your client
I: ZZZ

Guess he knew about the client so he didn't ask me about the client or their business.

VO: What will you doing there?
I: I will be doing the development activities for a new product that is going to be launched by my client soon. The development activities includes development of code, testing...

He stopped me in between and asked..
VO: What kind of product?
I: I just told a line about the product that goes inline with the business of my client.

He stopped me again and asked
VO: What are your specialized skills?
I: I told about my skills.

VO: How much experience you have with current client?
I: X years and y months.

VO: and your total experience?
I: X years and y months.

VO: Did you work perviously in someother company with same skills?
I: Yes

VO: Which company?
I: YYY

VO: Your visa is approved.
I: Thank you sir
VO: Thanks

I would like to thank a guy who posted on March 08, 2010 at 06:10:56 PM. I couldn't get the name as signature says Need Privacy. I dont know if all will be looking to old posts but I request you all to check it. It was very useful for me.

Here is my experience/observation.

When I went for interview the atmosphere made me nervous. While standing in queue(Chennai consulate hasn't got token system) I found in 3 counters taking interview for L1B (others for B1, language counter etc). Of those 1st guy's record was going like - rejection, approved, 3 rejections. 2nd - approved, rejection, approved. 3rd - a guy was there for almost 20 mins and finally rejected. This was the situation when it was my turn next. I guess this can make lot of people nervous :). Finally I went to the guy who rejected 3 visas and he approved mine.

So the conclusion is dont worry about others result. Dont get nervous. If possible learn from others mistakes if you can hear them. It is not only luck. Infact I never consider myself lucky. So you can create your luck. Here is what you can do...

Remember L1B is for transfer to your company in US (not for client place) based on ur SPECIALIZED skills as in US there is no one available with skills that you possess. So you must highlight it. Knowing or working in tools is not a specialized skill as it can be learned. A guy was rejected infront of me. Requirement analysis or client interaction, offshore co-ordination is again not a speciallised skills as it can be done by business analyst or managers or it can be done from offshore. Another guy who explained this for 2o mins was rejected saying that inform your HR to apply under different category.

Here is what you can do...

When they ask about your duties at offshore and onsite never give same answer for both. If both are same then you can very well do it at offshore. Emphasize that you will be doing development at onsite like I will be developing the code, testing and deploying the application and in offshore you may tell that something like I do maintenance activities and defect fixing or minor enhancements or secondary level support etc. Avoid telling that you will be doing maintenance or support work as this can also be done at offshore.

When they ask about speciallized skills then tell about your basic skillset and highlight them. Do not give stress to other things like offshore co-ordination/ client interaction/ documentation as these are not specialized skill. Also avoid telling that you will be working on tools. If needed then only tell about your certifications or your knowledge on client business but keep it at low profile. You can tell about some technical achievement.

Prepare all your answers couple of days before as they will not be asking anything apart from what people have been posting. Stand in front of a mirror and practice answering. This will improve your confidence a lot. People normally make mistake as they dont practice and try to improvise. While improvising people might tell something that may lead to rejection. I felt that when the guy who explained for 20 mins and got rejected.

Be confident, no matter what happens to others. It all depends on the 5-10 mins that you spend there. Take it very seriously if your future depends on it. Prepare your answers well and avoid improvising unless required. Create your luck. Wishing you all the best.
