Mother got visa for 10 years from chennai consulate in first attempt
First of all i want to thank immihelp for providing such a good information for preparing the visa interview.I have prepared the documentation as per the guidelines given in this website.

Before my mother there are 6 other visitor visa people are standing and the telugu translator is helping the visa counslor in trsalting the language. My mother told me that for 6 of them they issued the visa without asking a single document.

My Mother interview went as below:
VO - Good Morning
Mother - Namasthe(With smile)
VO - How many sons do you have by lookinto DS 156 & 157 Forms
Mother - 3Sons (2 of them in US 1 is in India)
VO - Where do they live in US
Mother - ZZZ
VO - What is your husband will do?
Mother - Business
Vo - What is your annual income?
Mother - ZZZ

Then translator told my mother that she got the visa and she can go now.

They have'nt looked at single document, which i have sent from here and my mother documents.

The strange thing is that she got the Visa stamped passport in the next days itself.Normally it use to take 2-3 days.I think they are quicken the things alot.

Sunil.

Parents got 10 years visitors visas at the first attempt
My Background: H1B, and arrrived in USA in Dec. 2005.
Parents backgorund: Pure gujarati farmer father and mother is housewife and they can not speak even a single english word. Both are around 50 years age and have been appearing for very first time in any kind of interview. (Taken interview in Gujarati).

I have prepared all documents as per the guide lines given in this web site. (It is great and helped me a lot).

Before visa interview I have asked just some basic questions to my parents on phone in Gujarati.

On the Day of Visas
- They arrived to the US Consulate, Mumbai in time.
- They were very nervous as being appeared very first in any kind of interview.

Here is that small interview;
VO - Good Morning
Parents - Namaste
VO (To My Mother)- What is your birth day ?
My Mother - Answered correctly
VO (To My Mother) - Where your son is living in USA ?
My Mother - Replied Jefferson City, MO
VO (To My Mother) - Do you have three children living in USA and one in India ?
My Mother - No No, I have one child in USA (Me) and three here.
VO - Asked the same question again
My Mother - Replied correctly
VO - Ok I am grating your visas, your passports will be returned to your address in two or three days.

They left but my father have not gte what that lady told them, so he asked my mother to go back to that window and ask her that what happened ?

She calmly explain that don't worry you have got the visas and your passports will be send through courier in next couple of days.

They have not looked any documents, which I have sent from here nor the ones they have prepared.

Just three basic questions and said ok.

Normal Indian out fits used by both. nothing special.

Hurrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

On a background, I am the only Son and having one sister who is married. My mother is working in Govt. School. She stays alone at my native and dont have any property on her name.
Following questions were asked this time:( HIndi interview)
1. Why you want to go US ?
--> To visit various places like Philly,NY,Boston and to visit my son's family.
2. Then i think there was some confusion...so VO asked why you want to go Boston ?
--> Boston i want to go just for tourism.
3. Where is ur son staying ?
--> At .... place. It makes good impression if they say the exact name with state.
4. What do you do ?
--> Working in a Govt School from last 24 yrs and still having 8 years of service left.
5. With whom you stay in India ?
--> I stay with my daughter and her two childerns. Also we have a joint family consisting of my husband's elder brother's family. For a proof she had some photos with her..but they havent asked for that.

They have not checked any other documents also.

Got 10 years B1/B2 visa-second time
Dear Sir,
I am really thankfull to immihelp in getting my renewal visa for 10 years. My earlier 2 years visitor visa was expiring in January,2007. I appeared for interview and visa was denied on the ground that I have overstayed in USA. In fact I never overstayed US. Then I consulted immihelp and found such type of problem where it was advised that applicant must keep with him/her boarding passes so that dates of leaving India and return to India is proved with boarding document. I acted on the advise of immihelp and produced boarding passes in second interiew and was glad to get 10 years extension visa. Consulate officer niether asked any question nor seen any document except boarding passes. Hats off to immihelp
with kind regards

Mom got 10 years visa
My mom got 10 years visitor's visa on 15/2/07. Thanks to immihelp and everyone else who posted their experiences and provided us with all the valuable information. We had taken a Tamil appointment for my mom at the Chennai consulate. She had to attend the interview alone because my dad already has his 10 years visa.

We prepared all the documents as per this website. The lady officer was very kind but was in a hurry to ask questions as there were so many people waiting in the queue that day. Also, the officer herself spoke in Tamil and there was no translator. These were the questions asked:

First of all, my mom greeted the officer.

1)How many children do you have?
2)What is your younger daughter (me) doing?
3)What is your son-in-law (my husband) doing?
4)Why are you applying alone? Why not with your husband?
5)What is your husband doing and what is his position in the company?
6)Show me your hushand's passport copy?

She took the passport number, entered it in the system and checked for some details. She then told my mom that she would grant her visa and she will get her passport in 2 days.

The officer did not check any other documents that we sent. I greatly appreciate immihelp for this wonderful website.

Visitors visa
Hello,

I am an Indian resident in Oman for last 3years I did go thru the visitor’s visa experience today.19/02

first please remember to fill 156 and 157! I have seen all of them who were in front of me and after me filling it (157) there which in turn took more time for them at the submission counter.
in Muscat US consulate there no waiting time you fill your application at the counter pay your fees then wait for your name to be called, you can see the entire process in front of you thru the glass window only at the time of interview you will be inside a glass enclosure so that others cant hear what you being asked, and the officer didn’t really go for the supporting docs though I had an invitation letter and my bank statements etc.

After greetings,

Finger scan request,

Consular: why you want to go to US?
Me: to visit friends.

Consular: how long have you been in Oman?
Me: 3years

looked at the letter head of my company and complimented the quality of the letter head! :-)

me Thank you!

Consular: how long have you been working for this company?
Me: 3years

Consular: where is the location?
Me: xxx place (and placed my business card in the tray.)

Consular: fine you’ve been granted a 2 years multiple entry visa you can collect your visa in person on 21st at 10 am.

Me: thank you

Consular: any questions?
Me: thank you have a good day sir.

So simple but thanks to immihelp.com I was well prepared with all supporting documents but I could see that they don’t go thru your docs!

In short prepare well be confident and smiling, dress proper at least wear a tie.

My dads visa got rejected
My dad had been to consulate for visa this month. We were planning to bring him only for three months. We have a green card.

Here are his experience at the consulate:-

father:good morning
VO:good morning
VO:what are you doing right now?
my father:I am retired
VO:again asked the same question
My father:replied the same thing
VO:rejected the visa.

I think my father was also little nervous. Visa officer gave 214(B) and sent him back. Now in tension my father lost that rejected form in which it was return 214(B. Is it necessary to take that form for the second time or can they track about his rejection in computer. Please some one let me know. Next week I am visiting India and I am planning to take my father to madras.

From this site I got lot of informations. I will prepare my father for next interview. Please some one let me know what to do.

thanks
