Card in production
Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker here, and finally got my EAD approved, so wanted to share my experience. Reading people's stories here mostly gave me hope, so I wanted to try to repay the favor.

I-765 eligibility category (c)(9)
Receipt date: 02/13/18
Notice date: 02/23/18
Biometrics appointment: 03/22/18
Service Center: NBC

I had a job offer come through in mid May, with a start date of mid August. I was naively still operating under the 90 days estimate for EAD to get approved (geez...), so thought I would be fine. Then when all the EAD processing estimates jumped to 4 - 6 months at the start of June, I freaked out.

That's when I wrote to my local congressperson (look up your representative here: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative, then their website should have a section for 'assistance with federal agencies'). Their office was incredibly helpful, and tried to expedite the application with USCIS using my job offer letter.

Congressperson notified me that USCIS officer had pulled my file to review, would contact me within 30 days with decision or notice of action: 06/15/18
Card in production: 06/19/18

My advice is to be as proactive as possible. If you have a job offer, try to use that to leverage some action. I had luck with my local congressperson. Sometimes reading this board made me less hopeful, as some people have been waiting a very long time. I tried to tell myself that the people for whom the applications were smooth or easy or timely were less likely to post their stories than someone who is worried, so try not to get too demoralized by the tails of woe on here.

GC EAD Renewal
Few Questions:

1. How much fee do I need to pay for EAD to renew? Is it free for pending I-485 application?
2. Does it have any auto extension for 6 months after the expiry date? Please share your experience or knowledge.

My EAD/AD timeline
Hello Everyone,

So happy to be the one to share my experience finally, after spending hours in this forum of reading all the different posts. This forum has been really helpful, I just wish I found it earlier, I believe I would act differently from beginning.

So sharing my timeline

I am married to US citizen (C09)

11 Dec 2017 - application was sent
14 Dec 2017 - application was received by USCIS
8 Jan 2018 - biometrics
Somewhere at the end of April found this forum, called USCIS to inquire about the case. Received a Generic letter in mail after a week, saying that he case was under processing
15 May 2018 - was exactly 5 months, no answer from them, called the agent, and our lawyer raised SR from his side. No reply
23 May 2018 - submit another SR online. Got an answer on 27 May 2018 , saying that it is under normal processing time. Right after that the timings on the website were edited to 4-6 months waiting period. At the same time frame, our lawyer (after we told him to do so) requested the info pass, as in everyone's case I believe it was also useless.
23 May 2018 - also found our congressmen office number and sent them the release form. The person who was dealing with them shortly after took a vacation, so did not here from them till Jun 11. Also they were not really helpful, saying my case is under normal processing time.

Waited till Jun 14 (to be exactly 6 months - no answer what-so-ever). I decided to expedite, as I got a letter from the employer stating the loss they gonna have if they do not hire me, and job offer. Called USCIS, made an expedite request, the agent said to wait for the email to fax the proof. Never asked for any proof and on Jun 16 - got email "your case is approved, we are producing your card". Did not receive the card in hand, but so much released and can plan my life back again.

Good luck to everyone, hope all of you get good news very soon.

Contacting congresspeople
Hello guys!

I have a question that may seem stupid but HEY just like everyone else, I am here to learn, right?

So, I am still waiting for my EAD card (it's been 120 days now) and I want to contact acongressman and see if he can help expedite it based on financial hardship. My question is, what would be the best way to contact him in thsi case? Send an e-mail? Send letter? Phone? Or just show up at his office?

Need help with REF
Hey!

After 172 days from filing, we received a REF on sponsors Complete Federal tax income for the most recent tax year. We filed initially in 2017 so we had attached the sponsors tax return for 2016 (as we were supposed to). Since we are past April 17th, they now want the tax return for 2017.

REF says:
“The sponsor must submit a complete Federal income tax return submitted to IRS for the most recent tax year. If you were not required to file a Federal income tax under U.S tax law, attach a written explanation of why are not required to file.”

So now they want the tax info for 2017. Our problem is that the sponsor has filed for extension to complete the taxes later, and therefore we do not have his tax return for 2017.
What do we do now? Do you think they accept if we just send proof that he has filed for extension and that the tax return is not available now? Or do we simply have to wait (for a couple of months) until he files them again?
Has someone been in a similar situation, or know what we should do?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
