VAC on 3rd March. Original interview date on 4th March. But was later asked to come on 5th March as I had DD only for 500$. I wanted to pay by credit cards for the 4500$. But since my credit limit was not that high, I wanted to use 2 credit cards which was refused by the embassy. Therefore got DD the same day and came back the next day for the interview.
Visa interview went very well. Was surprised to get 221(g) again. Especially because I had applied for L1B 10 years back and I had to go through the same process (221g). Consular also commented that I need not have been so truthful in my visa application that the visa was denied last time as from his point of view 221(g) was not a denial. Have a feeling that it was because of my background/profession (Chemical Engineer)
Query: Do we get an acknowledgement from the consulate once we send the requested data?

VO was very friendly and congratulated me as this is my initial H-1B application. He asked me regular questions about my job, university, and where I stay. He asked me if I was ever out of status during my stay. I answered NO. He then asked me if I am aware of my rights in the US, to which I replied YES.
He told me that my case needs additional processing and issued a 221g white form. Haven't asked for any additional documents. Asked me not to worry and told me that I should hear back from them in 3-4 business days.
I also have to add that I was on an F-1 visa before and my petition got approved in 2017.

I was called for interview on Dec 7th, 2018 and was told by consular that a mail would be send with what additional information is required on the same day but I haven't received any mail yet.
There is no update on the website as well.
Contacted [email protected] on this but they don't have any info.
Got a mail from embassy asking to fill in DS5535 on Jan 25th. Responded to that and got an auto response that processing can take 4-6 weeks.

Appeared for my interview yesterday morning.
Was handed a green slip which said I will be contacted by email. I have not received an email yet asking for questions.
Others with a similar experience, how long did it take to receive their email? I will update if I hear anything further.

In my experience, case update is a good thing and they need not ask for documents (they did not ask from me even though I got a green slip)

F1 -> H1 change of status. Was a quick interview. VO asked me which location of the XXX company I worked at; what my salary was; highest level of education; Whether I worked in OPT and was I ever out of status. A lot of typing ensued, and the VO collected my passport and issued the infamous 221g blue form telling me that the visa was refused for administrative processing and that I have nothing to do about it now (other than wait :/). Asked her how long it would take, and she told me it should be about a week.

23rd Nov - went for dropbox for both H1 and H4
3rd Dec - Passport returned without visa stamping for both. H1 passport had a yellow slip asking to fill new DS-160. Filled that and submitted along with passports on the same day.
14th Dec - Passports returned, again no visa stamping for both H1 and H4. H1 passport had a white slip asking to come for interview at the Delhi consulate with both passports.
17th Dec - Both went for interview. Standard questions. Officer gave blue slip which mentioned additional documents to be submitted.
19th Dec - submitted documents via email. Got auto response.
