B1 visa not approved
I am standing and the officer is conversing with a couple in their 60s. They are conversing in punjabi while officer is trying his best to understand punjabi and replying in Hindi. After 2-3 minutes he says them thay "abhi hum aapko visa nahi de sakte" in his US accent. But they are not leaving the counter. Finally they call security to take them away.
I go there.
Me: Hello Sir, Good morning
He : (No reply) shakes his head and ask for passport and question what is purpose of your visit ?
Me : To attend training at client's location with regard to their product XYZ
He : Your duration in current company ?
Me : 3 months
He after typing for few seconds. We can't approve your visa and hand over 214[b] to me. He never asked why they sending me so early or anything else. He just sent me back. MAybe he was irritated. Nobody left the counter so early as me. I spent less than a minute there.
First of all I need to thank immihelp and users who shared their experiences on the forum. Here is my experience :
I went to New Delhi for my B1 visa to be processed , on 2nd of June, I had my Bio-metric done at the VAC in Nehru place. The process is pretty straight forward , where you will be asked to wait for your turn and the staff will call you according to your appointment slot ( My time was 9:00 AM) . The whole process took no longer than 15-20 mins and I was out of the place.
Things to note: You will not be allowed to carry any kind of bags, purse etc. inside the VAC , but you can carry a cellphone as long as it is switched off. There is no parking available at the VAC, so either you need to park at the Nehru place metro station (200 m) or somewhere in the market. I personally took a CAB to avoid any hassles and delays (Hope this helps to answer you commuting dilemma).
The Interview day:
My interview was scheduled at 10:00 AM CT.
However, there was a huge crowd already waiting in the queue for their turn outside the Consulate.
I reached around 9:30 and I know lot of you might have questions around if you will be able to bring your cellphones along. The answer is yes, but you need to submit it opposite to the US embassy, where there is a security booth , the guy charges 50 bucks and will log your name and phone number and will give you a token in lieu of submission of your phone. ( The process is quite safe).
Now, there is a check point where your passport will be verified by the staff before you are allowed to proceed for the security check. At the security check you will be only allowed to take documents in a transparent folder and any keys if you have with you( it may be Car keys or home key etc.)
now they will re-verify your fingerprints and you will be passed onto the next queue for your interview.
At the interview there are many counters and you will have to wait for your turn.
My Interview ( was a little bit longer than expected):-
VO: Good morning, how are you?
Me: Good Morning , I am good how about you ?
VO: I am good. ( I handed over the passport without her asking for it).
VO: Where in US are you going?
Me: Told her the exact location.
VO: For how long?
Me: 2 weeks.
VO: what is it for? what are you going to do in the US?
Me: I am going for a business meeting.
VO: What is your designation?
Me: IT consultant
VO: I did not undestand, can you elaborate?
Me: Elaborated the role.
VO: what does your company do?
Me: Told her about the company.

VO: So when did you join this company?
Me: Told her the exact date.
VO: Have you ever applied for a US visa before?
Me: NO
VO: Kept on typing for minute or so while looking into the computer screen.
I was puzzled as what she was doing, I kept my calm and was very confident.
and there came the Golden words, ok, your " VISA is Approved".
The whole jinx of the interview is to be firm , loud with your answers keeping in mind that you stay polite while answering the questions. Never show signs of nervousness ,listen to the questions carefully and if you do not understand , politely ask to repeat. Answer to the point and don't volunteer information, if they need to know anything they will ask you a second question.
I hope the above experience helps you for your Visa process, "Best Luck" .
I went to chennai for VISA processing. It was a 2 day schedule. The first day was biometric scanning which got completed in 15-20 min and the next day was interview with the Consulate member.
My appointment was @10:00AM, I went to US consulate at 9:30. I have to stand in the line outside the US consulate for 1hr, by the time I entered the consulate it was 10:45 and again inside there was a big line.
I spent another 45min in the line. Finally, my interview started at 11:30
The interview process:

VO: Good Morning Sir.
VO: Why are you travelling to US?
Me: To attend business meeting and technical discussion about company product(tell the exact product)

VO: Thank you Sir, your VISA is approved.
My initial plan was to travel on June 3 and I had filled the same in the application form, but because of 30 days waiting time for the appointment it got postponed. I was expecting some questions on this? But they didn't ask, even if they would have asked, My reply was it was a tentative date and the new date of travel will be in the 2nd week of July.
The overall experience of VISA interview was good, but somehow they have to manage the long waiting queue.
Thanks to immihelp users for all of their tips and experiences. This is wonderful website.
BioMatric session is very simple, It would hardly take 10 mins to complete entire process....Do not go so early. If you reach on time or if you even get late that would be fine, They would let you in.
Another process is little tough which is Interview with VO.
I gave my interview in Delhi US Embassy. Use Taxi to go there, Huge crowd was there, Do not go so early. Reach on time or just half an hour before maximum.
Security check before you go in....
As soon as you go in you have to go through with security check.
Now you would in interview Queue.
Now you would see lot counters, You would be transferred according to availablity.
I was scheduled for 8:30 AM interview. Huge number of rejections but you don't have worry as people came with silly answers & reasons to go to states. You should have geneuine reason which you can tell it to VO.
VO:- Called me.
Me:- Good Morning Sir(He did not reply)
He was typing something on his system, Getting info update for last person who was before me.
VO:- Why do you want to go to US?
Me:- I have to attend 2 Business conferences on accounting softwares & couple of training sessions on AD.
He was keep on typing....Silent for another 2 mins.
VO:- What you going to do in that confernece.
Me:- Informed him about my conference and its importance for our company and clients who are using those softwares.
He was keep on talking about that conference and in between, He put my passport on drawer and he said "YOU GOT VISA".......
Just 2 Questions.......I was suprised.
Few Tips Guys:-
If you going for Business conferneces or B1-B2 Visa
Please dress formal, Get atleast tie if you cannot wear suite, I was only one who was in Formals.
Be confident.
Only 2 questions would decide your Visa.

If they are convinced with purpose, Nobody can stop your visa.....I was on counter number 13. Nice young guy...
Thanks to immihelp users for all the tips and experiences.
I attended my interview today (13 June) here in Mumbai, I arrived at 8:40 AM was scheduled for 9:00 AM batch, they asked for passport at the entry, so be ready with passport while entering, no other documents required.
We waited in the first small room and then went for security scanning, once that is done, you have to wait at the sitting area, there are at least 200 chairs to sit inside before going inside the interview area.
All in the same sitting line are called at once, to go inside, you have to scan your right fingers again, once this is done, stand in queue for the interview, my number came at 27 counter.
