Interview for F1 Visa and F2 (husband and son) Visas on August 16. No documents were required during or after the interview. We were questioned about the number of entries to the US in the past (several as my husband studied in the US before and he attended academic conferences). Apart from this, a few inquiries concerning our jobs but nothing inquisitive. That was it.
VO was polite and professional; he concluded the interview by saying that our visas had entered in a process called "Administrative Processing" and that it could take 15 days or more to conclude the process.
Our status changed from "Refused" (standard status) to "Administrative Processing" on August 24 and from "Administrative Processing" to "issue" on August 30.

F1 renewal dropbox jul 19 2021, CEAC status change to refused on Aug 10, Received mail to attend the interview on Aug 11. Attended interview on Aug 17. Only 2 basic questions asked by offcier said that your field of study(TAL) needs administrative processing, gave white slip. Got mail from consulate to submit answers to the questionnaire, documents like CV, prof CV, Research area, Research plan of study. Submitted all docs on Aug 20. Mail from consulate said they will acknowledge the questionnaire. But instead received a generic mail saying "thanks for contacting us if the info here answers your question you will not receive sepesarte mail". Did anyone experience this. I am worried if my documents have been received by them or not. How long does this process take?

I wanted to share my experience for the H1 visa interview at the New Delhi embassy where I was issued a very rare form called DS-5535 which is apparently given to only 2% of the visa applicants worldwide.
My visa interview transcript:
VO: Passport, please.
Me: Passes on the documents requested.
VO: asked me to a different counter.
Lady at other lady asked me to reply back to the email(DS-5535) I'll be receiving from the Embassy.
I responded the next day.
I followed up with the embassy on the same email I received DS-5535 from once every week and as always they responded with a blanket response that my case is under AP.
After waiting for 3 weeks I contacted the senator from my state to inquire with the Department of State about my visa case on my behalf.
Senator's office forwarded the response they got from DoS which was the same blanket response they gave me.
The next day I got an email to submit my passport and got my stamped passport 3 days later. More details in comments.

I am going for Masters in Robotics, and had interview on 9th June.
VO gave me 221g blue slip and asked to submit the docs on mail Id given on the slip (Invitation Letter, Resume, Position, Publication, Research, Funding, Past 10 years Travel history, Contact Info).
Submitted documents on 10th June, since then the status on CEAC website is showing refused.
Got mail from consulate to submit passport on 14th July. Submitted on 15th July.
On 27th July CEAC status changed to AP.
On 29th July CEAC status changed to Issued.
30th July received passport with 5 years visa.

As your visa application is more than a year old, your case is administratively closed. You may re-apply for visa after filling in a new DS-160, paying the MRV form and scheduling an appointment.
