its an emergency.plz help
i have applied tourist visa for my parents through my husband as sponsor visa.i have already paid the fee, fixed an appointment for them by next week.regarding this i have 2 doubts

1.my husband changed his company and his h1b is under transfer, but we have the receipt for transfer.his new company is in another state which is different from the state where i applied the visa.

some references told me to create a new application with the old confirmation number and update the address.i did that and got new ds 160 confirmation page for both mom and dad.

2.after obtaining this 2nd confirmation page,i noticed that i made a mistake in my mom's page that i entered purpose of visit as business/personal(B1/B2),but for my dad i have mentioned as B2 tourism/medical treatment.

now my fear is that can i again fill new ds 160 for my mom with specific purpose,if so with which confirmation number i must proceed for filling new ds 160.also how many ds160 confirmation page she should take during interview.

will this affect the scheduled interview.am worried a lot.plz help.

VO: So why you want to go america ?
Me: to meet my uncle and for tourism !

VO: What are you doing ?
Me: I have my own business !

VO: Are you married ?
Me: Yes !

VO: Have you traveled outside of india before ?
Me: Yes to xyz.

Me: 20 days !

Then the golden words ( i am approving your visa )

got visa approved after getting denied once
I had appeared for B2 visa in Mumbai consulate and got rejected. I was told by many that it is not a good idea to reapply immediately since the result would be the same. I anyway went ahead and applied for B2 visa in Chennai Consulate. I had an appointment again just after 20 days of rejection.

Interview:

Me: Good Morning! (with a smile)
VO: Good Morning!

VO: May I have your passport
Me: sure

VO: what is the purpose of your visit?
Me: I will be going for tourism purpose and to visit my brother-in-law and sister. I'll be back after three weeks to resume office

VO:Where do you work?
Me: answered

VO:How long have you been working?
Me: 14 months.

VO:What is your annual salary?
Me: answered

VO: How will you be paying for the trip?
Me: My brother-in-law will sponsor the entire trip.

VO:Have you applied for visa before?
Me:Yes

VO: You were refused the visa?
Me:Yes

VO:Do you know the reason for refusal?
Me:No

VO: May I see you leave letter?
Me: (showed him the letter)

VO:Where do you parents stay?
Me: My parents are in India. They are living in YYYY city.

VO:Congrats! your visa has been approved.

its really important to analyse what went wrong in your previous interview. The questions are very common and all you need to do is answer in a way that they know you will be coming back. For e.g- I made sure to tell them i'll be back after three weeks.

Good Luck ;)

Got the visa stamped for mother and sister
Ok, I have to confess that I was really nervous after reading all the negative experiences in case of visa stamping of widowed mother and single young sister, but it turned out to be a good experience for us. VC was a nice and warm person and was talking in hindi to them. :-)

So, they attended the visa interview on 20th July at Delhi Embassy and successfully got it. My mother is a house maker and sister is doing graduation. Mother has rented out some commercial property which is main source of her income, and she has some bank balanc too. But VC never asked about any information regarding bank balance, they had all the supporting documents but were not asked to show any thing as such. below are the questions he asked:

To Mom,

1.Where do you want to go and for how long?

2. Who stays there?

3. What was the profession of your husband?

3.What do you do for earning?

To Sis,

1. What do you study?

2. Which year?

Your visa is approved!!!

US Non Immigrant B2 Visa
I had appeared for B2 Tourism Visa with my wife. The experience was not so good.

Location : Delhi

I had been reading immihelp since last month to get more and more and information. During this month I did collect all the major supporting documents. And made sure that I have enough balance in my account. I am 27 years old and got married just 10 months back. I was so excited as I had planned to go outside India with my wife to have some fruitful time. I am a business man and getting good money every month. I have my own IT business and have been running successfully for last 2 years.

It was nice weather on the day of interview. and I was fully confident with all the positive feelings.
Reached Embassy. Submitted phone there, went inside, there was checking point.
Waited for my batch turn. They took fingerprints once again and now it was turn to be interviewed.
It was a long queue, while I was standing in a queue I got chance to view the face of 7 chancellors, did not get chance to see others faces. There were almost 10-12 chancellors.

