Interview insults
Hi, going through the experiences of some, i would like to narrate some of my experiences at US consulate, Chennai. I was standing in line at the interview counter for my H1b stamping. The line next to mine had a young american officer wearing glasses who was very rude to almost every one in his line mostly middle aged people. He was shouting and throwing the papers back at these helpless people. The visa officer from another counter came to him calling him some thing like Judsun or Jaysun "what happened". this officer shouted saying " i have a F__K__G Indian priest at my counter" this shocked us all who were standing in the line. This is disgusting behaviour from the so called 1st world citizens ( with third class mentality).

Parent got VISA
Thanks immihelp for useful information. My parent got visa today at Delhi Consulate.

Here are the question which they asked.

1) Where your son is living in US?
2) In which company he is working?
3) Is he married?

That's all. VO did not ask any other question. They said your VISA has been granted.

10 yr visa granted on 3rd attempt
My Motherinlaw was approved a 10 year visa on her 3rd attempt at Chennai consulate. She is a widow and nonpensioner and was rejected the prior 2 times probably for that reason. She was never asked for her documents all these 3 times.
This attempt we tried differently by requesting the local congressmen to send out a letter to the consulate which (looks like) might have helped.

She was asked usual set of questions like why is she making her trip, for how long, what ties she has in India, and just family background.

Last but not the least, I need to thank this website. The idea of getting a letter from Congressmen was from this site and I believe that has really helped. Thanks again.

Successful visitor visa at chennai
My parents attended the visitor visa interview at chennai on May 24th, 2007.
They choose the kannada language. The line for the Kannada interview was smaller than line for English interview. So my parents finished the interview in 45mns. My dad is employeed and mom is a retired home maker.
All the children are in US.
I had meticulously prepared all documents(mentioned on immihelp) and sent it to them. They had nicely arranged them in folder.

Only basic questions were asked, like when is my dad retiring. When did your children visit India last time. What do they do in US. The VO flipped through my documents and granted the visa. They got the 10yrs multiple entry visa.

There was a old lady before my parents who was having an interview in Kannada. She said she owned land ,did some farming and was not answering the questions well. The VO asked what
do you cultivate in the farm? And she would start talking about her son sending her money, her grand children etc..Inspite af all that , the VO granted her the visa. I guess luck plays a part too.

Hope this helps everyone. I thank immihelp and all the people who post their exp here. Its been very helpful.
