Disappointed
Hello everyone,

I found here a safe space to express our anxiety of waiting and trust me reading others comments really calm is sometimes but motivate us another times..

I have a question, if the work permit comes late will that affect and delay my interview as well ?? I think these guys don’t have a rule !!
One of husband’s colleagues got married in October 2016 and filed his applications on March 2017, he got his work permit in less than 45 days, but the interview is scheduled for February 2018 !! Is this waiting is counted as continuous residence here for the naturalization or it starts after he gets the green card ???

Another friend got married and had his work permit almost after 5 months of waiting, one week later the interview was scheduled and received the green card !! I hope that i am in his category..
I guess really there’s no time frame, it’s only case dependent :/

Also..
When I checked my status online it said I was approved on the 17th but the email that the congresswoman forwarded to me from USCIS stated that I was approved on the 16th. And the date on the approval notice is the 16th so I don't know how accurate they are with theie dates.

Also, I received notication on the 20th that card was mailed out on the 19th.. And my card arrived on the 24th so it took around 5 days. But from approval to actually receiving card in hand is about 7-10 days..it took me 8days.

And one more thing I noticed is that my status did not update to card in production it just changed from approved to card mailed.

If anyone has any questions, let me know...

We are all in this together. This forum was one of the best things I found during this period

Thank You Jesus
Hey guys,

Today I finally received my EAD!! Praise God

PD date July 10, 2017 marriage based
Bio: August 9, 2017
Response to rfie: August 15,2017

After that I waited and waited and waited..

Filed 2 service request that did nothing. However it is still good to do SR because when you request help from ombudsman or congressman they will want to know that you tried other things first.

On December 4, 2017 I contaced my congresswoman, after 147 days. They were very helpful..a week later USCIS sent me update that my case is under review. I was so happy to finally hear such good news but then the waiting game continued again.

On day 184, which was January 10th 2018, I contacted congresswoman again to do follow up based on new job offer.. The following week, Jan 16th my case was approved..on Jan 19 card mailed out.

I understand that 6months is the standard wait time, but it is kinda sad that some people receive their EAD within the normal timeframe while others have to suffer for 5,6 7 months.

My advice to anyone who is still waiting since the summer of 2017, contact your congressperson or ombudsman.. For some people on here the ombudsman helped while for others like me, the congressperson helped. Also don't stop praying and trusting in God..it was during this rough wait time that I started to pray more and God answered.

Don't lose hope guys, your time is coming too!

Waiting!!!
Hi All,

First of all congratulations to all whose applications who finally moving and receiving your EAD cards etc.

i just needed a space to vent due to the waiting driving me insane. I’ve been reading all the comments , more and more of us are finding out that it might actuallly last 9 MONTHS to begin working. My frustration is how they expect us to live our lives without money, without knowing, cant drive or fly. How can there be so many centres with backlogs with our application? I’m beginning to feel like a vegetable.

Again, apologies for the negativity. I still am praying and waiting for the best - for all of us

infopass appointment
So today I went to my infopass appointment in nyc and the USCIS officer told me the processing time is 6-9 months right now. He said combo card will take a couple more days to complete. I've been waiting for 5 months right now (PD: Aug 23, 2017). He said I just have to wait, even though I've showed him my job offer.

I’m anxious
Hello everyone,

I had an offer for a job, they wanted to pay me around 30$ per hour but i lost it because i don’t have a work permit, also i lost another job in my homeland because i got married here amd wanted to start new life, in my country i can’t marry the man i love but i am glad we were able to do it here..
But after this waiting i became to be so anxious, i don’t know what’s the time frame or how they process the application, i see here a big success and big fails to get the work permit..
I applied to adjustement of status from new York sending my app to Chicago..
We sent the document in October 16, 2017
Still nothing.. i sent a SR thorough the website, they say it is still not assigned for processing !!
I started to doubt if we did everything right !! Or is there any limits because we are same sex marriage ?!
I am really anxious, i can’t drive, i can’t work, i can’t have an insurance, even we are not able to opem a joint bank account or do any sort of approval they ask for the interview..
Please help me :/

EAD Experience c9
Hi all,

I have been an avid reader of this forum, and I wanted to share my experience below, maybe it can help.

- PD: 10/26/2017 - sent in I-485, I-130, I-131, I-765 for Adjustment of Status
- Bio: 11/28/2017
- RFIE: 11/30/2017 - needed more proof of citizenship
- RFIE responded: 12/20/2017
- Called T1 officer: 12/26/2017 - 45 days had passed since PD, and case number did not work online/via customer service. T1 officer told me that it was because of backlog and not to worry.
- 1st SR: 01/08/2018 - Raised SR because case number did not work. Got transferred to T2 officer that told me that case number would work when the case had been approved, and that my case officer had not made a decision yet. She also told me there was a 6 month backlog and to wait patiently. Not very helpful.
- I-485 Update: 01/09/2018 - status changed from not working to "Ready to Schedule Interview"
- I-765 Update: 01/18/2018 - status changed from not working to "New Card Being Produced"
- I-765 Update: 01/22/2018 - status changed from "New Card Being Produced" to "Card has been mailed to me". Also received in mail notice of approval for EAD/AP combo card
- Card in lawyer's hands: 01/24/2018!!!
- Total wait time: 91 days including card delivery

Things that might/might not have helped: Ecuadorian citizen, applied for Adjustment status via marriage to USC (category c9), from Idaho, with lawyers, previous F1 student on STEM OPT.

Things that I recommend: From my personal experience, I recommend to use these two apps: Case Tracker and Informed. Case Tracker is an app that lets you track your various cases, as well any other that you have the case number for (a lot of people have recommended it on this forum as well). Informed App is an app from USPS that scans the mail you're supposed to receive that day and send you pictures of it, so you can keep track of your USCIS letters that way. Also, you can ask for a tracking number for your EAD/GC from USCIS the moment that your card is mailed to you.

To USCIS husbands and wives: SUPPORT YOUR SO!! Be their source of strength, be patient and loving, and overall be understanding. If this whole process is frustrating for you, imagine how debilitating and horrible it is for us. Be the positive ray of sunshine we need during these darkest times.

To everyone else waiting,I am with you, I understand what all of you are going thru and how hard it is. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. But remember that the waiting period WILL END, and that you will THRIVE! We are STRONG and we aint going anywhere!!! Dont let the system beat you down, we are BETTER!! Good luck to everyone out there!!!!
