Stuck on 'FP Appointment was scheduled' since 4 months
Hello All,
I wanted to share my experience thus far about this journey towards citizen “ship” ?…
Field office: Chicago, IL

My timeline…
Biometric done on Jan 6, 2016
Spouse received interview letter on April 19th.
My status still shows as ‘Appointment for FP scheduled’

Based on some of the other user’s comments (like ‘Silent ocean’ congratulations!), I don’t think background check is done on all N-400 applicants’.
Looking at some of the users who received their interview letter in less than a month; it’s highly unlikely that the back ground check for some is completed within a month and for some it takes forever.
Ideally if an applicant has clean background then all such applicants’ interview should get scheduled within the same time window (a month or two) but that’s not the case it looks like.
Applicants are randomly selected for the background and those who gets picked-up for the background check may land up waiting for ever.

Also the processing time is completely incorrect and there is no logical explanation why for some the interview was scheduled within 4 months of filling the application even though the current processing date for Chicago shows as July 2016, meaning its 10 months behind.
Being 10 months behind how some applications are moved up the queue?

N400 Processing Time
Dear all,

I'm from Columbus, Ohio. My N400 case was received at USCIS on November 10, 2016 and then scheduled for Fingerprints on November 22, 2016. Since then I did not hear anything back and the USCIS site still says “Fingerprint Appointment Was Scheduled."

I was working with the U.S. Army as local Interpreter/Translator in Afghanistan and then moved to the United States under Special Immigration Program in 2011. After moving to the States, I earned one degree and currently working on the second one, worked as Language Instructor and still working as full time employee for a company since last couple years. Never did anything bad and have clean record but my N400 case is about to hit 6th month of processing.

Due to my experience and knowledge, I was offered linguist job with U.S. Army in Afghanistan as green card holder two months ago but I had to turn it down because I was unable to expedite my N400 case through USCIS even after submitting the Expedite request few times.

The first time, the Expedite request directed me to the Field Office to present the required documents which I did but the Field Office could not do anything neither dealt with such things in the past, they said and were also surprised by seeing such letter. They recommended to call the USCIS again to see if they can do something from their end or have to wait until scheduled for the interview.
The second reason I turned the job down was because I didn't want to miss any step or delay my N400 while in Afghanistan because I worked for this so hard.

Any suggestion or advice is highly appreciated in this regard.

Very Sincerely,
Alokozai

Done with Oath - Sacramento, CA
Hi everyone. I've been reading this site for months now and it has helped me tremendously during my application. I promised myself I would sign up to this forum after my oath ceremony just so I can also share with you all my experience and hopefully provide assistance to anyone.

Here is my timeline:
October 12 - Received my application
November 9 - Biometrics
March 2 - Interview Scheduled
April 11 - Interview
April 26 - Oath Ceremony

So, I've been a US citizen for less than 24 hours! I'm glad the process was smooth and quick for my case. The immigration officer who interviewed me was very kind and friendly. I was VERY lucky to have him. He gave me my oath ceremony schedule the day of my interview itself once the computer said that I passed. For the questions regarding US history, just memorize everything in the book and you'll be good. Good luck to all! Believe me, I was so stressed out with the waiting game, but I got through it... so you will too :)

Downloadable notice for interview
Online status updated as "Interview Was Scheduled: On April 25, 2017, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization......We will mail you an interview notice" at the USCIS website. Any one knows how soon a downloadable notice in PDF will appear under the DHS website? Current notice there are still the notice of acceptance and notice for biometrics appointment.

Call from USCIS phone # 213-334-3502
Hello everyone, I called USCIS last week on Wednesday to ask about the status of my case, I asked to speak to a L2 officer so they transfer my call. The lines were busy, the automatic answer sujested to get a call back from them when the next officer was available. I left my number for them to call me back. I received a call on Saturday from phone number 213-334-3502, the person I spoke to asked me for my case number, after that she asked for me to identify my self, asked for date of birth and address. Is it normal for them to call on a Saturday? Has anyone received a call from them and recognize the phone number? I wonder if I was a victim of identity theft. Please help if you have any info. Thank you
