Mom got Visitor's Visa in the first go.
Immihelp.com helped a lot in preparing for the interview. My mom went alone (as Dad already had a multiple entry visa). She informed them at the gate that she needs an interpreter. The officer who interviewed her spoke in hindi. They asked her questions related to me(daughter) and saw my papers only and nothing else.
Asked her questions about my Dad's salary, when she would come back, how many children, where they are living in India and abroad, and why does she want to go to the US.
The officer was good, she even made him repeat 2-3 questions. Overall it got over in 10 min. The 'key' is to be confident. I prepared my mom atleast a month in advance, sent her a list of all possible questions and also asked her to go through all the papers properly that we were sending to her.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL !!

Parents got Visa from Chennai Consulate
My Parents visited Chennai Consulate on March 23rd and they were issued Visitor Visa.I do not know for how many years they were issued the visa since they are still waiting to receive the passports.
They carried all the documents that I sent as well as those that my father prepared. To my astonishment the officer did not look at a single document of mine or my father's.
My Father was asked the following questions.
1.Where are you going? (USA)
2.Who is in USA (Son,daughter in law and grand children)
3.Where in USA
4.What is Your Son
5.What Company Does He Work for
6.How long Do you intend to stay
Then my Mother was asked the following questions
7.How many children do you have .(Three.. 1 Son ,2 Daughters)
8.Are the daughters Married (yes).
That's all, my father tried to show the officer some documents but he asked them to leave the passports at the Counter.

parents got visa for 5 yrs
My father works in MP and went to Delhi for the visa appointment. The lady taking the interview (indian) asked them why they came to Delhi and did not go to Calcutta. My father explained that Delhi is closer to MP but she did not believe. My father also did not argue.
She asked for the papers I sent from here and then asked them to wait. They were again called after 90 minutes and told that their visa is approved. She did not check any of my parents papers.
Make sure you send all the papers. I-134 is the most important document. Make sure you print it on just 1 paper (front and back).
Immihelp was of great help to me and I will suggest everyone to read all the links clearly before sending the papers. You dont have to search another website for any details. Immihelp has it all.

10 Years Multiple Entry Visa Granted to my in-laws
We had prepared the following list of documents neatly filed with post-its on them. So, its convenient for them to show it to the Consulate officer immediately, instead of running around for the right documents
1. Notice of Affidavit (sponsorship letter from US)
2. Letter sent to US Consulate office
3. Brother-in-laws Employemnt, bank & tax related documents
4. Our property & tax documents
5. My & my husband's employment proofs
6. Passport xerox (every page)
7. LIC & mediclaim papers.

The most imp. thing is to be very confident through out your interview session & give the right answer at the right time. We had asked for a hindi translator for better understanding for my in-laws.

Once, they entered the U.S consulate office, they were asked to go thru complete security check & prints of the Index finger, after submitting appointment letter for interview.
After security check, token will be given & the resp name will be called for interview. If possible wear a complete formal outfit & greet the consulate before interview starts. Also, be alert, confident & smile while answering, that shows the confidence in your eyes.
They asked the following question to my father-in-law, (mother-in-law was not asked a single question):-
1. Why you want to go to US
2. How many months you want to stay there
3. How many children you have and what are they doing
4. What are you doing these days ? <He is retired>
5. What were you doing before you retired and how much did you earn?
6. Which company is your son who is with you here working for?

The only tip for the success is practice very well, before going for the interview, cause while interview session thru phone, consulate might not understand answer given in hindi language, but the confidence & smile in your voice will always reflect in your voice.

For any questions or doubts, please get in touch.

Parents approved for Visitor Visa - 23rd March Chennai
Again

Many thanks to valuable tips in this forum. My parents visa was approved after a brief interview in the Chennai consulate

I am attaching below excerpts from my father's account his experience at the consulate

--------------------------------------------
We were there by 8-30 am for our Appointment of 9 am to 9-15 am.. One security asksus the time and allows only those having appointment within an hour in the Q, to avoid rush.Almost all of us had only file folders. There is a glass walled enclosure beside the gate, where the appointment
letter and Passports are checked. Then another guard allows us inside in batches. We are asked if we have mobiles. We are checked with both
column type and handheld metal detectors. We are also asked if we have any sealed envelopes. It is also ensured that there is nothing except
papers in the files.

