Completed bio metric on oct 31'st 2017.
my cases are pending for almost 99 days.
When should i be able to get my EAD and Travel Documents?
Can anyone tell me how long it is going to take for my ead and travel document to get approved ??
Initial EAD and I-131 application (same-sex marriage) approved!
I just received my EAD and I-131 approval today in the mail. After months and months of stressful and nerve-wracking wait, they have finally arrived.
I'd like to share my experience here, as this forum has been tremendously helpful in keeping my sanity throughout this journey. In particular, I'd like to ease the minds of LGBT filers since there's very few resources out there that discuss their experiences, and hopefully, reassure them that being in an LGBT relationship is not a contributing factor in the delay—USCIS is simply backed up.
• Total calendar days: 169 days (6 months)

Takeaways:
—Hang in there. I understand the emotional and financial distress you're going through that can take a toll on a new relationship. It's all going to end soon. Use this time wisely instead to enhance your learning, prepare your resume, prepare for the job interview, get a driver's license, or whatever you need to get you up and ready when your EAD arrives.
—Contact the ombudsman or congressman/senator. This move has been helpful because they are able to get the information that USCIS representatives just couldn't tell you.
—Document everything so that you can relay the timeline when you contact your congressman or senator. Documenting also helps because USCIS representatives tend to give out inconsistent information.
—Do not rely on the MyUSCIS or the USCIS tracking website. I don't think they diligently update those.
Please find below a sample letter to my congressman:
====================================================================================
Dear Representative Evans:
I would like to request for your office’s help in expediting the adjudication of my Employment Authorization Document (EAD, I-765) petition, which has been pending with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Missouri Service Center since June 23, 2017 (188 days). I have filed my EAD along with my I-485 and I-131 forms—all of which I am still awaiting response.
I have made several attempts to contact USCIS to get an update on my case status and have opened two service requests in the last six months. So far, I have not received any conclusive response other than my case is under review.
The uncertainty and inordinate wait time for the approval of my EAD have greatly caused financial and emotional distress for my wife and me. My wife not only financially supports me but she is also the breadwinner of her family, so my inability to contribute to our household is causing her tremendous stress. Moreover, having no job, no way to support my family back home, and being an unproductive member of society have all made it impossible for me to live a normal and fruitful life.
I have attached herewith the details of my case. It is my hope that your office could help me to fast track the adjudication of my EAD application.
I'm going to concurrently file AOS documents this week.
Any other Atlanta filers please share your Timeline!
Hopefully everything should be submitted by 1/11/2017 and that should give USCIS 120 days. I've heard the EAD is taking longer but at this point my only concern is getting my EAD in time so I don't have to leave my job (my OPT EAD expires in May). Should I contact congressman immediately to escalate. I think I have a solid case to expedite my EAD- if I stop working I will not be able to pay student loans, make a car payment, mortgage payment etc. and my husband (USC) is working PT and in school. What do you guys suggest?
I wish I submitted 6 months ago but can't you only renew your EAD in a 120 day time frame?
Hey!
First of all thank you for all the information shared in this forum. It helped me a lot going through the painful process of waiting.
Please find below my timeline and some additional information about my I-765:
- Filed: 4th of October 2017
- Biometrics: 6th of November 2017
- Info Pass Appointment: December 2017 (I do not think this helped at all, as the lady just told me to wait. However, she wrote an email to the NBC asking about my case. But I never received any reply)
- 1st Service Request: 18th of December 2017 (no answer and not appointed to an officer yet)
- End of December I also contacted my congresswoman, however I did not receive any reply until now
- 2nd Service Request to expedite my case: End of December (was denied)
Two days ago I called again and this time I was really lucky to talk to a very nice Customer Representative who actually was able to tell me more about my case and forwarded me to an also very nice 2nd Tier Officer. This 2nd Tier Officer told me, that the current average waiting time is 3-5 months due to a backlog. They are implementing new systems, that is why the online status often is not updated. Moreover, he told me that my card was produced last Friday and yesterday (8th of January 2018) I received the approval notice and am waiting now for my actual EAD card.
I filed from Puerto Rico and my case is handled by the NBC.
So, please just be patient, and just try to take every kind of action possible. At least that is what I did to ease my nerves.
Marriage based, filed I-130, I-485, I-765 and I-131 concurrently. Filed from Orange County, California, however, the receipt number says NBC, so must have gone through their main hub.
Filed: 31st October 2017
Biometrics: 27th November 2017
EAD and travel approval: 2nd January 2018
Received approval letter: 8th January 2018
EAD Combo card: Awaiting
I feel lucky after reading this forum and seeing how long people are waiting. I filed with an attorney so didn't have any RFE's. Neither did my status get updated on their system, just was in the mailbox tonight.
I am on L2 visa and my EAD was expired on 09/30/2017.
My husband had got new L1 approval till 2019.
Can I submit the application as "renew" EAD?
or is there any time limit after expiration to file renewal application?
or do I need to click on "permission for employment" option instead of renew option?
Hi, share your experience from vsc
From July I file 18th I put few inquiries
3 times calls in November and December
They were saying I am within the time pls share
Your Experience
Hi all,
First off, thanks for all those who posted, replied and shared their experiences over here. It has been a long wait for me, and checking this forum helped keep me sane (most of the times).
For that purpose I am sharing my timeline with application details, hope it benefits those who are still waiting. My application is based on marriage, and is processed in NBC:
-July 31st: Application received
-August 28th: Biometrics
-October 17th: First Service Request, no response
-November 27th: Second Service Request, no response
-Nov and Dec: I called several times and asked to be transferred to L2, they can provide more info (case has been assigned, no problems in the case etc...) but they all said to just wait because of delays mostly in EAD and not travel applications.
-January 8th: Checked the mail, and my letters of approval were there. Such a relief. Combo card should arrive in matter of days.
My advice is to be patient and check the processing times link which from my experience is generally accurate. SRs don't help because they don't even get assigned, it's good, however, to call and get transferred to L2 officers who can sometimes provide more details about the case. Good luck to all...it is agonizing to wait, but be patient and remind yourself that you are not alone.
I filled via marriage based
PD- JULY 31, 2017
BIOMETRIC- AUGUST 26, 2017
Called several times and asked for any INITIAL EVIDENCE/RFE for I485.....i got NO for an answer.
Yet NO EAD After almost 6 months.
Today, 8 JAN, 2018 i just received a letter from USCIS for initial evidence. lol! to submit joint sponsor birth certificate or proof to show he is a US citizen.
Now what will happen to my EAD? i was expecting it this month end. But I am afraid the RFIE will automatically reset everything to ZERO.
Hi!
Is there anyone applying from Tennessee?
My case is through marriage, I had my biometrics done in 11/04/2017
And I am still waiting. If everything goes well, it should be here in February (followimg the normal timeline).
But I am afraid, I've been looking here and there is a lot of cases taking forever. And some lucky ones taking the usual timeline. It depends of the state right?
