3rd time applying for visitor visa
Hey guys i have a long story here. I have been denied the visa twice and the visa waiver once, is like they have a list of people to denied visa and im on it LOL.

First time i applied i was 20yr no job no school. Cuban citizen and portuguese resident. But it was a family trip (my parent were eligible for the visa waiver). They asked for all the documents (hotels reservation and parents salary). They simply said the i didnt have strong ties to my country.

Second time. I was 25 with a good job and Ok salary, university degree etc. Still cuban citizen and portuguese resident. I gave them salary proof and job contract. This time i was going to travel by myself for 1 month and i wanted to visit some friends. My travel plan was New York san francisco miami and orlando. I was planning to stay with my friend. Same thing, not stront ties to my country.

June 2017 finally i was eligible for the visa waiver, buuuut nope they denied the visa waiver too

So now i decided to try my luck cause why not.
This is my current situation.
Portuguese citizen, same job better salary, (i have the proof for that). Im going for a wedding (also have the wedding invitation). Im engaged and getting married in november( the only proof i have is a picture of my fiance proposing to me lol) Im traveling with my friend and not with my fiancee cause he is working in Australia at the moment. I have the hotels reservation 3 days in Miami (wedding) and 3 days in orlando (disney).
But if you ask im not feeling very positive. So yes, lets hope for the best

B2 Visa for In-laws - Malayalam
I would like to share my experience here. Hopefully it will help others as this site have helped me. I applied for B2 visa for my father-in-law and mother-in-law. I will list out a timeline of all activities:

 28 June, 2017 - Completed DS-160 for both father-in-law & mother-in-law
28 June, 2017 - Payment of visa fee - NEFT. This was really convenient for me.
29 June, 2017 - Scheduled visa appointment after confirmation of payment.
20 July, 2017 - Appointment at OFC to submit bio-metric information.
21 July, 2017 - Interview appointment at the Consulate(Chennai).

Interview Questions(With the help of 'Malayalam' language translator):

VO: Good Morning
Father-in-law: Good morning

VO: Please give me the passports
Father-in-law: Gave the passports

VO: Why are you going to US?
Father-in-law: For visiting places in US and to spent some time with my daughter, son-in-law and grandson.

VO: Are you retired?(mentioned in DS-160)
Father-in-law: Yes

VO: Do you get pension?
Father-in-law: No, I have shops in commercial land which I have leased out. That is my source of income.

VO: How many children do you have?
Father-in-law: I have a son, he and his family is in India and I have a daughter who is in California.

VO: Who is sponsoring your travel?
Father-in-law: My son-in-law

VO: I am approving your visa, have a wonder trip.
Father-in-law: Thank you.

No question was asked to my mother-in-law.

Tips: Help your parents to prepare for the interview. Below listed are some of the things I did, actually my wife did most of it :)

1 - Share a copy of DS-160 with your parents
2 - Compile a list of most commonly asked questions for B2 visa interview. You can easily find it online.
3 - Do a couple of mock interviews with them.
4 - Make then aware of what to expect when they reach the facility, both OFC and consulate.

Preparation will help them to build their confidence and it has a huge impact on the way they present themselves and answer the questions.

Hope I was able to help!

I have been rejected for B1/B2 on 28/072017. It was my first attempt. I passed through all the formalities like OFC appointment and actual interview. Thinking to reapply for visa. My question is do i need to again schedule for two appointments, i.e, for OFC and consular interview or only consular interview is enough.

married to Uk national but still rejected
Hi All

Just after some advice. I originally applied for a b2 Tourist Visa in Nov 2016 and it got rejected. I am a Bangladeshi national, living in London on a spouse visa and am married to British-born UK national who also works for the UK government. I had a passport with visa stamps from Italy and Malaysia in it also. Still this was not enough. Granted I had only been in the UK for six months and was not working at the time. My husband would have funded the trip and was travelling with me and I took his bank statements but they did not look at amny of my documentation and despite it being on the electronic form I am married to a British national, they still asked what visa my husband was on during the interview?! The purpose was to visit my cousin who has been a US national for many years. Still this was not enough and they had the dreaded form of rejection ready in their hand not long after I entered the room. They said I did not have strong enough economic ties at the time even though I was married to a UK national? Why would I leave him? She didnt ask many questions but asked some questions surrounding my marriage which i felt were irrelevant

I am now planning to apply again in October. I will have been working for ten months and so will be able to fund the trip myself this time and will have been in the UK. What are my chances this time?

