Visitor/ Tourist Visa
Hi Guys !

Please, I have a very important questions. I know these questions should have been on the visitor's page which I have posted since a month ago but it seems not alot of people visit that page.
Am the preparation to invite my mom to USA for her vacation this Summer but I have a few concerns, first, my last name is different from her's since she a single mom, secondly, am a permanent resident married to a US Citizen, we live together and has good jobs. My question is, whom am I going to put as a sponsor, me or my US wife or my mom sponsoring herself since she is a teacher in a high school in my country.
Again, what are the necessary documents to send to her from US and what documents she needs to get ready by herself over there in my country. In other words, what documents can she present to the consular that will prove a strong ties and that she is not visiting here to stay but just a visit and go back since she is a teacher out there.

Please guys, anyone with a valuable source, information or links that will help me out so that my mom can easily get her visiting visa at the embassy.
Thanks guys as I anticipate positive feedback.

I have got a B1 visa, I went to the US for a conference in February for 5 days and came back home.
I wanted a family holiday with my wife and 4 kids, they attended the interview themselves since I have already gotten a B1/B2 visa but they were denied based on 214b.

I have the intention for them to reapply. Why were they denied? Can any one please advice me on what I should do next.

B1 Visa Approved
I had my earlier B1 visa expired on May 2017 and had put it for renewal on April 2018. Since it was not more than 12 months from expiry i qualified for the Interview Waiver program and went for only biometrics in the last week of april.

Received the passport in 3 days and was disappointed to see a blue form and passport not stamped with visa. The blue slip had a tick mark asking me to attend in-person interview.

Just as FYI to others if your time period for visa expiry is less then 6 months then you in all probability will get the visa renewed with just biometerics otherwise more or less you have to attend the interview.

With the blue slip you can walk in on any (Mon,Tue,Thu & friday) b/w 10-11 AM. Below is how the Interview went.

VO : Good Morning
Me : Good Morning Sir

VO : What is the purpose of the visit
Me : To visit our customer for business meeting etc etc etc

VO : Where do you work
Me: My company Name

VO: Who is paying for the trip
Me:My Company

VO:Are you Married
Me : Yes Sir

VO: Do you have any kids
Me:Yes sir ,gave details about my kids

VO: Congrats Visa is approved.
Me: Thank you sir.

Few things to note , in my previous travel B1 and L1 travel i have never overstayed the date given at the Port of Entry.

Documents Carried (Invite Letter,6 Months Payslip, 3 Years ITR, Current Company Offer/ Hike Letter,Previous Company Offer/Relieving Letter,Resume,My marriage Certificate,My property papers)

None of the above were asked but if you read through posts in the forum they have asked some of them.

All the best to others. Thanks for this forum in helping for my preparation.

B2 visa experience Delhi - Central Governoment employee
Hi all,

I wanted to share experience of my brother in law who works in BSNL from last 5 years, after his masters. (B.Tech. + M. Tech.).
I had sent him all the documents like cover letter, invitation letter, my bank statements, visa copy, I-797 copy, utility bills, W-2, bonafide letter from employer, I-134 (affidavit of support), and wanted to be the sponsor. However consular did not ask for any document.
My brother in law went with his wife and 6 months old daughter for interview on 1st May, 8 AM slot. His turn did not come until 8:45 (approx). Below were the questions asked from him -
1 - Why do you want to go to US?
2 - For how long do you want to go?
3 - What does your sister do in US? - She is on H4, and hence not working.
4 - What does your brother in law do?
5 - What do you do here?
6 - What is your degree?
7 - What visa your sister is on in US?
8 - Have you ever been to US earlier?
Consular did not ask any question to his wife. And eventually they said that your visa is approved. Consular was an american lady, asking questions in hindi. I think the important factor is body language, your information in DS-160, and eye contact. on 2nd May, his visa status is showing as issued, waiting for passport pick up email.
Good luck to others.

Tips:

Lessen carefully to the questions and give them answers straight to the point
Always look straight in their eyes while answering those all questions and avoid irrelevant replies.
Dress Properly (No slippers or sandals as possible) and look presentable. (they are very particular & observant on that)
Watch out your body language, facial expressions, shaking hands etc..
If you didn’t understand the question, never give an answer directly and ask “Sir, I beg your pardon as I didn’t catch you” or etc…
Never leave the smile on your face and relax.
Always put “Sir” while addressing the answer.
And last, I pray before I enter to their waiting area :-)

Good Luck!

B1/B2 Visa Interview Experience , Hyderabad Counsulate
I found immihelp really useful to prepare and be aware of the questions asked in the interview.

My family ( father 55ys,mother 52yrs,sister 20yrs) had interview on 20th April 9am slot in Hyderabad.
My profile : Single 26 year old working girl .Decent salary

VO to my father : where do you work ?
Father : NABARD bank as AGM.

VO to father : what is your salary?
Father : told the yearly package.

VO to mother : With What visa your daughter is working in US ?
Mother : H1b

VO to mother : When did your daughter travel to US for work?
Mother : 27th Jan 2017

VO asked father to give my H1B visa doc. My father showed

VO to sister : Which semester are you in?
Sister : 5th semester

Vo to sister : What will you do next?
Sister : after returning from US i will continue with my college in Hyderabad.

VO : Your visa is approved.

My parents said thank you and left and they got their visa within 2 working days .
I was so worried and prepared them with 100s of questions but they were asked only these general questions.
I heard that its difficult to get visa these days and hyd consulates are rejecting visas but I think thats not the case.
Just be honest and keep all documents right and you will be set.
Also , after returning from interview when i checked the status online it showed "Administrative processing" and i was again worried thinking if its again in work in progress but it was not so do not worry and keep patience ( i learnt it now ).
