Expedite request receipt
Calling for people with Expedite Request experience!

I submitted an expedite request for my EAD on Sept 10 (AOS, NBC, PD March 4, I'm way outside normal processing time).

I just received an email saying that says "There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.

Receipt Number: MSC***

Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Your Case Status: Acceptance

On September 12, 2019, we received your request for expedited processing on your Form I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION, Receipt Number MSC***. We are reviewing your request and will notify you if we need additional information."

Now, I logged in to my case status page and it says "My expedite request was received", but under the "next steps" section it says "As of September 10, 2019, your request to have your case expedited, referral number T1F***, is currently not assigned for processing."

So this is unclear to me: are they reviewing the case, as the email claims, or has it not been assigned for processing yet? Which one is it?

Regardless, in your experience, since the moment you receive this email, how long does it take until you hear back from them asking for the evidence for the request?

Thanks so much.

Driver's License
This question is for anyone that has their DL without GC.

So my husband had a Limited Term DL when he first came to the US and it expired after 6 months. Now that he has his EAD and SSN can he use that to renew his DL? What information will he need to bring with him?

Can a Congressman or Ombudsman help with the EAD process? What's the difference between contacting one or another? When is it the right time to contact them?

Expedited EAD I-765 process
Just wanted to share our experience here in case it would be of help to anyone. I applied for the I-140 in February, with my wife as dependent applicant. We also concurrently filed the I-485, I-765 (EAD) and I-131 (advanced parole).

Our biometrics were completed in early March and I received my EAD+AP combo card at the end of March. However, my wife's did not arrive. In early April, she got 2 decision letters saying she was now a permanent resident, and as such, here I-765 and I-131 had been denied.

After several months of waiting in vain for her I-551 (Greencard), we learned from the USCIS that these letters and consequent denial of her EAD was an administrative error. She was then advised to file a new I-765 and I-131 application, which she did in mid-July.

On August 2, my wife got a job offer but could not resume work since we still did not have her EAD. Finally, after another phone call to the USCIS in late August, the agent raised an expedite request. A few days later, we received a letter in the mail asking to send further evidence. We sent copies of her 765/131 receipt notices, the earlier letters from April sent in error and a copy of her recent job offer. Our reasons on the cover letter were: USCIS error and severe financial loss. Within a week of mailing the evidence packet, the egov.uscis.com website updated the status to "New Card Being Produced".

Here's a brief synopsis starting from the second EAD application:

July 17: "Case Was Received" (my.uscis.gov and egov.uscis.gov)
Aug 27: "Notice of Representation Updated" (our lawyer filed G-28 forms to represent us on all our applications; this update only showed up on the my.uscis.gov site)
Aug 27: "Your Expedite Request has been Received" (egov.uscis.gov)
Sep 3: Letter arrives in the mail from USCIS requesting further evidence for expeditious handling
Sep 5: We mail 765/131 receipt notices, earlier USCIS decision letters sent in error and job offer letter.
Sep 11: "New Card Being Produced" (egov.uscis.gov)

It's been a long wait since February. My wife was earlier on an H1-B which lapsed in May. Grateful to God for his blessings, since these days, things are not as straightforward as they may have been in the past.

But hopefully this is useful to anyone still waiting on their EAD and that it sheds more light on the expedition process.
