Applying for a Tourist Visa - Please suggest
Hi Guys,

I recently came to know about this forum, I see a lot of nice people helping each other and suggesting do's/dont's when applying for a Visa. You guys Rock ! I'll do the best I can to render help in the thinks I am knowledgeble in.

Few things about my current situation and back ground:

I went to United States in 2008 on F1 and completed my Masters in Software , MBA in Information Systems and Finance during this time I travelled to India every year to visit my family for brief 2 weeks.

Changed my status to H1b in 2015 and visited India and got my Visa stamped in New Delhi.

I got my H1b extension till 2019 December but this time when I made my visit in April to get an other H1 Visa stamped in my Passport (DropBox) my case got suspended under 221g and got rejected (July ) as my end-client did not provide me a client letter as the Embassy required.

I started working in family business ( Constructions ) and I get paid a little over 1 lakh a monthly. I want to apply for a tourist visa as my best friend is getting married in Oct,2017

Please suggest me the approval rate if I should go try and get rejected or just stay away from making a trip.

1. I can sponser my own trip.
2. I'll just visit my friends wedding and get back in 2 weeks.
3. I make a little over 1 Lakh in India and have properties on my name that I can show like the apartment that I am living in.
4. I'm 30 years old and got engaged last month.

Please suggest if I should stay away based on my history or give it a try ?

Greatly Appreciate your Suggessions !

B2 Visa experience at New Delhi embassy
So I had my interview last week on Friday. I went for the 11 am appointment with the documents. I am a 25 year old single female who has never travelled abroad before. I tried to not be too hopeful while going in.

Here's how my conversation went:

Me: Hi
VO: *no response*
.... Silence.....

VO: May I have your passport?
*I hand it over*.... Silence.....
VO: What is the purpose of your visit?
Me: I am going to meet my... cousin... and brother-in-law, um- my cousin's husband in Atlanta, GA...
VO: How long do you intend your stay to be?
Me: About two weeks?
..... Silence.....
VO: *while looking at screen* Have you travelled abroad before? *looks at me*
Me: No, this is my first time
VO: *nods and types something while looking at the screen*
..... Silence..............
VO: What do you do?
Me: I am working at XYZ since the past 6 months
VO: *looks up from his screen* 6 months..... And what were you you doing before that?
Me: I was a student till last year.... *VO makes a face* I graduated last year only! (I quickly added this)
VO: And what school did you go to?
Me: ABC University... It is located in ABC...?
VO: Who do you live with here in India?
Me: My parents. I am an only child.
VO: *nods and types*
..... Silence of several seconds.... VO was continously typing something
VO: Your friend's husband lives there?
Me: No, no, no he is my cousin's HUSBAND! He is my brother-in-law. Wait a sec, I have an invitation letter from him. He works at Deloitte on an H1B? *show him the letter*
VO studied it for a few seconds and started typing something for a long time. I was standing there awkwardly when he said suddenly, "Your visa has been approved, have a pleasant trip" and smiled for the first time during our entire convo.
Me: Thank you *smile*

I thought that my interview was a bit awkward. I was thankfully not asked for many documents and although he asked me stuff, I tried to answer in the least number of words possible.

My tip is that there a lot of people who talk TOO much and the VOs can't do anything but be polite. Like, try to tell and fix your behavior if you feel like the VO is getting annoyed. Some people carry on talking while the officers are typing. People should remember that the VO isn't simply issuing a visa, but they likely have to take down and maintain notes on the whole thing as well.

Be confident, be precise and have a good reason to as to why you are visiting. Don't try to be too convincing because that might tick off the officer and speak only as much as required. If the officer is chatty then you may reciprocate that.

Hi All,

I have a question about entering US with visitor visa. My mom got visa on December 2016 but she has not visited US yet. Some of my friend told that person needs to enter US within 6 month once you get visa, Is that correct? I checked the website travel.state.gov and found nothing information on that. Thanks a lot for your response.
