L1B Individual Petition
Hello All,

Thanks to all for adding their experiences and I spent good amount of time in reading the experience before my interview & it helped me lot in terms of preparing for what kind of questions have been asked and tips.

My interview was at 10:30 A.M in chennai consulate. I went to VFS lounge at Gopalapuram around 9 A.M with my wife & kid (Expecting would have parking space for Car). Unfortunately they don't have parking space and finally parked in the same road. Paid 200/-Rs per head for entry ticket (No fee for kids up to 5yrs) which includes locker facility, a cup of coffee with sandwitch from cofee day and To & fro to consulate. At the VFS office entry they do through checking. After refreshing they took us to consulate around 9:30 A.M it self in VFS van.

Even though there was huge queue, people coming thru VFS are allowed to join very near to the first security check and passed thru all the formalities. We almost came out at 10:40 A.M from consulate with positive reply. Here are the questions we faced.

me: Gave all docs. Then Good Morning. How are you doing?
VO: No Reply? looking at docs.
VO: what project you are going to work on?
me: About to show our product,
VO: I don't want to see anything, just tell me.. (little roughly)
me: Politely explained that my company is product company and blah.. blah
VO: How many years you are working with this company?
me: 4 years and 5 months
VO: Suddenly turned to my wife & asked when did u got married?
since my wife was carrying our son, she didn't heard that and later I moved her to front and carried him:
mywife: xxxx day & year
VO: which place?
my wife: mentioned City name.
VO: whether it is Hall or house like?
my wife : Yes Kalyana Mantapam.
VO: what is the name of it?
my wife : mentioned the name. (Fortunately she remembered it, I forgot about it & never expected they will ask)
VO: where did your husband studied his degree?
my wife: mentioned my college name.
VO: where did your son born?
my wife : mentioned city name.
VO: I need the hospital name?
my wife ; Mentioned the nursing home.
VO: what is the name of doctor?
my wife : mentioned the doctor name.
VO: We will courier the pass port and said thanks.
me : Said thanks and came out.

After coming out, VFS van picked us back from consulate to VFS office. We had free snacks and left. Thanks.

L1 visa - 221 (g) 4 years back - can I apply again from Europe?
Hi,

Can someone advise me about my below mentioned US L1 situation? Thanks in advance.

I went to US for training from October 2000 to March 2001.

My company applied for my L1 and I got it.

I was in US on L1 from Feb 2002 to Jan 2004.

Went to Mumbai consulate for re-stamping of my renewed L1 in March 2004 but my L1 was
refused under section 221 (g). Consulate wanted following additional documentation:

Last 3 years tax returns of my company in US
Last 3 years balance sheet of my company in US
List of all employees working in US

At the same time there was another project for me in europe, so my company applied
for my netherlands residence permit which I got and am currently in the netherlands
since last 4 years.

I joined the company in netherlands in April 2008.
They want to send me to US for training for 2 weeks.

My question is:

Can I apply for US B1 visa from Netherlands?
As mentioned above, my previous L1 visa is on hold 221 (g) since March 2004. (more than 4 years now)
Is there any risk that the VO here in US consulate in Netherlands will ask about previos 221 (g)?

Not sure how do I handle this situation.

Can someone help me?

Thanks.

Got through L1-B stammping
Would like thank ImmiHelp fourm for the help in way to prepare for my VISA PAI on 19th Sept.

The Qustions were like this,
1.Why do wnat to Go to US?
2.How long u have been with the Current Company?
3.Who is your Client?
4.What is your Project?
5.Who was your Previous Client?
While in the Queue, you will notice how others do the Interview. do not get carried away by looking at others rejections. if you have proper justification then VISA is your right. prepare well that's the only way.
VO are very Helpful, do see them as a problem. start with a smile and Give them proper & quich aswer as peoplw will be in Queue.

the less time you take of their's the more chances that you get the VISA.

Wish you all the Best!

L1 Blanket approved
First of all I would like to thank everybody whoever posted their interview exp either it is success or failure. This site really helped me what are do's and what are don'ts.

Well, when it come to my turn I had attended visa interview on L1 B and it got approved. My interview was scheduled at 9.45 AM and I reached consulate by 9.00 AM by that it was already very queue.

Below are the questions asked by VO.

what you do in the project
What kind of applications you develop?
How long you have been with XYZ company?
How long you have been in the current project?
what are your specialized skilss?
Do you work in the client place?
what is your salary?

Finally she said i will be receiving my passport through courier in couple of days.

My tips

Be confident, speak slow and clear.
keep smile on the face.
Observe the people how they are answering and you can learn most of the things from them because you can see approvals and rejections infront of you.

ALL THE BEST.

Visa approved at Kolkata consulate (16th Sep '08)
Hi All,

My visa got approved on 16th sep '08.

The questions were common and this site helped me a lot to practice.

How long have you been working in YYYY company?
Who is your client?
You are going to which location?
Who was your previous client?
What will be your role in the current project?
Tell me something about the project you are going for?

Then the VO informed me that they will send my passport by courier and they gave me pink slip.

Few tips:

Try to reach there as early as possible.
Have a good knowledge of the things you are going to say.
If their mood is good and luck clicks the visa is yours.
Don't fumble. Be smart and confident.

PA on sep15th at Chennai consulate
Bfore u go to ivw just note these points..

-> wear a formal dress with tie which u'll be treating professionally.

-> give them short answers in just 1 sentence, dont stammer.

-> bfore u go to the counter see how the VC's are handling others like how long they take for one person and whether they reject anyone, if u see a person standing for more than 3mins, my advice is never go to tht counter, u'll have ur self choice of opting any of the 5 counters in front of u but unless the security pulls u to a specified counter..
