Had to drop box on Dec 13 th . We got a message to collect the passport on Dec 14 . We knew something was wrong . We go a blue slip asking for client letter . Went today to interview and submitted the letter . The vo asked usual questions and put a post it on the documents saying they need further admin processing and returned the passport . No idea when this is going to be resolved
Update : 12/19 client got call and replied positively
12/26 received mail to submit passport and did on the same day
12/27 First status update on ceac website
12/28 status changed to issued
Received mail to pick up the passport and picked up with Visa stamped

I submitted the passport for Visa Drop box on Dec 5th then after 2 days I got a call from the Embassy to come for the interview.Attended the interview Dec 10th.
VO asked very basic question and then asked for Client letter,VO kept the client letter and returned my passport with 221g white slip with no additional documents required.I assume VO kept the Client letter for verification since then my case is showing on AP.
Please share any experiences about client verification and long it takes to complete.

I with the docs asked on the 221g like SOW,Client Letter,MSA and Company letter. The VO officer in Chennai asked just for the client letter and asked to wait with yellow slip. After 1.5 hrs returned the client letter and mentioned they are not able to issue visa at this time due to admin processing and issued another 221g. They said nothing is required from my end at this time
Dec 03: Client Contacted thru phone and then mailed questionnaire to be filled out. And asked HR to send an email confirming the person who issued the client letter is authorized to do so
Dec 10: Client provided the filled out questionnaire and provided HR letter as requested
Dec 14: Got email to submit passport done on same day
Dec 19: Date updated to 19th Dec but status still shows AP
Dec 20: Status changed to Issued and on same day got email to Pickup. But spouse passport not received

UPDATE1 : 11th Dec - status still AP (during this time USTRAVELDOCS shows there is no status available for this passport)
UPDATE2: 12th Dec : Issued ( by evening 5PM USTRAVELDOCS shows passport ready for pickup)
Took about 8 days from interview to passport pickup.

Attended interview at Chennai consulate for O1 visa stamping. VO was polite and responsive. He asked me details about my masters and PhD degree and asked me more specifics on field of work and previous employer. He asked to see my visa approval notice (I 797). He typed on his computer as he spoke and when he was done, he went inside to consult with someone. When he was back he handed me a pink slip and said I had to submit the requested documents ( Invitation letter from employer, CV, Publications, research details) mentioned digitally. I told him I had brought those documents along but the VO said they needed this info digitally and assured it will be processed in 1-3 weeks. He collected my passport.
No updates for almost 3 weeks. I emailed my immigration lawyer and asked her to check with the consulate as well. I also sent emails to the contact email id mentioned attaching my offer letter and asking for status almost every other day.

Went for interview on November 16th. The VO just saw my I20, punched some details into the computer and gave me a green slip.
Background: My degree is chemical engineering, so I fall in TAL and I am currently a 4th year Phd student. I had done a masters before at a different university and then changed universities for my Phd so didn't have dropbox option. I am hoping to get this done before christmas as I have some academic obligations from early January. If anyone has been in the same boat or gone through a similar experience I would like to hear from you'll.
They just asked to submit basic info like resume, research details, invitation letter etc.
Dec 14th: Got a email to submit my passport. Exactly 4 weeks from the interview. The CEAC website still didn't update though.
Dec 18th: Got an email to collect my passport and CEAC website updated to issued. Got my passport with a 4 year visa on the 19th

I used to be a direct employee of Client 2 years back, and my H1 visa was annotated with the then employer name. I came back to India for some personal issues.
VO asked the following questions:
1. Where are you going?
2. Name of the client?
3. What's your highest educational qualification?
4. Salary?
5. Do you have a vendor?
6. Can I see your client letter?
Then realized I was a direct employee of my end client previously.
7. Why are they hiring you as a contractor now when previously you were an employee?
Gave a yellow slip and asked to wait.
Second VO called and asked me the following questions:
1. Were you in the US for 10 years before?
2. When did you last travel to the US? (I traveled on B1 twice after my H1 two weeks each time)
3. How did you know your current employer?
4. Why end client didn't hire you as an employee again?
Waited again
VO1 called again and gave 221g blue slip and returned the ppt.
My ppt will have less than 6 months validity in 6 weeks
