Hi everyone.
I got my interview on September 4th and consulate approved my visa and gave me a paper which shows my rights in the USA. 2 days after I got an email that my case needs additional administrative processing. They did not ask for any additional documents.
I got through this process twice before. It took 35 and 165 days, back in 2016 and 2017, repectively for my b1/b2.
Will be glad if you can share you thoughts and experiences about 2 questions:
1. Is it different in terms of duration of AP for J-1 comparably to the H-1, which is pretty common here?
2. Based on the fact that they did background check took 165 days last time, might it take lesser this time?

Interview didn't even last 2 minutes. No docs requested. Took the passport, asked the position title, salary and handed a white page with a case number and said that they'll need to do some admin processing and will get back to me asap. Status changed on Nov 28 to issued on CEAC tracker. Hang in there, most admin processing delays with no docs requested would be resolved within 1-3 weeks.

12/03: Administrative Processing
12/07: Received the passports with 221g Blue Slip attached and asked to appear for in-person interview
12/07: Attended Interview with finger print verification followed by an interview.
VO asked just four questions (Employer name, Annual Pay, Married or Single, Work Location) and keep reading his system and said looks like your case require additional administrative processing and issued different blue slip with the option checked as "Your application is refused for administrative processing. The Application will be reconsidered when administrative processing is complete". Retained my passports and said it will take 2 to 3 weeks for the completion of this administrative processing.
I am full time employee with fortune 500 company and this stamping is with reference to change of employer from my previous employers.
Any one with same boat sand much appreciated for any suggestions.

Actually consulate did not ask for any documentation during my L1B interview..They kept passport and other document and provided me 221g and ask me to track the case with provided case id.My B1 visa cancelled with "Cancelled without prejudice" so they need extra processing as I was told during interview.Interview went well asked following questions:-

Sharing my experience so that people would find this helpful. I am working as an FTE at a reputed company. I did my masters in US & was working since then.
11/26 - H1b Renewal, Docs Submission (Interview Waiver)
11/30 - Received email saying I should come to consulate for an interview on Dec 05
12/04 - Received an email saying my interview is postponed to Dec 07 (US consulate declared holiday)
12/07 - Interview at consulate. Asked general questions. Given white slip saying it would like 2 weeks to do administrator processing.
12/12 - Case status updated (Just date changed but still shows Administrator Processing)
12/13 - Case status updated (Just date changed but still shows Administrator Processing)
12/14 - Issued

2nd time H1B stamping. Came on vacation and project to be continued with same client. VO asked very simple questions:
1. Salary?
2. Highest degree?
3. Client name?
4. Do you have client letter?
5. How many years have you been working with the client?
Collected the client letter and put a sticky note with case number on it. Gave me a blue slip with admin processing marked. No other documents were collected or asked. I asked if any thing was required to be done on my side and she said you will be emailed if anything is needed. No update till date. Client hasn't received any communication from USCIS yet. Travel tickets cancelled.

Received email from the consulate to submit passport though any VAC/VFS centre.
Checked the CEAC website, no status changes there.

Here is the timeline:

20th Nov 2018- Passport returned to mailing address with Green slip asking for fingerprint + interview

Hello All,
Today I had been to US Consulate in Mumbai for H4 visa interview.
My background: I already have a valid H1, but I am applying for H4 as I am planning to take a break.
The officer asked me a couple of questions related to my husband's work and later took my passport and husband's i797 copy.
Later, gave me a green slip - need more administrative processing and asked me to wait for a reply from them via email.
