Parents visa rejected.. need some advice
my parents appointment was for 2nd May in Mumbai. it got rejected because of insufficient funds in their account. my parents were buying their tickets while we take care of their expenses in the US. Obviously a mistake on our part. we should have sponsored it. They were very rude to my parents.

My father retired from private services and doesnt have any property. He and my mom have savings of about 10 lakhs in their accounts. We have had a poor start in life and have kind of made it on our own and proud of that and the education that our parents ensured we had. They live in India with my elder brother.

the question now is - when should i apply again and how to do it right. Anybody... somebody.. please advice. I had my baby here last august and my parents have not seen her till now.

Parents got tourist visa
Hi

I want to thank this website and all the feedback recd from this site.

My parents had an Visa interview schedule for today at the Mumbai consulate.

They just asked these questions to my Dad,
Why are you going?
Who is there is US?
What is he doing?
Who is there in India?
What are you doing?

They didn't ask for any papers, and the CC greated as "Congratulations, you are granted US Visa, have a very good trip"

Also they didn't ask any questions to my Mom.

Thats it and all done.

Again thanks to all the inputs I recd from this site.

Regards,
Amar Shah

Parents and in-laws both got 10 yr visa in Chennai
All,
Thanks for all your valuable postings. This site is so helpful to me for preparing the paper work, interview questions etc.
My parents had interview on Apr-19th and these are the questions they asked.
Q. How many children ?
A. Two sons, 1st one in India, 2nd one in USA
Q. When did he goto US?
A. Aug 98
Q. What company he work for?
A. My dad said the company name and he gave the emp letter from my company. He looked at it for few secs
Q. what you do for living?
A. Agriculture. Here, VO looked at Bank statement of my dad and asked my father to go and pay the visa fees. That's it. He was not interested in any other docs I sent. They said he didnt even look into my W-2, Pay stubs etc

On May-9th, my in-laws went for interview, and this time it was much easier.
Q. How many children?
A. One daughter in USA and one Son studying in India.
Q. How long he has to study?
A. Until 2008, and my FIL gave the student-id copy if his son for him to look.
Q. What you do for living?
A. Agriculture.
Ok, you got visa. Go and pay the fees.
When my FIL said they got visa approved, I thought they may get only for 1-2 yrs, but to our surprise they also got 10 yr visa. (My FIL collected the passport from Chennai consulate next day.)

Delhi Consulate - First Attempt - Mother & Sister got Visa
Hi

My mother and sister got their visa approved in first attempt in Delhi Consulate. My dad had his visa from before. The following were the questions:

1. Who is paying for your trip?
2. How long are you going for?
3. What does your son/brother do their?
4. Where does he live?
5. Where did he study?

The officer smiled on the answers and took the draft.

Thanks to website and experiences, I learnt a lot on how to get things ready for the visa.

How foolish that people blame on "burkha clad lady".
My parents got their visit visa few days back.
My in-laws(mother&father) got their visas(approved) too from chennai just 2 days back, but my sister & brother in-law's visa was rejected (both were minors) by the lady in burkha.
She just looked at the computer (went thru rules based on data & questions asked), it looks like they have a very well defined rules(like it or not)

Since those people who's parents visa get rejected under her are easily able to recoganize/identify her in forums. My in-laws were saying she was approving some & rejecting some, this was the same story from other counters too, infact much worse (as they were watching while in queue), but i donot see others mentioning those interviewers, the reason being they are not able to indentify such a person in forums.

People should know, unfortunately, rejections are quite high in chennai (in other cities in india too i suppose).

thats how life is, ups and down.
