Travel with STEM OPT Extension pending
I am on F1 post completion OPT right now. My F1 visa is valid till Jan 2020. My OPT EAD expired on 24th Jan 2017. USCIS received my STEM Extension application on 12th Dec 2016 and it is still pending. I have a family emergency and need to travel urgently to India. My employer have filed permanent residency application, Perm is approved, I-140 is filed in Dec & still pending. I have I20 endorsed from school with STEM extension dates.
What are risks for my re-entry to US? Will they allow me re-enter without STEM extension OPT EAD card?
My employer immigration attorney says i can re-enter based on my I797 receipt date without my STEM extension OPT EAD card. But there is slight risk they may not allow me to enter.

I am carrying following documents with me:
Passport valid for 2yrs, Valid F1 visa, Expired EAD Card, I-797C receipt notice for STEM OPT application, I-20 with travel endorsement, Employee badge from my employer,
3 recent pay stubs.

I would really appreciate your response from anyone who went in similar situation or familiar with the situation.
Thank you in advance

Contact your Senator!
Hi,

I'd like to share my experience here. I and my wife have applied for Adjustment of status I-485 along with I-765 and I-131

USCIS Receipt Date - Oct 18 2016
Biometrics Done - Nov 15 2016

I was worried as no progress were made with all our cases since bio-metrics. I read few comments here that calling Congressman / Senator would help. I called them yesterday (1/24) and they emailed me consent forms. I sent it back the same day. Then this morning I received an email from USCIS stating that both I-765 and I-131 are approved and new card is being produced

Contact Senator - Jan 24 2017
EAD & I-131 Approved - Jan 25 2017

Got approval exactly on 100th day! Now need to patiently wait for 485. Does someone know how long does it usually take?

STEM OPT
Hi All,

I am an F1 student in OPT. Which ends on 28th of January 2017. However I already applied for stem extension and USCIS received my case on 21st December 2016.

My question is: The first time I received my OPT Ead card. There was a document along with the card that said "Use this when applying for an extension to speed up the process" . So I sent this document along with my STEM application. Will this make any difference? Will my application be processed fast?

Any information will help. Thank you

USCIS case status does not recognize my receipt number
Hello everyone!
I recently applied for OPT and they mailed my Notice of Action document with Notice date of November 15, 2016. Since then I have tried many times to check my status in USCIS website but every time is gives me the same error "Validation Error(s)
You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283."
I'm sure I am entering the receipt number correctly. I also tried to call them but I couldn't talk to any real person. I sent my documents to Dallas TX center and it's been more than two months. Can anyone help me about this or share their own experience. Thanks.

EAD card
Hello All

USCIS received my case on October 11, 2016.

Today is 104th day that I still have not received my EAD card!! I called USCIS several times to expedite my case, but my request was denied.

I graduated on December 19, 2016. If I have not received my EAD 2months after graduation (February 19, 2017) I should leave country.

I wonder if there is anyone had the same issue, and how handle it.

Thanks so much!

Need help - EAD still in initial review
Hello everyone,

Applied for EAD - November 07, 2016.
I-797 Receipt - November 11, 2016.

It is 76th day today and I still haven't received my EAD card. I have a job offer and I am asked to join on February 13, 2017.
Today, I have generated a service request but I have no idea how that works. The USCIS online case status portal shows my case as Validation error till date and the USCIS representatives say the application is under normal processing with no negative impacts.

Please help me with this. Also, if anyone is facing the same, problem please inbox me.

Thank you.

My experience so far
My wife and I's official filing date for the I-765/I-130/I-485/I-131 was October 24, 2016. Currently we are at day 88. We are working with an immigration attorney on the entire process of changing status. It is quite frustrating when your lawyer can't give you any additional information on the timeline other than what is shown on the USCIS website.

We have been checking daily our case status, as well as the processing times on the website. Right now, getting the I-765 is most important for us because my wife is going through an interview process for a job, with a very likely offer next week.

I found out that contacting your congressman or senator can help. Today I contacted my state senator's office. They were very helpful, sent me a Privacy Release Form (just information about the applicant, case #, etc.) to fill out and send back to them. They called me back after discussing with USCIS, and confirmed that all the necessary information has been received but has not gotten into the hands of a USCIS officer yet. Also, they stated it is within normal processing time. Since we are at day 88 and it should be completed within 90 days, I am not sure what that means. They did state that if my wife receives the job offer, to call the senator office back, and they will contact USCIS to push the EAD through. There would likely have to be proof of job offer.

Long and frustrating process so far. Very interested in hearing others stories with a similar timeframe as us.
