My mother (widow) got 10 years visa
Hi,

My mother attended visa interview on 8/30/2006 and got 10 years visa in her first attempt.

Interview officer asked questions
1.) How many children you have ?
2.) Who lives in US and India ?
3.) What does your daughter do ?
4.) What is your annual income ?

VO thourougly checked my (sponsor) papers and asked to pay the fees saying they are giving 6 months Visa. However when we checked passport she got 10 years Visa.

Thank GOD ...

Miracles do happen

Visitor visa approved on second attempt
My parents went for Visitor visa today 8/28/2006 and that are approved!!!. They had been rejected in DEC 2001 and I was kinda worried about what will happen this time. The CO had asked them

1. How many children -Its just me
2. Since How long your son is in US. -8 years
3. When are you planning to visit and for how long? -In April for 3 months
4. Can I see the documents sent by your son? He just turned the pages and returned them back.
5. Visa status of your son. -Green Card.

That's it.. He asked them to go pay the fees and told them they are going to grant them visa.
Since I started working for my own company since last 3 months I was worried about it. But they did't ask a thing.

This site helped me verymuch in preparing the documents and preparing my parents. Thanks you all for sharing the information.
My dad mentioned they where issuing the visa for almost everyone in front on them. So good luck for the guys who are waiting.

hi friends...my father went for visitor visa 3 times before..all the times he got rejected as potential immigrant..finally we tried 4th time and he got 10 yr multiple visa..this time the consular didnt ask him much questions just where is ur daughter, when did she come to USA..whats ur son in law profession and other normal questions...as my father went with telugu translator..he could answer them very well...finally the consular asked him to pay fees..after coming back my father said he was just cool this this time..and answered with confidence..i just want to share with you guys this..because i almost lost hope after 3rd attempt..but my father's stubbornness and my husband patience made it possible now..
just guys dont lose hope..try again and again...sure u will succeed in getting visa ..as we know there is no particular norms for getting visa..

Enquiry on F1 Visa Application
Hi All,

I have attended the F1 interview on 21 July. My application was denied under 214(B) Category. The lady in Burkha took my interview and there was certain flaw in my documents which has been noticed by her and i have put down truth infront of him. She advised me that if i want to get visa next time, i have to avoid that. I want to re-apply with correct documents, Can someone suggest me what are my chances after all this.

I will be very grateful for each and everyone who would be in position to help me out.

Thanks and Regards
Khurram Mahmood

Brother got 10 yr visitor visa Mumbai consulate
My brother appeared for visa interview on 8th Aug. Appt was for 11am but his interview finally happened at 4pm. It was raining a lot and half the consular windows were closed.

Person in front of him in the queue got argumentative with the consular officer and it heated up so much that the consular officer called security to take him away. My brother was sure that his visa will now be rejected. He decided to act composed and answer the questions.

Consular lady asked him:
Q. Who is sponsoring your visa?
A. My brother-in-law
Q. Where does he work?
A. xx company
Q. Where does your sister work?
A. xx company
Q. I see that you work for xxx BPO company. What is your role?
A. xx
Q. What does that involve?
A. xx
Q. So, this is basically offshoring, am I correct?

At this point, my brother was confused as to how to handle this. He decided to proceed with:

A. Yes Ma'am, you are absolutely correct.
Q. Congratulations, you have been granted the visa, enjoy your stay.

They didn't ask him "for how long do you intend to travel". He got a 10yr multiple entry visa :-) We are so happy!

Things that helped:
- this website and the list of documents.
- preparation and mock interviews: I made sure my brother was familiar with each and every document I sent him. We had ~3 mock phone interviews. This helps a lot in preparing and building confidence.

Visitor Visa Rejected 2nd time
Parents attented 2nd time interview @chennai consulate and got rejected.

Following questions asked

Why you are going?
How many children you have?
What r u doing?
Do u have any property in India?

To Mother
What r u doing?
Show your pension book?
VO looked at all the documents and gave 214(b) paper to them.

Frustrating after parents answered all the questions right and VO looked at all the documents rejected the visa.

I think there should be transparency on issuing the visa.

My parents got visa at Chennai
My Parents Got visitors visa @ Chennai. On Aug 4th 2006.
They got 10 Year Multiple entry.

They went 15 minutes before the interview time. They said VFS
folks were very helpful at the enterance. It looks like the biometrics
data (finger prints) are taken before the interview.

Here is how it was unfolded at the interview (as told by my Mom).

VO : <smile> Namaskar.
Dad : Namaskar (and handed the folder with DS-156/157).
VO : Where are you going and who is there ?
Mom : "SF , To see our elder son. He is working in <company name> there".
VO : Ah.. I know that company. When did he come to India last time ?
Dad : "Feb 2006"
VO : Who is living with you ?
Dad : "My second son and my father".
VO : Congrats.. visa granted.
Please pay the fee and your pp will come home thru courier.
Mom and Dad : Thank you.

Total time at the consulate: 40 minutes.

VO did not even ask/look at ANY paperwork I sent (not even I-134).
That was surprising to me. They got the pp in 4 working days thru courier.
Overall they felt the experience was very good.
