Naturalization and removal of conditions interview - marriage based
Today I had my interview. Everything good, I was recommended to approve the removal of conditions and it changed the USCIS website status to Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled.
That is not the history. I sent my request for removal of conditions back in July 2020 and my N400 September 2021. Last month I received the notification for my naturalization interview. The letter specifies to come alone with my lawyer and/or interpreter. I went alone, and when I got called for the interview, the agent asked why my husband didn't come? I said that the letter said to come alone, that no one else was allowed. The agent said that is only for the naturalization part, but for the removal of conditions my husband was need it. I almost had a heart attack! I told her if we can wait 30 min for him to arrive, or call him, or video call, but I insisted that the paper says the opposite. She says that we were going to continue without him and if was need we can call him.
Be aware of this and bring your husband for the removal of conditions, even if you didn't received the notification that this interview is for both cases.
Hi everyone, this forum has been very helpful. Im sharing my experience , I applied under the 5 year rule.
Im married to an American Citizen, but I did the 5 year naturalization.
Here is my timeline
April 14, 2021 - Received your Form N-400
April 29, 2021- Biometrics Reuse
Sept 3, 2021- Scheduled interview for 10/21
Oct 21,2021 - Interview ( passed the civic test but my case needed to be reviewed. RFE requested)
Nov 22, 2021- Evidence was received.
Dec 22, 2021- We are actively reviewing your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. Our records showed nothing is outstanding at this time.
December 29, 2021- Approved.
December 29 2021- Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling
Jan 3- Oath Ceremony was sent.
Jan 25- Oath Ceremony!!!
My RFE was required most likely because I travel a lot.
Never more than 6 months at a time and obviously no more than the time allowed. ( 30 months)
I was requested to send my current lease ( sent the past 3 years though) and taxes for the past 5 years.
Thank you Sara. It is strange to note that they do not give importance to senior citizens. We are staying with our daughter. We are paying taxes regularly married filing. We are not regularly working anywhere, except giving some small advisory consultations
Hello fellow dreamers. thank you all for sharing and answering questions. I have been a silent follower since 2020 but today I have decided to ask for assistance from all your experiences that are similar with mine.
Got Permanent Resident through Asylum and Filed after the 5years for N400
Things are taking longer than expected but its starting to get on me and am panicking for nothing am sure
I do not have any record of any sort but still worried because its been 20 months.
I filed the form out of processing time last week and yesterday 01/25/20 they wrote me back and stated:
""Your A- File is located at a Federal Record Centre (FRC) we have requested your file but unfortunately due to Covid all FRC locations
are currently close and only open for emergency request. Without this we are unable to provide a time frame to when your interview will
be schedule"""
Please help on the way forward, is there anyone I can write?? or I just continue with my patience
Thank you in advance and congratulations to the new citizens and the rest of us, lets continue with the good vibes .
We the old couple ( 82 and 74 yrs) have submitted our N400 applications for naturalization in Feb 2021 with PD of 25th Feb. USCIS Receipt was sent on March 26, 2021 with a notice of March 30th Biometric reuse. The online system initially showed an estimated complete processing period of 15 months and now the system is showing still 5 months
With the above information, so far we have not heard anything from USCIS on Interview scheduling. Our FO is Folsom, Sacramento ( CA) County.
With this uncertainties we are unable visit my Son who is in Australia
I do not know why so much time from this County alone while in other counties some have received interviews in just a week after submission. We just want to know whether this is the same case for others whose FO is Sacramento ? We are tired of waiting for so many months of nearly one year and are getting frustrated
Hi everyone, please did anyone overstay 6months outside the USA but less than a year go through the N400 interview yet?please share your experience.do I have to show.proof of what I traveled out for aswell ? I know I have to show proof of maintaining residency which is fine but I also wanna know if they need proof of why and what I overstayed for. Thank you in advance.

As I started this whole process right before Covid, I waited 2 years for the 10 GC , and almost 15 months for the n400 to schedule an interview but thank god it s all coming to end . This forum has helped me a lot and I hope this post can help people who are still waiting on the SF office have an idea on how long it took me.
Now i do have a final question to anybody who has gone through the interview process lately, as in the last month or so as I wanna know if they do same day oath like they used to at the beginning of the pandemic or do I have to wait for oath ceremony ?
Thank you guys a lot , wish me luck for the upcoming interview ;) I can keep you posted if anybody is interested .
. (and btw the estimate completion time online used say 3 months left , but now that I recieved the interview date, it went up to 15 months) smh
