OCI matchup timeline at San Francisco consulate
As part of renewing the OCI card for my minor son (due to getting a new passport), I submitted the match up documents to CKGS (old OCI card and old passport) per their email last week. I believe that this is the final stage before I get back new OCI card. The new OCI card is already with the consulate.
My documents for match up are now with the Consulate at SFO for decision making as of May 22. Does anyone know how long the consulate takes to process this and hand the new OCI card to CKGS for delivery back to me.

OCI Card for Foreign Spouse of PIO/NRI
I just want to share my story to encourage any foreign spouses applying for an OCI on the basis of their marriage to a person of Indian origin. My husband and I were unsure if I was really eligible for the OCI, since I had no prior affiliation with India before marrying him. I was born in the USA, and my ancestors were from Germany and Ireland. Basically, I am a white American. Perhaps it seems obvious that I could apply for an OCI, but we could find few examples of spouses like myself applying for an OCI.
My husband is an NRI. We submitted copies of our marriage certificate (had just completed two years), birth certificates, passports, notarized affidavit of marriage, etc. I signed all photocopies with my name and the date and the statement, "I attest that this is a true copy of the original." We sent the documents to Washington, D.C. on January 16, 2017, and I just received my OCI on May 17, 2017!

OCI received in 30 days at Houston mission
OCI received for my new born baby in 30 days. I visited the consular camp at dallas with all the documents to be sent. Consular officer verified every document with their originals and wrote "Please accept - Verified" on the document and made me and my wife to self attest on all the documents. He also told not to send original US passport as it is verified. I sent the documents to CKGS(without original US passport) and it was sent to consulate next day after document receipt.
I strongly suggest to visit consular camp to get documents verified before sending. This would expedite the process. Check www.cgihouston.org for upcoming consular camps. Each mission has their own website which will list the consular camp dates.

Here is my take-away:
1) Read and follow the instructions exactly. Attach all requireed documents. Use check list.
2) The process and the website has been streamlines much better than it was (Good job by CKGS)
3) Updloding the documents to the GOI website could be challenging, mostly because of file size limitation. I had to use lot of image compression to bring the file size down. If you are not a techie, you may need to get some help.
4) CKGS does not have much visibility once the paper work leaves their office. They can only quote official processing time. If you insisit they may be able to follow-up with consulate or Delhi office. But I don't know if that is effective.
5) New OCI applications seem to get processed faster than "OCI in-lieu of PIO". Most of the delay or inaction seems to be in New Delhi.
6) @CCISFO works fast and responsive in twitter. My passport renewal in Jan2017, just took 10 days. (2-3 business days in consulate)

OCI application submitted at govt site in 2016
Hi Everyone,
I am applying for PIO to OCI and submitted application at the Govt. site in December 2016. I have now sent application to Chicago CKGS for processing. I received email today saying my application is on-hold and I need to submit a new application at the Govt. site as my 2016 application is not valid in 2017. Has anyone had similar experience? Can someone please confirm if I need to submit a new application at the Govt.site.?

OCI Card/E- Visa
Hi Guys - I have a situation.
Both myself and my wife are Indian citizens currently in US on a work visa.
Our daughter is born in US.We have applied for a OCI Card for our 4 month old daughter.
The OCI card has been processed and is in transit and should reach us in another 2 weeks
We have a family emergency so my wife and daughter have to travel to India in a couple of days.I have applied for a E-Visa for my daughter which is valid for 2months.
But my wife and kids may need to stay in India for more than 2 months.
I would be travelling to India next month (with my daughter's physical OCI card).
I checked with the FRRO office and they mentioned that if we enter with Evisa,we would leave with E-Visa with no exceptions even if you have OCI card with you while leaving
Did anyone face similar issue while travelling to India?
