Latest Taxes
Hi,

Small Question:

My N400 interview is going to be scheduled in March 2020.

Do I need to file taxes for the last year 2019 before my N400 interview? What if I do not file taxes before the interview?

I have tax returns/transcripts for the last 3 years, and I do no owe IRS any money for those years. Please advise.

My timeline:
March 17, 2019 - we received your application
March 22, 2019 - biometrics scheduled
April 9, 2019 - we reviewed your biometrics
June 6, 2019 - we transferred application USCIS field office for review
July 8, 2019 - We scheduled your interview (which I had to cancel and reschedule)
July 19, 2019 - We canceled your interview
August 8, 2019 - We scheduled your interview
August 19, 2019 - interview day (interview went well. It only took about 10 minutes for my interview, but decision could not be made then and there)

Up until now, there had been no updates. It’s still stuck on “we have scheduled your interview”

Please help, it’s already Feb 2020 which is the estimated completion time, but still no updates. What’s should I do next?

Parking ticket
Is parking ticket or citation considered an offense and should be declared on form N400? Does it have any impact on the case? Does declaring a traffic offense on form N400 show honesty of the applicant?

PROBLEMS WITH FILLING OUT N-400?
First , I just want to thank those who ask questions here because just so you know , your answered questions help us all and we appreciate you .

Anyone have trouble with the pdf applicartion file . Like entering the number or symbol on the A-number or filling out apartment number , etc on the form because it doesn't click (some tabs work but not some other tabs) ?

How do i troubleshoot this ? I've tried several browsers and even restarted my computer but not avail and I'm wondering if any one has gone through and solved this problem ? Please explain how I fix it ?

And if you're wondering why can't I just file online its because I am filing via military service and will have to fill it online (confirmed this with the customer service on the hotline) .

Also , anyone filed through MN through marriage , job or military ? How was your experience and timeline?

Please let me know here and thank you for taking time to read through .

Atlanta
I would like to share with with you guys because this forum helped me so much.
I applied in Atlanta for N400 on 3 years mariage base.

- Oct 19 2019: I submitted my application online
- Oct 26 2019: I received letter for biometrics appointment
- Nov 15 2019: I did my biometrics
- Dec 05 2019: We scheduled your interview
- Jan 14 2020: interview date and online status changed to application approved that same day
-Jan 16 2020: We scheduled your naturalisation ceremony
- And today feb 07 2020: I officially become a US citizen.

The whole process was pretty fast, the interviewed was smooth and very quick less than 10 minutes, we went over my personal information, questions about my trips over the past 3 years, and then the civic questions. The officer told me right there that my application was approved and that I will receive a letter for my oath ceremony.

Good luck to all of you and I will be more than happy to answer any question you might have.

TIMELINE UPDATE: I-751/N400
Here's my updated timeline. I-751/N400

8/1/18 - I-751 Filed/Receipt Date/Receipt#:WAC **** **** *0

6/11/19 - Case was transferred to Potomac from CA

7/12/19 - Biometrics Done

11/20/19 - At this time, processing time for Potomac is 15-16 months 8/2/18. I sent an inquiry but it says it is outside of normal processing time. I called USCIS at 800-375-5283. Agent said that it is outside of normal processing based on the CA service center but since my case was transferred to Potomac she sent an inquiry today with referral ID# T1B **** **** **YSC - allow 30 days for response from USCIS.

11/23/19 - Received RFE

12/6/19 - I mailed the RFE docs such as 3 year bank statements and IRS transcripts, recent pictures, health insurance, leases and mortgages, card envelopes from family and friends that were sent to our addresses, affidavit letter from a friend, plane tickets, and a letter we wrote as to why we moved to 4 different states and total of 6 addresses.

12/12/19 - Potomac SC received my RFE.

12/20/19 - My case was assigned to an officer for response.

1/21/20 - I applied for N400 and USCIS received my application on 1/22/20. Biometrics will be on 2/12/20. Completion estimate is April 2021 or 14 months. Seattle Filer. But I heard from my friends that it shouldn't take that long. For example, my friend had 15 months completion time but he only waited 6 months.

2/7/20 - My card is being produced for I751. So hopefully I receive it this month.

N-400- NYC
Hello everyone,

My N-400 application was approved yesterday at New York Federal Plaza (yay!). I couldn't be more thrilled. Has anyone taken the oath ceremony in NYC? If so, how long did you have to wait between the approval notice and the date of the ceremony? Any shared experience would be very helpful and appreciated. Thank you :)

Below is my timeline, should it be helpful to anyone on this forum:

May 15, 2019: Application sent online (based on 5 year GC)
May 15. 2019: We received your application
May 17, 2019: We scheduled your biometrics
June 5, 2019: Biometrics appointment
January 2, 2020: We scheduled your interview
February 6, 2020: Interview
February 6. 2020: We approved your application

Interview process was smooth and the IO was very nice. He said not to be nervous and to take a deep breath, he really made me feel at ease. Civic test questions were very easy and the English was even easier! I responded to all 6 questions correctly. IO then went through my application, confirmed name, DOB, SSN#, address and work. Updated my travel history because I had taken a few trips between the application submission date and the interview. After that we went through the Yes/ No questions. Once that was done, he asked that I check the spelling of my name then signed. He then told me that he had to finish updating my application and that I'll hear back soon. I left feeling confident and by the time I got home my online status had changed to "We approved your application".

I am waiting now for the oath ceremony to be scheduled, which I hope will be soon. I did not request a change of name.

All the best of luck to everyone still waiting. Please know that the interview is quite straight forward and that you have nothing to be nervous about.
