My Parents got 10 years Multiple Entry Visitor Visa - Chennai
First of all, I would like to thank Immihelp for providing detailed process guidlines for Visitor Visa. My parents attended interview in Chennai consulate with all Visitor and Sponsor documents. But since they read all the instructions and documents, they attended very confidently.

The following are the questions:
Parents: Good Morning Ma'am! How are you doing today?
VO: I am fine. Thank you, How about you?
Parents: We are fine. Thank you.
VO: where are you working?
Parents: I am retired A/c officers from Railways
VO: what is your pension amount?
Parent: Rs../Per Month
VO: How many children do you have?
Parent: I have 3 children. 2 daughter with my grandchildren in Chennai and 1 Son in USA.
VO: Do you have any property in India?
Parents: Yes Ma'am. I have a house worth 20 Lakhs in Chennai.
VO: Ok. Good! You will get your visa stamped in passport within 3-5 business days thru courier.
Parents: Thank you very much Ma'am
VO: U are welcome.
Parents: Do you want to persue with these documents?
VO: No Not at all.(Smiling face)

My piece of worth information is, whenever you send your parents to interview, guide them properly. Ask them more questions, gives some tips by asking how to react to a situational questions. Provide current documents with detailed covering letter and checklist to understand them.

Wishing everyone best of luck..

Hi,
My parents today had a very bad experience with the US consulate in Chennai.
The Officer asked couple of questions to which My dad answered to all the questions correctly. But at the very end they asked my father to give my husbands salary certificate and My dad delayed in searching the document among the stack of all other papers, but by then the officer was impatient and asked them to apply again.

Please pass me comments if you had similar experience so that I can make my parents prepare for the next round.

I have heard that in most cases, they don't even ask for the documents and did they ask my Dad b'cos we have Green card. please anyone share your experience.

Thanks

Got 5 yrs visa for self, wife and son
My wife and I appeared for interview at Abu Dhabi embassy on 11 feb 2007.

Visa officer took our finger prints and asked my wife to go back to waiting area and started taking my interview. Just to mention that I have already been to US in 2002 and to UK in 2006 (both time for 1 month). My wife and son did not get visa when I applied for them in 2001 alongwith me.

VO asked me about my work place, my total stay in UAE, the company name that I work for, my designation, my monthly take home salary and time of intended travel. The only document that he asked me was the bank statement. The balance was not huge and I told him that I do not keep my balance in current account. I invest them in fixed deposits, shares in Pakistan.

He asked me to pay additional fee to take finger prints of all ten fingers.

He told me that he was keeping my case open and that I would receive my passoport either with or without visa in few days. Today we got with visas stamped on them.

Good luck to all of you

Father got visa
Today my father got visa for on his first interview. Usually the Consulate General will not come an address the people who are attending the interview, but today the Consulate General addressed the people attending the interview. He said that today is one of the most busiest days in last five years. Anyway my Dad got his Visitor visa. He was so prepared with the documentation and is well-dressed.

Dad: Good Morning Sir.
VO: Good Morning!

Submitted all the paperwork that my Dad has.

VO:What is your daughter doing in US?
Dad: She is working as YYYY in YYYY on H1 Visa

VO: DO you have only one daughter?
Dad: No sir, I have three children. The eldest one is in US. The other two are still studying and unmarried.

VO: OK. You can go and get your visa.
Dad: Thankyou sir. You have a nice day.

I was nervous to hear from my dad after the interview. But I am happy to hear that good news.
Thanks to immihelp and its information. Good Luck for readers.

Parents got visa
Hi All

First let me thank this website which gave us so much information so that we could prepare our parents to get their visas.

They were rejected the first time when they attended the interview. This time, on 12th of Feb 2007 they went for the second time and they got their visa for 10 years.

I have a friend who works for the consulate general in chennai and she said that the old team who was there in the consulate has been replaced by a new team who are very kind and generous. She even mentioned that in the previous team one particular lady was very specific in rejecting and hence her name was "Rejection lady". So friends who have applied for their parents/in-laws visas in chennai and got rejected earlier can try now because the new team is so good and there are better chances than any time before.

Best of luck

Rgds

Parents Visa Approved
My parents had their interview yesterday 02/07.
Since they do not speak English I had booked the appointment in Kannada. They had some issues with the photo on D-156 form. They had to come out and get a new photo taken in a studio nearby (of course they charged Rs 400.00 for 2 pictures). Once these issues were sorted out, they had the interview done which as per my father was very smooth. Following questions were asked.

1. How many children do you have ?
   I have 5 children.

2. Who is in US ?
My eldest son lives in US.

3. What does he do ?
He works as xxxxx in xxxxxx company in New York.

4. How long you intend to stay in US ?
   2-3 months.

5. Then why did you write 6 months in your application form ?
I might stay a little longer. But I'm not sure right now.

6 .All right. You will receive your passports in the mail.
We haven't yet received the passport, so I'm not sure if they got 10 year multiple entry.

No questions were asked to my mother (who was very nervous about the interview).
My brother had painstakingly prepared lot of supporting documents, but the visa office didn't ask for any of them.
I had coached my parents with some of the questions I had gone thru with this website. This site really helped me to prepare the proper documents and help my parents to answer the questions.
Thank you immihelp. Wishing good luck to everyone who is eagerly awaiting the visa of their loved one.

Hi All,,,
My parents had their visa interview on the 6'th feb '2007 at the chennai consulate..It was definitely not a cake walk but fortunately they got 10 yrs multiple entry visa...all the sponsor's documents was checked thoroughly....The key thing I wanted to share with you all is,,my dad had put the intended period of stay in DS-156 as 2 months and the officer told them that he would grant them 10 years visa now,,,but next time he would not and also added that had anybody else been in his place,,they would have given a short term visa..so folks it is better to put 4 months in that column just to avoid any problems in the duration of visa....nevertheless you can be confident as long as you provide genuine documents...Good Luck guys!!!!!!!!