Then T.T Services take over. One Q is for receiving the D.D or Cash for Rs 441
A label is pasted on each Passport and a number entered A paper receipt is given for T.T. Services D.D. Then there are 4 counters for
Initial Check..Passports, DS156, and 2 D.Ds. for Visa are taken. We have to write our names & Passport numbers on the back of the D.D.s.
The DS 156 is scanned, counterchecked with the data already entered, and any blank spaces asked to be filled. Then the Passport, D.D and DS156 are put in a folder and given to us with a numbered token
We then go to the Mail Interview hall, which has A/C & has heavy glass doors. The security guides us to our place. Different Counters are set apart for various languages, and Visa types.
About 4 windows are for B1 and B2. Our number is called by the staff in the hall and we are directed to the correct line. When one or a
pair are at the window, the next waits about 6 feet behind, as with Bank Teller. The Interviewer calls us as soon as one leaves.
We were fortunate that we were interviewed by a young American lady.
Mother wished her. We gave her the folder with Passport etc. There was a Lady Translator .
We were asked only a few Questions:( All the while the lady was thumbing through the Folder's papers).
Why are you Going?
Who is there?
How many Children do you have? Where are they?
What is your son doing?
 In which Company? .
She
wanted to see the Invitation and Company Letter. She told me to hand over the papers

She told both of us to place our Index fingers on the Red lighted reader outside the counter. Then I was sure that we had passed.
She said "You are getting the Visa. You can Go home" We thanked her, gave the Issuance D.D at the 1st Counter, got a receipt. and left.
We saw both at our Window & the next one, people being questioned more. But all came out satisfied till we left.Maybe it was one of
those Good Days when a lot of people were approved

-------------------------------------------------
Below is the list of documents - I had sent them or they had prepared

1. Original Passport
2. Visa Application Form – DS 156
3. Recent passport style photograph
4. Demand draft for Visa application fee
5. Affidavit
6. Invitation letter from sponsor
7. Bank statement of sponsor
8. I -134 Affidavit of support
9. Employment letter of sponsor on company letterhead stating salary and fulltime position and date of commencement of employment and designation
10. Copy of birth certificate of our son/daughter
11. Copy of marriage certificate of our son/daughter
12. Copy of passport pages of son/daughter/son in law etc

Visitor Visa Denied but Passport is not stamped with denial.
I am a Green Card holder and applied Visitor Visa to my mother for first time and denied. But the counsel did not stamp the passport with denial.

When I re-apply, what should I write in Point #31 on DS-156? Have you ever been refused a US visa?

Mother got 10 Years Multiple Entry Visa on her First Attempt
Hi to all,

My Mother had 10:00AM appointment for the visa interview on 21st March at the Chennaiconsulate. We reached Chennai on Sunday and we had taken deluxe room for one day for 400/-.my mother got nervous on that day about interview. She wasn’t sleep on that night. We started Monday on 5:30 am we had checkout the room at 7:00AM and after completing breakfast we went to consulate by 7:45AM.At consulate first batch of applicants are ready at security check. I said to my mother that you should go by 8:30 AM .one lady come around as and standing in front of us. My mother asked about her are you coming for visitor visa. She said no I already had visitor visa for 10years this time is for my husband .my mother asked her some tips like interview will be easy or not. What are the likely questions to be asked .some how my mother got some more confidence and lady said we are saying everything right don’t hesitate to tell the truth. They will definitely give you visa. Then my mother confidence increases and she went towards security check at 8:45 AM. On that day there is line and she had taken 45 minutes to go inside the consulate. And after she paid courier fees, application fees 4400.the interview officer is very polite and translator also. We chose Telugu translator and it's a great help for her. We also filled DS156 online. I also prepared her lot of questions like what is your name and what is your passport number, what is your Date of Birth, what is your husband name, when her turn came, she wished both the officer and translator then the officer asked the following questions.
1) What is Your Name? **** **** ***
2) Why’s your Husband not accompanying you? Government Job
3) how do you intend stay in US? 6 Months
that’s it the translator said to pay the DD another counter. My mother thanked the officer and translator with thanks sir and gave the finger prints.
Who ever attended the interview around that time got their visas accepted it seems. The main key is everyone should prepare thoroughly and know the documents. If any doubts any thing, any kind of information, any situation, I will help you all, don’t hesitate to mail me.
