How to check status?
How am I supposed to check status of new OCI application (SFO), received by VFS 5 days ago, they sent me text and email saying they received it and will update status in 48-72 hours, after that If I go to Gov site to check status it says they didn't find any record and I should check only after it's submitted to them (via VFS I am guessing?) , VFS has no thing as track status on their site..
What am I missing here?

New OCI- so painful and dragged out
I spent a whole week meticulously prepping my application...it took me almost 2 evenings to upload the documents because of the restrictions of Mpegs and pdf format and a very clunky website. It almost feels like they don't want to make the process streamlined, the checklist is 4 pages and I pored over it to make sure I have everything in. After almost $380, for 2 weeks I had no idea what was happening with the application, I did have the FedEx delivery receipt but after that... a void :(
And the Friday at 6 pm I get a message ( after repeatedly emailing VFS and not getting any meaningful replies) that my parents' names are different on Indian and American passports, also my Naturalization is missing !!!! The missing part is impossible, I had copies of everything I sent...this really is worse than a dental root canal.
Parents names don't have middle names on the American passport, so they asked me to upload something to the effect that "I agree to changes".
Spent another $30 to send them the Naturalization. I'm ready to give up...so inefficient and unprofessional. So what is the point of uploading documents if they won't even refer to the documents there? Sorry! Venting
March 3rd- sent the application to VFS at SFO

Need help on OCI Documents required Information (Marriage Certificate)

I am Indian born Naturalized US Citizen and my wife is US born citizen.
I want to apply for OCI for myself only, as my wife doesn't need OCI.
Question 1: Do I need to submit marriage certificate If I am applying only for myself?
VFS global website has unclear Information on marriage certificate.

Question regarding submitting hard photocopies of documents
I'm preparing for my OCI new adult application. Do I need to "self attest" all my required hard photocopies for VFS submission except notarized US passport? If so, what should I write on photocopies?

New OCI card application NY
Hi, I have applied for a new adult oci card via vfs and had some questions regarding the status update. As of the yesterday the status said “your application has reached the Embassy/Consulate and is under process”. On 03/19/2021 (Today) the status changed a bit to “your application has reached the Embassy/Consulate and is under REVIEW process”. I wanted to know what’s the difference between these two statuses. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Enter your non indian passport number and File reference number.
In case you are unsure what your File reference number is
click on the link in the page or https://ociservices.gov.in/forgotRegis
and it will take you to a new page enter your date of birth and Foreign passport number( Not Indian Passport).
It will give you your File Reference number as well as the latest status.

NEW OCI after age 50 (because of new US passport after old US passport expired) - Struggles with VFS
The worst experience so far with VFS.
Nine days ago, I received a text from VFS saying they got the fedex courier of my application at SF. When I check for the status several times providing my ARN number and DOB, it gives out a message saying "invalid inputs". I tried calling and realized that they charge money after first free 5 minutes of the call. So, I thought I will keep all details ready at my end and can finish the call within the first five minutes. But, the automated system asks for credit card number even before offering the free five minutes. I was uncomfortable to provide the credit card number to random automated message.
I emailed them three times till now and they respond every 48hours ONLY. In my email, I provided, ARN number, contact phone number, email id (they asked for this in response to my email - even though they have email-id that they are communicating with me as I was emailing them). They have been asking me to provide the courier tracking number!! I am shocked about this request. Nine days ago, I got a confirmation from them that they received the package and I shredded the tracking receipt after receiving that text. I visited fedex and they digged the tracking number, thanks for that.
I provided again my ARN number, email-id, phone number, FedEx tracking number.
I am feeling very stressed to deal with companies like VFS that harass people. I wanted to have OCI in my hand as my mother is unwell and I might have to go any minute. With all the things going on, I feel VFS is harassing me asking me for random details like after confirming they received my package nine days ago. I paid they money they asked. They are not giving service in return.
Imagine, this is just the beginning of my journey to get my NEW OCI (after age 50yrs if I get a new US visa, I need to get a new OCI). Wonder, how the remaining process will be.
Please advice. I hope consulate will read these experiences with VFS.

OCI: Upload forms on Govt website
I'm struggling to compress my documents to 1000KB ( passports etc which needs more than one pages) and upload it in govt site for OCI application? Any suggestions will be appreciated how to upload it in a easier way?
