EAD Renewal Rule Proposed Changes
Hi Everyone,

I know many of you who had visited this site in the past and continue to do so had passed through tough stressful times, threatened with loss of employment and languishing at home waiting for your EAD. This might be light at the end of the tunnel, not yet confirmed though.

http://www.asylumist.com/2016/01/28/easing-the-burden-of-asylum-seekers-a-bit/

USCIS proposed a new rule to renew EADs automatically upon a receipt of renewal applications. The proposed rule invites everyone to participate in this
rulemaking by submitting written data, views, or comments on all
aspects of this proposed rule.

https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2015-12-31/html/2015-32666.htm

You can help by sending your plight, stress and problems you faced due to the current EAD renewal process. Even if you get your EAD now, you may have to renew it next year. So let's help in solving this problem. All you have to do is send your experience and how the current EAD renewal rule affected you

Here is how you can send your views, data, experience and plight. Send an email to

TO: [email protected]
Subject: DHS Docket No. USCIS-2015-0008

The subject line should be as above so it reaches the people who are working on the proposed law

I have sent mine.

Good luck everyone

Processing Centers
I live in Central Florida and sent my family based package to Chicago. My receipts have MSC before the number and come from National Benefits Center in Missouri. I cant find a Missouri processing center on the website to look for time frame. Confused...help !

Checking for updates
I would recommend registering on the case status website and turning on mobile alerts. That way you will get a text when they update your case and you don't have to check all day long. They don't update the site very much...and some of the experiences here are so different. Some are waiting over 90 days for EAD...some are a month. Not sure if the class you are in makes a difference or the service center.

my receipts have NBC as service center which I assume is Nebraska Service Center but the receipts are coming from Missouri. I live in central Florida and sent package to Chicago in the beginning. I am Family Based Immediate/201BINA parent of USC and I have Alien # assigned already

EAD
Just wanted to add that I have already been assigned an Alien# because I am in a class where I am automatically assigned as the parent of an adult US citizen. I don't have to wait for a visa. But this is still taking too long...I need to work

Family based EAD and I485
Here is my story so far as the immediate relative of a US citizen in the USA already in FL

12/13/15 Mailed I130, I485 and I765 paper application and documents to Chicago lockbox
12/17/15 Packaged delivered (sent priority mail with signature verification (HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting proof of delivery for ANYTHING you send them.
1/4/16 Enotification received, checks cashed.
1/7/16 Received all 3 797 Receipts. Forgot to send $85 for Biometrics and they suspended my 485 until payment received.
1/8/16 Mailed $85 Biometric fee and received Biometric appointment in the mail. Appt scheduled for 1/25/16.
1/21/16 Online case status updated that Biometrics fee received..
1/25/16 Went to Biometrics appt . Got notice in mail that Biometrics fee was received and to wait for second Biometric.

2 Biometrics appointments are necessary. EAD is index fingerprint photo and signature. 485 is full fingers photo and signature. Have to go back which is annoying because I llive in a rural area and had to drive 1 1/2 hours to Ft Myers.. If I had sent the money could have done both. I applied for a fee waiver but if didn't cover the 485 fee.

My PD is 12/18 so I am 40 days in and can understand all the anxiety.. My DL is expired and I cant work. A prisoner in my home. Glad to be here with all my fellow anxiety ridden immigrants !!

L2 EAD - 113 days and still counting
I saw people have posted similar experiences where the EAD approval is taking way beyond the normal processing times. So I decided to finally post my experience on this forum, as it has really helped me.

But after 113 days of my initial application I am starting to get nervous about the delay.

I'm L2 EAD (first time application)

Here's the timeline in my case:

Oct 5th 2015: Application mailed via USPS to Texas Service Center(as per my jurisdiction)
Oct 6th 2015: Case received
Oct 8th 2015: Email saying that my case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Vermont Service Center for processing.
Jan 10th 2016: Raised SR
Jan 11th 2016: Case history update "Your inquiry about the status of your Employment Authorization application was assigned to an officer for response."
Jan 11th 2016: Received email saying "The status of your service request is: Based on fluctuations and variables that impact the processing times and for the purpose of interim or final adjudicative processing, the VSC allows 30 days beyond the posted date before the case is considered "Outside of Normal Processing Time" (ONPT).
An additional 30 days must be allowed for adjudicative review and processing before we can request expeditious processing based on an ONPT request. If the application or petition is still pending after 30 days, and once we receive your formal request for expeditious processing, your case will be forwarded to the applicable adjudicative unit for expeditious handling.
Jan 11th 2016: Inquiry about the status of your Employment Authorization application was completed.

Since Oct 2015 the case status page showed as Case Received. On Jan 27th it is changed to RFE.

Jan 27th 2016: Request for Additional Evidence Was Mailed.

Now I am waiting for the mail to arrive to see what "additional" evidence is required.

Anyone with similar status and timeline updates?

Also it would be of help if you could tell what additional evidence they normally ask for? Or does it differ case by case?

113 days and still counting.

Will update further.

January 13th: case assigned, received and completed
January 19th: receive a mail that my case is under review by an immigration officer, decision would beake shortly.
January 25th: card is being produced (90th day)
January 26th: case was approved.

I'm waiting to get an update that my card has been sent..my case is in Missouri
This forum has been a great help and inspiration to me.