Parents visitor visa experience with agriculture background-Second attempt sucessful
Dear Immihelp users,

I'm sharing my experience in applying visitor visa to my parents. My parents got their visa in second attempt. Please find the details below.

**** **** ***
First Attempt:
**** **** ***
Consular Appointment Date: May 8th 2017
US Consulate Location: Hyderabad
Language: Telugu

Below mentioned are the questions that were asked in first attempt:

VO: Why are you going to USA?
Applicant: To visit my son and daughter in law and to see some tourist places in USA.

VO: To which place you are travelling?
Applicant: Atlanta, GA

VO: How many children you have?
Applicant: Two, first son in USA and second son is working in Hyderabad

VO: To which company your son working?
Applicant: Answered current company

VO: Provide me your son Passport?
Applicant: My parent's gave passport to VO.

VO: To which company your son working?
Applicant: XYZ Company

VO: In passport it mentioned different?
Applicant: My son has changed company in USA.

VO: Please provide me I797 document?
Applicant: My parent were not able to provide I797 document, as there were lot of documents and could not identify. .............. :( :( :(

VO: What do you do for living?
Applicant: Agriculture

VO: What is your income?
Applicant: 1 Lac

VO: Monthly or Yearly?
Applicant: Yearly ..... My mother got confused and told yearly :( :( :(

VO: Sorry, your visa is not granted and handed over form 221G

As per my understanding below mentioned are the mistakes that occurred.

1) DS 160 Form fill up -- My parents occupation was agriculture, so i selected occupation as "Agriculture" and given employer name as "Own Agriculture Fields" and have NOT provided monthly income as it was mentioned in bracket (If Employed) . I thought agriculture is not employment.

Correction: In second attempt i have provided employer name as "SELF EMPLOYED" and provided monthly salary (Divided annual income / 12).

NOTE: Even though you are sponsoring for visa and all their expenses. VO will look at income to determine strong ties back to home country.

2) I797 -- I have sent I797 document as separate/Individual document.

Correction: In second attempt i asked my parents to provide Passport and I797 together , to prove that i maintain proper status.

Second Attempt:

Consular Appointment Date: July 21st 2017
US Consulate Location: Hyderabad
Language: Telugu

Below mentioned are the questions that were asked in second attempt:

VO: Provide me your son Passport?
Applicant: My parent's gave passport to VO along with my I797 form.

VO: To which place you are travelling?
Applicant: Atlanta, GA

VO: To which company your son working?
Applicant: XYZ Company

VO: How many children you have?
Applicant: Two, first son in USA and second son is working in Hyderabad

VO: What do you do for living?
Applicant: Agriculture

VO: How many acres of agriculture land you have?
Applicant: Answered

VO: Do you have own house?
Applicant: Yes

VO: For how many days you will be travelling?
Applicant: 3 Months

VO: Visa is granted
Applicant: Thank you

TIPS:

1) Be careful while filling DS 160
2) Don't confuse your parents with lot of documents. Arrange all the documents in priority/important wise, so that it will be easy for your parent to provide those documents to VO if asked.
3) Even though your sponsoring visa and all their expenses, it is mandatory to show that there are strong ties back home.
4) If both parent's are appearing for interview, do not discuss while answering any questions to VO.

Thanks

Sister Denied Visitor Visa
Hi Guys.

My sister and her son applied for the visa and had their interview today. She is currently a student in Honduras and has no job. She is 24 years old and her son is 3. In her interview, she said that the VO didn't even look at the documentations that she brought in and denied her visa. He told her to come back when she is graduated and has a job. Her parents and I are both her in America. Perhaps they told her that as she would have a tie to stay in Honduras if she has a job. Makes sense that they would deny her based on that her parents and sister live in America and would want to stay since the officers by law must assume that applicants will attempt to migrate and stay in the US unless proven otherwise that they must/will return back to their homeland.( This is just my assumption). I think if she would have applied by herself and not with her son, they would have given her a visa due to the fact that she would return to her son. Anyways, to any future applicants, make sure you provide a reason/ show any ties that will show that you cannot leave your homeland and that you will return. I believe that is the trick :). If all of your fam lives in the US you will most likely be denied because you have no reason to go back if everyone lives in one places, hope that makes sense!
