L1, L2 Visa

Please share questions along with the answers, don't use any generic terminalogies explain, it is not going to help in way.
Please share the exact words you used

I attended on 30th june at chennai consulate for L-1B. I took my son and my wife for L2 on the same day. VO just asked them to sit and took my interview. I was travelling to my Head quarters (HQ) in USA. Actually I was about to work as a project co-ordinator, but my attorney did not write anything as such in my petition. He mentioned that I will be doing my current tasks even in my HQ. I was not aware that I have the right to change the document. I felt that my attorney knows much better. Even my HR manager signed the same doc. So left it as such and took the same to embassy. VO asked me
1. Where are you currently working, for how many years are you with this company, how many years of total experience and where are you going? He asked for the petition i.e., I-797 and took a look.
2. He then simply turned to page2 of form I-129S and then looked at my tasks which I will perform in my HQ. It was writen as "Perform automated testing of <company name> product". He said that he cannot give me visa as it was related to automated testing, but I tried to explain him of my actual task i.e., project co-ordinator for a project. But he said that nothing as such is mentioned in the document. But my attorney has mentioned the same in a letter to embassy and tried to show the vO the same. But VO was reluctant to see as he want eveyrthing to be in form I-129S and so he is rejecting. I feel that automated is the word that ditched me. So be aware. Now, I am planning to reapply with edited doc.

hey on one hand u said u are here for 2 years and then u said u are goin to join 2 ppl! if u are already in project then whom are u joinin? that must have raised a doubt in the VO's mind.

My appointment was 7:45 AM and I went to the consulate by 7:00 Am and they allowed me by 7:10 and after all the process I reached the interview hall. My interview started at 10:05 AM and it went like this.

Me: Hi Good morning!!
He: Good Morning!!
    He gone through the documents and asked
    Who is your client?
Me: I told my client name
He: For which Project you are going for?
Me: Told project name and tole "I have been working in this project for the past 2 Years"
He: How many people are there?
Me: Already 2 ppl are there and I have to Join them.
He: Keep your thumb finger in the scanner and press gently
Me: Done
He: Took the blue slip and tick the "Your Blanket L1 Application is not clearly approvable under section 8 CFR 214.2(I)(ii)(D) and INA 101(a)(15)(L)" option and gave the passport back to me.

I am not clear with this option if anyone have any idea please let me know.

I would like to thank this portal for the support extended towards my US visa interview.

   Today I attended the VISA interview in chennai.

   Everything went well and they will send my passport thru courier within 3-days.

 

My interview went like this,

 

Me : Good afternoon mam. How are you doing?

 

Interviewer : doing great. How long you are in HCL?

 

Me : 18 months mam.

 

Interviewer : What is your project?

 

Me: Explained about my project in two lines.

 

Interviewer : what you are going to do at onsite?

 

Me : I am going to integrate all the modules of YYYY software to YYYY hardware using HCL proprietary tolls named YYYY and YYYY .

 

Interviewer : what is the specialized knowledge you have?

 

Me : I got master certification in YYYY and YYYY tools which I would use at my clients place.

 

   Finally she said, everything looks fine and your VISA has been approved. We will send your passport thru

   Courier. Have a nice trip.

   The entire interview time was around 2 minutes.

This site was helpful for my interview.I had on 2-july morning around 11.00 am in chennai U.S consulate.Interview was pretty cool, just 2 questions:

Q:How long with the company?
Q:So, whats your purpose of travel?

Answer to the point and talk about only the company's tools and not on technical stuff.Be confident in your answer and the visa is yours!!

Intially for 9 a.m interview i waited from 7.45 a.m.I entered the first security check@ 9.30 a.m.They gave me pink slip while standing the line outside.

I entered and waited for 1 hour for calling for finger scanning and finally done.Carefully watched for my pink slip number.Finally they called @ 11.10 a.m

I entered the VO room

Me:-Good morning
VO:-Hai
Me:-Hai
VO:-Do you work for xxx Company
Me:-Yes
VO:-How long
Me:-x yrs 1 months
VO:-Who is your client
Me:- YYYY YYYY YYYY
VO:-Have you ever travelled to U.S
Me:-No

Finally she told your passport will be couried and i was done.

I have read all the experiences in this site before going to PA, but unfortunately my petetion was rejected
I was just asked 3 questions.
1) who is your client
2) How many years have you been working for this client?
3) What is your specialized knowledge

I think the VO was not convinced for my answer to the last question, I didnt mention about the company specific tools, instead i mentioned about the client tools. So please mention your company specific tools in your PA, dont omit that.

First of all thanks to everyone who shared their experiences...they were really helpful, gave me a very good idea of process at the consulate.

My PAI happened at Delhi and it was very simple - VO asked just 2 qns:
How long u r working for this company?
Who is ur client?

thats all visa is approved!!

Nothing to worry about....first thing u need to know is this is not an interview where they will test ur technical/functional knowledge...this is just a formal personal appearance round and understand that VO's are their to help us....they don't look for reasons to reject.They are very friendly and they know how important that visa is for us.. As long as u have perfect documentation...and a valid reason....there is no reason to reject.

Make sure you have all the documents in proper order, the vfs guys at the entry gate will help u in arranging the docs in proper order - dont skip that part make sure that u have ur docs verified by a vfs guy before going to the fee counter. For L1B the order should be:
1. visa appointment letter
2. DS 156, 157
3. BEP letter
4. 3 sets of Petition I-797 and I-129
5. Passport and DD for 22k

All the best....nothing to worry about....you will get ur visa...gud luck!!
