B2 Visa rejected for mother in law
Hi everyone,

this forum really helped me on my L1 visa last year :)

my help i am looking for is, i applied for a B2 (visitor visa) during July-2018 for my mother in law who is widow and my wife is the only daughter to her, her visa got rejected. I prepared her DS-160 form showing her as a home maker. though we have an agriculture land in our home down and she does the farming out there. should i have put that in a way that she has a dependency in home country where she has to come back after her visit?

any help? thought of applying again during January-2019. let me know if you have any best experience/advise that could help to get her visa. thanks!

Rgds/Anand

B2 Visa Experience Mumbai
I had applied for B2 visa at the Mumbai centre. A piece of advice whoever plans to select Mumbai as the centre - "Please do not travel by your personal car. It is nothing but sheer pain". There is no space to park the car. Also, considering the traffic situation in the city it would actually turn out to be a blessing in disguise if you travel by public transport. I did that mistake of travelling by my own car which i regret to hell and back. The biometric test got done in 10 minutes flat. The next day was a holiday. Having learnt my lesson for travelling by personal car, I decided go book a cab which turned out to be just perfect. I was scheduled for 8:45 appointment. I reached around 7:15, to my surprise the place was jam packed. The initial people moving in serpentine queues was swift, then we were made to sit according to the time slots. This is where the patience started to give in. The entire lot was seated for atleast an hour. Then finally we were called inside the hall. Passports and biometrics were scanned again. That dreaded place is hustling with people and their expectations. The wait is just KILLING you, where you see dreams getting shattered in matter of minutes. Those split seconds just breaks so many dreams. It will be safe to say, i might have seen bare minimum of 600 people, out of which 8 were approved. I had a well travelled family infront of me, majorly Australia, UK and New Zealand, when their visa was rejected. I really lost all hopes. I was dejected. Then comes my turn I was guided to the same window which the family of 4 had gone to. I took a deep breath, stretched my jacket, straightened my collar, pulled my sleeves and walked with my head held high

Me - Good Morning, how has your day been.
VO - BLANK LOOK, Can I see your passport please?

Me - Here you go.

VO - So, where are you planning to go in the States?
Me - I plan to visit Philly, the big apple, and a couple more.

VO - But you have mentioned in your form New Jersey.
Me - Its a genuine mistake from my end. I didnt intend to.

VO - What does your friend do ?
Me - My friend is a someone in ABC company.

VO - Sir, your VISA is approved.
Me - Shocked !!! you got to be kidding me.
VO - Congratulations sir, your visa is approved kindly collect in 3-5 business days. Have a good day.
Me - You have a great one.

Please keep in mind - I have travelled just 2 countries, i have a great work history, i have strong ties here, i had made a pile of documentation with all supporting documents. None of which was checked, referred or questioned. 30 seconds of interview and BOOM. I wish everyone all the best and stay calm.DO NOT OVERTHINK.

Visa approved
I just got back from an interview for a B2 visa in Islamabad. Visa was approved and the interview was super chilled out.

My profile:
Did my MBA from the USA in 2011 and worked in New York for 2 years before returning to Pakistan.

The wait for the visa officer is quite long. I suggest taking a book like I did. The staff sent me to the Urdu window even though I asked for English. A caucasion American lady was my VO

VO: (In perfect urdu): Aap amerika kyun jana chahtay ho?
Me: I'm sorry but I'd prefer to do the interview in English. Your Urdu is probably better than mine.

VO: Sure. Lol! Why do you want to go to the US?
Me: My business school in the United States is celebrating its 100th year anniversary and they have called all the alumni including myself for a celebration. I thought it would be a great time to catch up with my former class mates.

VO: When is the event, the homecoming?
Me: January next year

VO: Have you been outside the US before?
Me: I went to Canada in April to pick up my Permanent Residence card and I was in the US from 2009 to.. 2011
VO: Yes. I know about the US dates thanks.

Types for a few mins.

VO: Where do you work?
Me: I run my own business. We have a branch in Lahore and one in Islamabad.

Types for a few mins.

VO: Your visa will be ready next week. Enjoy your trip!
Me: Thank you

She never asked to see my bank statement, company letter or invitation letter from my university. Though I had all those ready.

I noticed a lot of people were getting rejected. One of the big reasons people get rejected is that candidates choose to have the interview in English when they cannot speak the language. Don't assume that having the interview in English will improve your chances of getting a visa.. if your English is not good it will harm you. I would never interview in Urdu because my Urdu is terrible.

B2 Visa rejection South Africa
I have applied in Johannesburg South Africa for B2
I'm a student in South Africa with a study permit
I'm from Egypt

The interview was with a guy he was in his 30th and the and the 4 people before me got approved all of them and he approved a lady in front of me.

Vo: good morning with a smile
Me: good morning
Vo: what is the purpose of the trip
Me: shopping and exploring as I have 2 weeks of from my study and exams
Vo: do u study here ?
Me: yes
Vo: what do u study ?
Me: told and I said I have a student letter and gave it to him
Vo: while checking the letter and my passport did u travel before ?
Me: yes last 5 years only South Africa but before I traveled a lot we were living in Saudi Arabia and visited Dubai Oman and Bahrain
Vo : do u have relatives or family in USA ?
Me: no I don't have
Vo: typing ...... then waiting for the computer and grapped a green paper which means approval and few seconds grapped a white paper which mean rejection and then he looked at the compute and said sorry I can't give u a visa and my reasons in the paper.

So guys please I need your help or what went wrong because I'm sure in my ds160 form I said I don't know anyone there and really I don't have any, the only thing I did put in this section was the hotel name and number under others and advise me please what is the right way to fill this section
-- And by mistake I have applied for American visa lottery 2020 but I'm sure this is not the reason because he didn't even ask about if I have applied for any kind of visa before.

SO PLEASE GUYS I NEED YOUR HELP BECAUSE IM WELLING TO APPLY AGAIN VERY SOON
