Chicago N-400 interview
Hi everyone,

I have my N-400 interview scheduled for May 19.

I am still pending on my removal of conditional status for marriage. On the website it is still showing as Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for an Interview.

Has anyone had the same experience? I am wondering how this would be happening. First my removal of condition interview with my husband and then my N-400 interview?

I much appreciate if anyone can share their experience.

Thank you in advance

Diego

N-400 -- Newark, NJ
Hello all,

My N-400 petition was approved and I'm now a US Citizen. Here is my timeline:

March 10, 2020: N-400 Application for Naturalization form was received.
March 14, 2020: Biometrics appointment scheduled
March 29, 2021: N-400 Interview scheduled for May 7th.
May 7, 2021: N-400 application for Naturalization is approved.
May 7, 2021: Oath ceremony completed on same day.

The interview was quite straight forward. The officer was very courteous and kind. The interview itself lasted 15 minutes or so.
She only asked for my passport, green card, and drivers license. She did not ask to see any other documents.
After completing the civics and english test, she asked a bunch of yes/no questions from section 12 of the N-400 application.
She approved my petition and asked me to wait outside (large hall with other applicants) for the oath ceremony. I probably waited for 40 minutes and then they performed the ceremony in a different room. I received my certificate of naturalization.

Good luck to everyone!

N400 APPLICATION: TAX QUESTION
Hi guys! quick question, im filing n400 now but my concern is that I recently just filed my 2019 tax together with my 2020. However, I already paid my penalties and the amount that I owe. For some reason we weren't able to file my tax last year. so im wondering can I still say
"no" to the questions in 6 and 7 in the application?

6.)do you owe any overdue federal, state or local tax?

7.) have you EVER not filed a federal, state, or local tax since you became a permanent resident?

this is the last question and then I can finally file. Thank you

N400 interview at Los Angeles
My green card was marriage based but my I751 application was pending to be approved. We decided my wife and our 18-month baby should come for the interview as well just in case if the officer wants to have I751 and N400 combo interview. We took all the documents (photos from dating till date which includes our family and friends & our baby etc., tax document for 3 years, utility bill, bank statements, house mortgage statements etc.) to prove our relationship.

My interview was scheduled at 7.15 am for N400. Waited in the queue for around 1.5 hrs. in total which includes standing outside the building till we checked in with reception at the respective floor mentioned on the notice. After checking at the reception, we were asked to wait in the waiting room.

After waiting for 15-20 mins my name was called by the officer. I walked to him and the first question he asked was if there was anyone with me, I said yes, my wife is with me and he asked to call her along with me for the interview. The officer said, look at you guys and your baby he said you guys look perfect, he told us that my I751 application is pending and he said all looks great with the application and he is going to approve it. The officer was very very nice !
Note: i never received letter for my I751 interview.

The officer then asked for the N400 notice and green card (i didn’t have green card as my passport was stamped with I551). The officer did not ask for any other documents. Later the officer said he will have the N400 question and English reading and written test. He just asked 6 questions as i answered all 6 correctly. The officer later asked me to read "When is Columbus Day" on the tablet and write "Columbus Day is in October" on the tablet, after which he asked few other questions from the N400 application.

Lastly the officer asked me if i need name change, which i said no and signed on the application on tablet. The officer congratulated me on passing the test and said the oath details will be mailed to me. I asked him if the oath will happen today itself for which he replied it doesn’t happen any more on the same day.

Again i would like to say the officer was extremely nice and comforting he made the whole process stress free and thanks to my wife to take day off and come with me and go through the same stress which I went through 😊 and of course the baby for being patient and charming everyone 😊

Lastly thanks to Mika123Chi for posting all the experiences which I am sure have benefited many applicants. I read each experience of Mika123Chi and comments. Thanks to Xeajhn to post his experience in one of the comment as well 😊

Dallas judicial oath name change certificate
I have heard that some field offices are not giving name change certificates signed by judge at the time of oath ceremony. Instead they are mailing them after couple of weeks.

Anyone who recently attended your judicial oath in Dallas received name change certificate on the same day along with naturalization certificate?

I have my oath ceremony next week. If they do not give name change certificate on same day, I'm concerned I cannot apply for US passport or update DL and SSN card.

I would appreciate if anyone can share their experiences.

San Francisco Naturalization Experience
Hello everyone!

I have finally got my citizenship today.

Applied: 1/17/2020
Biometrics: 2/7/2020
Naturalization interview notice: 4/7/2021
Naturalization interview: 5/5/2021 8:00am
Oath: 5/5/2021 11:15 am

The interview was in person. The immigration officer was very nice. Asked the regular 6 civic and history questions. Now don’t remember which ones, but it is definitely from the 100 questions. Then reading and writing tests on an iPad.

It took around 15-20 minutes, and I was done.

The oath was later the same day. Very well organized.
It took around 15-20 minutes. They gave the naturalization certificates first and asked us to sit. Then one of the supervisors read out loud the oath and everyone repeated after her.

That’s it.

Good luck to everyone!
