Just started my day before OFC, done with my fingerprints and photographs. Not following the time slots. If you go before the timeline, they will just check the date and allow you after few waiting mins.
My day @ consulate.. It was a very long queue. My schedule is 11AM but I have been there by 8'o clock. Started my line by 8.15 itself. Security didn't check the timings and they have checked the barcode and confirmed the date. They have allowed well before the timeline.
Waiting time took 90 mins... One old lady VO was rejecting all the applications, I was praying that I shouldn't be in that counter.
Fortunately I was asked to other side of the counter where a young man was a VO.
My previous applicant got VISA approved and he was so happy and greeting the VO with much pleasure, I was smiling at both of them and felt relaxed. Then he called me before the applicant moved. But I still stood behind and was waiting for that person to move. Then I have greeted him with a smile. Here's my conversation,
Me: Good Morning, Here's my passport
VO: Why you are going to US?
Me: To attend business meetings and have a discussion with my existing client.
VO: Who's your client?
Me: YYYY XX
VO: What's the nature of the discussion?
Me: Explained in bit detail in 2 lines about the discussion points
VO: Why you have been to Colombia? (He has seen that stamping in my passport)
Me: Business discussion for the other region.
VO: How long you working with your company?
Me: Into the 5th year
VO: How long you are going to stay?
Me: 4 weeks
VO: What's your salary?
Me: YYYY X
VO: Your VISA GOT APPROVED.
Me: Thank you so much! and left happily.

B1 Visa Interview Experience
Hi All,
I gave interview for B1 Visa on 02-08-2016. Below is my experience.
Reached at US consulate office at 8.30 AM. Though my interview time was 9AM I have to wait till 9.30 to get in the Q. Finally at 10 AM I was in the premises with all security check done.
Here comes the important part.
After waiting in premises we were asked to get inside interview hall where people were already lined up for interviews. I joined the Q and with every Rejection my heart beat was increasing. I was bit nervous but was trying to look confident. Finally I was asked to go to window no 31.
VO: Hello Sir, Good Morning. Passport Please.
Me: Good Morning Sir (While handing over passport to him).
VO: Where Are you travelling sir?
Me: Santa Clara. ##### Client.
VO: How long will you stay there, Sir?
ME: 2 Weeks
VO: Why Are you going, Sir?
Me: To attend business meetings and requirement gathering.
VO: What is your designation, Sir?
Me: Software Engineer
VO: Then, Why you only, Sir?
Me: I have relevant experience and domain knowledge. Also, I am the only one in my team who communicate with client.
VO: Team size Sir?
ME: 8
VO: Designations of other team members, Sir?
ME: Associates and Junior associates.
VO: What did u do while your stay in Germany, Sir?
ME: Product Training.
VO: Thank You Sir, Your VISA IS APPROVED.
Me: Thank You. Have a great day ahead.
Important Points:
1. Wear formals, your first impressions is very important. However its not mandatory but do not give window for rejection. Wear tie, it looks good.
2. VO was addressing me with Sir in each and every question. Show some respect while replying and give smile at the end of answer.
3. Pretend that this meeting is important to client. Don't show your desperation.
4. Most important. Be confident.

VO was a young male and was asking questions in a casual
way , not like a strict QA stuff .
VO : Hi there
Me : Hello Sir..
VO : So why you wanna go to US
Me : I'm going for business discussion and meeting ..
VO : Whats the purpose
Me : 2 of my clients are moving to our new version of our
cloud shortly , so that's why .
VO : What are the client names ?
Me : XX, XX.
VO : Why you ? why cant they sent someone else ( Very
casually )
Me : I'm the Primary Engineer for these accounts ,that's
why me .
VO : So your company YYYY , are the Hq'ed in US ?
Me : Yes
VO : Where you are going ?
Me : Santa Clara
VO : How long ?
Me : 2 weeks
VO: Have you travelled before to US ?
Me : No Sir
VO : How many employees you have here in India and US ?
Me : Answered , just a vague figure
VO : How long you are working with this firm ?
Me : 1 year 6 months
VO : Ur married ?
Me : Yes
VO : Kid's ?
Me : Yes , one 3 yrs old
Now , to last question .
VO : So , if you are not getting VISA approved , what they
are going to do ? What's the plan ?
Me : ( I smiled when i answered ) I'm not sure Sir , But
they really expect me to be there ..
Before I completed the last answer he told , "I'm taking
you passport , you will get your Visa with 2-3 days "
I said "Thank you Sir " and left
Some side note's :
1 . You can edit your DS-160 multiple time after
submission , I corrected it twice .
Just you need to choose the option , create new DS-160 .
your pre-filled option will appear there , change whatever you want , take the new DS-160 print , tell them that you have a changed DS-160 during biometric , they will take the latest one.
Call ustraveldoc helpline number for more clarity
2 . If you have your Visa rejected once and appearing
again please make sure you have a valid justification .
One guy who re-appeared for VISA again they were asking ,
what circumstances have changed ?
Could you please explain clearly ?
You can't just simply re- apply .
3 : Dont carry you mobile .
You need to keep it on a shop outside and its a waste of time , long queue there also
4. No strict time slot for interview .
I went at 9:15 am , slot was at 10 am , but was able to get out around 12 pm only, they are not checking any slots ,be there around 1 hr before .
