I had my interview for J1 research visa on 22nd Jan 2015. The VO took my DS-2019, CV, letter from my employer and passport. He asked me about my research and gave me a blue sheet. He said my visa needs administrative processing and ticked it on the blue sheet. no additional documents were asked. Still it says Admin processing in CEAC website.
Status updated on march 2nd as AP and issued on march 3rd. So total wait time is 39 days.

the status changed to issued today! Now waiting for the passport to available for pickup.

My wife received 221g green on Jan 8th and documents was submitted by her lawyer on her behalf to consulate on Jan 19th.
We got an acknowledgment email on document submission on Jan 19th.
Received email from [email protected] to submit the passport on 27th Jan around 3:30 PM.
Nowadays as one of the other user said the total processing time 39 to 40 days for all 22g green slip.
Best of luck to all the people waiting, do not loose patience and have faith. You should get in 40 days from the day of document submission.
