It's not shocking
Hi Rohit,
I've read your story. It's neither ridiculous nor shocking.Acually they thought a person with such capability would certainly snach atleast hundred of jobs. They got scared.Don't be disheartened. They don't deserve you.In my company they allowed visa to a person who was in support job and he did not have any specialized knowlwdge or tool experience. He had only 1 yr total IT experience. But they denied visa a 5 yrs experienced guy who developed a improvised sensor tool which is still being used in my company. That guy had 4 yrs btech in cse and 2 yrs mtech in cse. Both applied for L1 blanket.
How can you justify this???????
Can you imagine what the VO told the second guy at interview?
"I do not think you have any specialized knowledge or experience for this visa category"

L1 Denied twice
Who told that people going with BEP the interview is formality? I was denied twice L1 Blanket with BEP. Yes twice. I have computer engg degree and I have two petents with my company. For those invensions I have world wide recognision from International Petent Commitee.
Still US consulate think that I do not have specialized knowledge. How much specilaized knowledge they want which is more than petent submission and invention? Last time they did not even ask me any qns.Directly they denied visa.
Now I'm thinking to enquire if police case or terrorist activity has been lodged againts me without my knowledge.

L1B Approved :-)
Thanks a lot for all who shared their experiances here.It helped me a lot in boosting up the confidence.
BTW, i have attended my interview on 11-Feb @ hyd and reached the consulate 30 min early.
People over there are very cooperative and friendly.

I have atended using BEP(Business executive program) through my company, i think for those who are having BEP letters, interview is just formality.

VO:What is ur degree?
Me: I have completed XYZ in < YYYY > year.

 continued typing in system

VO: where are you going stay?
ME: in <XYZ> city < YYYY > state.

thatsall, she said , application has been approved , and will receive passport in weeks time.

Be confident
Dress formal (tie will add value)
Smile on your face.

Comments/Suggestions:
---------------------
1.White shirt and a tie really did magic for me.

2.When greeting have a good smile on your face. Don’t look tensed.

3.When entered in to lobby be alert as the VO’s will be watching you as they interview the other persons. They will try to read your body language, how you sit, stand, walk, etc.

4.When answering just see in the VO’s eyes and answer it. Don’t think of right or wrong just answer the question what ever comes in the mind. They will just check your confidence level; if you answer correctly looking here and there they will assume that you are not genuine. So, be careful.

5.Just imagine if you are VO, in what way you will judge the candidate whether he is genuine or not. You don't know anything about him or his project. You need to judge him only by his confidence and attitude. So, concentrate on it and it will be done.

VISA Interview at New Delhi Consulate
My reporting time was 945 and My VISA was approved by 1130 Only.
People were very helpful and lots of Indians are working in US Consulate so one will never find it an alien place.

My Observings

1.Be Confident – This is the key, they observer you when you will be waiting in front of the counters, especially how you stand, your body language. Greet him/her for sure, 15% job will be done is done here.

2.Wear Formal Dress, A Tie will add value.

3.Speak nicely: Don’t try to pour your technical knowledge there, neither they are techie nor they want to know how much you know, They just check if you are genuine and have the confidence. I saw getting on Business VISA getting rejected just because that guy was using so much technological words (jargons).Tell in Layman term what your project all about, just guess you are telling some one who doesn’t have any technical expertise.

4.Most of the time VO will be working on PC and ask you something, they don’t show you their expression, and don’t waste your time reading that, Your each answer must not be more than 2 sentences max whether he is looking at you or not.

5.Tweak terms that they can be understood by any one.

Sharepoint- better use Knowledge & Information storage.
Servers : machine where codes are deployed.
Orcale :Data Storage.
Java/J2EE: Programming language

TIPS about New Delhi Consulate

You can Park your Vehicle a bit away in a park. Just ask someone.
Bags can be carried with you inside but no Electronic items are allowed.
Lockers are available; you can deposit your phone there.

L1B Visa Approved
Today i had the Visa interview at 8:30 Slot. After Initial checks and Document verification, i was asked to pay the Fees (Deposit the DD at the Cash Counter). After this i was sent to the place where Visa interviews were being taken.

The attendant asked all L1 applicants to queue up on the 1st counter. At this counter a person wearing a waist coat with a bow and Tie was interviewing the applicants. I was anxiously waiting for my Turn.

Then my Turn came.

Me-Good Morning Sir.(with a smile )
VO- ( Smiled )Good Morning.( pointing at my documents)
ME-gave the documents and waited.
another VO who was taking interviewing student visa on the next counter suddenly came up.
VO- one second pls
ME - sure sir.
VO returned after two minutes. At this time i was very tensed.
VO- sorry for the Delay. ( started checking the Petition and BEP Covering letter )
VO- wait for a second sir.
VO- came back again after a minute and asked " So what kind of work you will be doing for XX client"
Me- Answered that i will be working on a integration project for the client.
VO- Thats it sir, your Passport will be Couriered to you in a week's time. Your interview is done. (returned me the signed copies of the Petition and retained my passport with him )
Me- Bit surprised as there were no other questions and i Just Thanked and walked away.

Oh God!! What a roller coaster. Never thought it would just be this much.

I Sincerely thank The moderators of this website and all other applicants who had taken time in posting their experience. It Proved very vital.

As its been Said,
** make sure you visit the consulate in Full Formals, with Tie and display your company ID.
** Being Confident and answering in simple terms are the keys.

Wishing success to all future applicants!!

Barath