There were two Indian chancellors who were speaking in Hindi and sometime in Punjabi. All the others were foreigner. There was a Old lady with charming and smiling face, she was very pretty and happy b y nature. I noticed 2 people who were interviewed by her and believe me, chancellor and interviewee both were laughing loudly, it seemed to me as both of them were cracking jokes to each other. I was just praying I want to be interviewed by this lady. Now finally it was my turn, unfortunately that lady was interviewing someone else and I got some other chancellor, I didn't want to be interviewed by this chancellor as I didn't like him as he was looking like he is little bit angry.

Questions that he asked to me

ME : Good Morning
VO : Good Morning(replied, some chancellors never reply but he replied)

VO: May I have passport
Me : Yes, this is mine and this is my wife's.

VO : Why do you want to go to US?
ME : Just for Tourism.

VO : Where do you want to go?
ME : We want to New York, California, Washington dc, Niagara, I have not competed my plan yet, I am in touch with Thomas Cook, May be I add some more places.

VO : What do you do?
ME : I have my own business, we provide website, it and network support.

VO : Have you ever visited abroad?
ME : No.

VO : Do you know anyone is USA?
ME : No

VO: What do you do Mam (to my wife)?
My Wife: Pardon me!!

VO: He repeated what do you do?
My Wife : House maker.

VO : Do you have kids?
ME : I said No

He did type something on his computer for few seconds and then he said with his smiling face " sorry we cannot give you visa this time"

He returned my passport and gave me slip. I asked him why you can't he said read it.

I don't know what went wrong as that letter states that I don't have strong ties with my country. I have a good business and good earning, I earn more than 2 lakh in a month and did mention 2 lakh in DS 160,

Any expert there who can just tell me what wrong happened with my case?

I want to apply again and please suggest me when should I apply again?

B1/B2 combined - for visiting my Girl friend
All documents were self prepared!

I read through immihelp and all the posts that i could find on B1 and B2 visa. So i am posting back with the extract.

About Me:> I am 25 years old, male and salaried. I am very smart but a introvert. Had an interview only once in my life, that too 4 years back, and interviews scare me out. So definitely I was a bit SCARED of the interview. This is how i got over my fears. Also read about the insane steps i took to prepare for it.

I find that after 6 days of scouring the internet, this is the extract and summary of all the things that is needed to get a B1/B2 combined visa. I am posting this here as i did not find any other post for a combined Visa. It was either B1 or B2, but not both.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Place:> New Delhi Embassy, 10 AM, the 17th of August 2015

Initial Procedure:> Simple, wait across the road to the embassy entrance. They will ask you to queue up for the 10 AM queue (for e.g.).

At the entrance: They check the passport barcode on the back. They stick this on the back of the passport after the bio-metrics. So dont rip it off :)

Inside: Normal checking, and xray. Next they ask you to sit on benches in the waiting area till your turn comes. They send in people in batches.

Biometrics: Next, they check your finger prints at the biometrics window. Then you will be asked to stand in the queue for the interview.

Interview: This is the money task ;). All that you prepared for, isn't it ?! Haha. So i stood in the line thinking of my horrible nightmares about as strict, stern and unrelenting visa interview and the feeling of dread. I wished for the kindest VO in the room. So, standing there, I tried to gauge the VOs from their expressions and responses.
I saw a lady whose smile was positively radiant. She was kind. She had glasses and the glare from them was adding to her radiance. Before I could do more wishing, I was heralded by someone to stand in front of a counter. Searching for counter number, i thanked my stars because it was the same lady in my counter window. She looked at the awkward stacks of folders on my arm and called me to the window.

VO: Hi there!
Me: Hello!

VO: Can i have your passport? :)
Me: Sure. <I gave to her>

VO: So why are you travelling?
Me: I am going there to visit my girlfriend during the December vacations.

VO: Ooo! :) Where does she live?
Me: In xxxx, Florida.

VO: What does she do?
Me: She is a software professional, a Computer Network Architect, working for Tata Consultancy Services.

VO: okay, who is her client. <Trick question, to see if i really know her>
Me: For PriceWaterhouse Coopers.

