Attending for a B2 visa
Hi,

I am on H1B in USA and married with kids. I am inviting my parents who are in sixties to USA. My father was a retired employee from government service. When we applied for passport because of some name issues in my father certificates we did not mention that my father was employed before. We mentioned that my father was not educated.

I dont see anysuch thing mentioned in passport about my father's education. When I fill DS-160 should I maintain the same thing or should I give the actual details. I would like to give the correct details in DS-160 so that they feel comfortable when they talk to the visa officer. But my concern is if there is anything in passport that conflicts the information with DS-160 and creates problem for issuing visa. Can somebody suggest me something.

Thanks

Parents B2 Visa got Rejected
My Parents applied for their B2 visa in Oct 2011.

At that time the situation was as follows,
> I was on OPT
> My dad was retired and mom was working
> They have never travelled out side India
> I am the only Son.
> My dad had property worth 2 crore rupies and a house
> They sponsored them selves

Interview went like this (it was in Marathi),
VO: Good Morning!
Parents: Good morning!
VO: Why are you going to US?
Dad: For tourism purposes and visit my son
VO: What does your son do?
Dad: He is working as a Soft. Engg. in XYZ Company.
VO: How many children?
Dad: One.
VO: Have you travelled out side india before?
Dad: No
VO: Sorry we can not issue you visa at this time. reason 214(b)

So we are trying to apply again and their interview is on Dec 2, 2014,

Here is the current situation,

> I am on H1b
> I am married and my wife is here with me on H4
> Both my parents are retired now
> My dad travelled to Dubai last year
> I am sponsoring them
> Bank balanced for both of them are much more than before
> My dad has property worth 2 crore rupies and a house

Can anyone suggest me how to prepare them for the interview and is the current situation better than before?

unmarried/ 23years old. visa issued! :D
so here is my experience for the visitor visa.

I started clueless about the whole process of applying for a visa and everyone around me said that its impossible for an unmarried, 23 year old female to get a visa.

but i wanted to try my luck and i couldnt believe how easy it got after the initial confusion.

Visa Interview:

Appointment time: 10:30

status: issued

so i reached the New Delhi embassy as 9:40 and as this was my first time, i was pretty tensed seeing so many people hoarding around. But somehow i kept my calm . we were called to join the line at 10:40 to enter the embassy for security check and then to the waiting area where it took another hour to reach the interview line.

so around 12:30. i was called on the window number 10. a very sweet looking man, in his late 20's was there and asked me a few basic questions. i was nervous but could answer everything very precisely.

Q:What is the purpose of your visit?
Answer : Attending a series of events conducted by Harvard innovation lab and mit

Q: So, your father is paying for your trip? ( he constantly was typing something and looking at the computer screen)

answer: yes

Q: Is he the proprietor ?
A : Yes

Q : What are you studying ?
A: design at *Very reputed design school in india*

Q: oh! so why did you come all the way to delhi to give your interview?
A: My residence is delhi and as this is my semester break, i am planning to go for the events.

Q : Have you travelled abroad?
A: Yes

Q: where?
A: south korea

Q: purpose?
A: attending a design event

officer: here you go ( passed me two cards for education usa)
             *YOUR VISA IS APPROVED*

I Thanked him and gave him the brightest smile. wished him a good day!!

No documents checked, no duration asked.

but please note: i had a fixed itinerary and all my bookings were done.

Honestly. I dont think its not about your age but confidence!!!

wishing all the best to all the people applying for a visa!! especially single, unmarried. you can do it just with the confidence and transparency in your application and interview.

and like how USA visa lcd was displayng inside the embassy . TELL, DONT SHOW
verbal interview is essential. i finished completing my papers in only one week!

I received a petition from my brother and my cousin in USA.I am going to apply for Visa to visit my brother in USA and attend my cousin wedding. I work as a manager in a famous resort in Burghada and I have a company for tourist. I have one house under my name and another house under my wife house. I am going to apply for visa for myself only because my kids are in school and my wife cannot come with me. Is it possible to get a visa or not. Also, I don;t have that much money in my bank because I put all my money on my business. Is that a negative point or not? Please help as soon as possible.

Me: <Gave the passport>

VO: What is the purpose of your visit?
Me: <Started explain but half way was stopped by the VO>

VO: What is the name of your team?
Me: <told the name>

Hello everyone,
Me ,my father and my mother, three of us went for USA B2 visa in 2007 (my father wanted to visit a friend in US,without sponsor,i was 13 years old at that time),we got rejected under section 214(b).
Now my Real elder Brother studies in USA, he's a Major Engineering student, he's graduating on Dec 19,2014, yesterday only both of my parents visited for USA visa to visit my brother on his graduation ceremony and both of them got approved.
I didn't go with them because i thought they will reject all of us like last time, but after they got visa yesterday, now i want to apply too for the visa.
I'M a junior year (3rd year) engineering student.
what points should i remember and what type of profile should i have to make my case stronger and what can i answer for a question if they ask me"why didn't you come with your parents for visa ". etc.
Please provide me with tips to make my profile better and my case stronger so i can visit my brother after my exams end in first week of December and come back before my next semester starts in first week of January.c
