My parents got their visa at chennai on dec 7th. This is their 2nd time. 1st time they were rejected.
My father was asked:
Whey were u retired?
How much pension do u get?
What do u do now?
As we are on EAD(employment authorisation), the consular asked my father what does EAD mean?

That is it.
They were asked to submit the passport.
We r still waiting for the passport to see how many years they were alloted.

Thanks immi help.

We got Visitors' VISA for 10Yrs
I am a retired employee doing some engineering consultancy. I went along with my wife for VISA interview on 7th Dec at Chennai and got 10Yr. VISA. Thanks for everybody in this Website for contributing their experiences and giving advices and helping others. We followed some advices given especially trying to avoid going to the burkha clad woman though we were forced by the guides there to stand before her. These local guides were not allowing us settle in the hall but were asking us to stand before a particular counter. As per the advice received from this site earlier, we observed for a while for a friendly VO and stood before him. Also we followed another useful tip from this site i.e., putting important documents like I-134, Sponsor's letter and employment certificate and also status certificate in the folder given by the earlier counter, though they asked us not to put any other doc in the file. This has helped to gain initial impression as the VO read thoroughly the letter from the sponsor. He asked the following questions:
1.So your Son is in YYYY XX state and you want to see him
Ans.Yes please, basically we want to go for tourism
2. How many children you have?
Ans: One daughter in India and 2 sons in US
3. Are you retired?
Ans: Yes, but doing some consultancy
4. Is it engineering consultancy?
 Ans: Yes.
V.O: Okay, could I have your finger prints please?
Afterwards VO said that the PPs will be received by us in a couple of days.
He hasn't asked for any other papers. We received 10 Yr VISA on the third day. Thanks again for every one for their help in disseminating valuable
information through this site.

Father got visitor visa in fourth attempt
My father got visitor visa in the fourth attempt at Chennai consulate. My mom has a visa. The VO was very nice and smiling.

Here are the questions asked.
1. Why are you going to US?
2. Do you have any sons? No.
3. Do you have only one daughter? Yes.
4. What is she doing?
5. Does she have any kids?
6. Show me her tax returns.
6. Show me your son-in-law's employer letter.
7. Is your wife travelling with you? Yes.

I am very thankful to this site and everyone who wrote their experiences as it helped me a lot in preparing for the interview.

For those of you whose parents were rejected a visa, dont get disheartened. Keep trying and prepare your parents well. I know it is very painful if parents' visa gets rejected. But dont lose hope.

I wish everyone All the Best.

Thanks to immihelp.com and all contributors
I would like to thank immihelp.com and all it's contributors. My parents got 10 year multiple entry visitor visa from Chennai consulate. I had sent them the documents as given in the visitor visa documents requirement on this site.

The VO only checked my Dad's pension paper. He did not see any other document. At the end of the interview, the VO officer found that the scanning machine was not able to properly read the photograph on the application. He asked them to get new photos and come back the same day. My parents got them in half an hour from a nearby photo studio.

Here are some of the major interview questions based on the recollection of my parents. It's possible they may have missed some of them and the order may not be same. I also do not know to whom it was addressed (i.e. Dad or Mom).

1) What company does your son work for?
2) What does he do?
3) What is your age ? (to Dad)
4) When did you retire? (to Dad)
5) Can I see your pension documents? (to Dad)
6) What is your son's DOB?
7) Do you any other children ?
8) Where does your second child reside and is he married?

Thanks again.
Raj