VO: <Satisfied> Okay, what do you do ?
Me: I am a software professional at Deloitte Consulting India Pvt Ltd, at Gurgaon. I work with SAP products in business planning.
< In the middle of this the lights went off, and I had to be louder to get my voice through the gap in the window.

VO: So you both would be travelling around ?
Me: <I saw she was smiling and not looking at me this time around, and I from her expressions I understood that this was more of an informal question :) >
umm.. We haven't planned yet, may be in an around Florida and New York if it does not snow there. :)

< Suddenly, she sweeps my passport into a side tray and says something... >
<I was still looking at my passport wondering whether I have to go through additional interviews..?! >
Me: Sorry?
VO: Your Visa is approved! Have a nice vacation and enjoy! :)

I said thanks to her, asked when I would get my (prized) passport back and left through the exit a bit amazed that IT was over, it got approved and feeling of happiness.. in that order :D. Wanted to jump with joy ;), but thought - You are an ADULT! Do it, outside! :) :D

Now, the summary list of documents i promised for tourist visa. Plus insane tips. So ....

---------------------------------
       DOCUMENTS
---------------------------------

General:
1. Passport
2. DS-160 confirmation page
3. Interview Appointment page

Hers
4. Invitation letter [original]
5. I-134 [original]
6. I- 94
7. I-797b (this is the petition of visa , my case her H1b petition)
8. Employment letter - her letter of deputation .
9. 6 months of payslips
10. 6 months of bank statements
11. Passport copy with visa page and page with stamps ( in color)

Mine
12. Photo : white back ground 2x2 inches.
13. Employment letter - my letter of leave/ cum no objection certificate from employer.
14. 6 months of payslips
15. 6 months of bank statements.
16. 3 years of IT returns
17. Latest increment letter
18. Graduation marksheets
19. College degree
20. Resume
21. Business Card

22. 3 photos of me and her ( color prints )
24. 3 Photos of me and my family. ( color prints )

Kept my Aadhar card, pan card and motorcyle RC book as well, for good measure. Couldn't hurt. Right? :)

This is literally DOCUMENT OVERKILL !! I got all the documents that people wrote about in every post in read online. Every single one! They said it and i got it !

A bit insane right :) But then it was me who wanted the Visa, and THEY could simply say - NO. hehe. Hence the document overkill .

Moreover, i took... :::::>

-----------------------------------------
      Additional Measures ...
-----------------------------------------

1. I dressed neatly, in the newest and best shirt and jeans i had. Looks count. The VO is a human being after all. So better to look the part that says : I got the money to travel ! And I think that paid off.

2. Prepare (Part I ) for an interrogation : I am 25 years, donot live with my parents, own nothing as property, except my bike, which might not even count. So seriously, i got backup proofs for my backup proofs so that even if they ask questions in an interrogation style, i gotta the proof baby!! Proof for bank balance; employment; that i will come back as i got a job; family; relation with her; that 'I' am me :)

3. Prepare (Part II ) for an interrogation : I was a bit stressed on the day before the interview. So i tried to prepare by my self. Asked myself the questions a VO might ask. Then I called up my younger and smart (if not smarter ) brother :) , told him that i am going for the interview. He started asking me questions, all sorts of insane- but smart - questions, and i answered them, keeping in mind the proofs I had. I did stumble on one or two questions but now I new my weaknesses. So after 20 minutes of brother generated stress, i relaxed. I knew that if i can handle these kind of questioning from my brother, I can handle a VO as they would not go to such crazy lengths that my brother just did . :D

Moral of the story -: Get someone smart to "interrogate" you and back it up with proofs.

Insane, but it will prepare you. At the interview, while i was standing in the queue, i saw a grandma questioned at length and depth on her application.I went in after about 4 minutes when her questioning started, and after 3-4 minutes of my own interview, she was still there, being questioned. So the stories are TRUE, that u might get grilled. So beware and prepare.

Now i am a happy person with a 10 year visa on my Passport. :) :)
So, prepare well and relax. The more confident u are, less the VO will question you. (oh, u need to tell the truth ;) ). If you lie, you .....

At the end, it feels easy!! Go get Your Visa . Best of luck!
