Form I-765 mailed , no acknowledgement yet even after a week
Hi ,

I have been following the Immihelp forums , and have been of great help.. Thanks for all those working behind to keep the forum active and running.

I have mailed my Form I-765 along with G-1185 (notification ) to Phoenix lock box on 28th September.. I currently reside on Phoenix , and understand from UPS courier that the package has reached USICS on 29th September..

Today is 6th October, and the 7th day since the USICS has received my form. I have not received any acknowledgement or receipt from USICS till date.

Also , I could see my money order has not been encashed or authorised till date.

When I call the USICS contact center , they tell me , it takes a average of 15-30 days to acknowledge.

Day passes by , I am getting nervous on the state of my EAD application.

Could some one let me know ,

1) if this delay of 7 days is okay , or is there any addressal mechanism to get my application acknowledged.
2) Also, Can you please let me know the average time , taken by Phoenix USICS center to process and approve the EAD application.

Thanks,
Mahesh Sugavanam

My EAD experience
I am a trainee doctor. I came to the US on a J2 visa. I was offered a clinical fellowship (medical) in a hospital in the USA. My work involves taking care of patients. I needed the EAD to join the fellowship. Applied to the Vermont Service Center. 1st time EAD applicant. I was under the assumption that since my hospital was a “not for profit organization” and my line of work was in the “social and cultural interests” of the US, my expedite request would be approved without much of a problem. But the process took unusually longer than I anticipated.

I had to involve the congressman of my area and also the immigration lawyer in my hospital. I was happy that the card got approved 20 days earlier than the usual processing time. But I do think it was a lot of effort and stress before the EAD was finally obtained. Thankfully, my hospital did not have a problem in waiting a few more days me to begin my work.

Advice to EAD applicants: The expedite process can be nerve wrecking. Even if your criteria is 100% genuine, the expedite request might not always be granted. Working through the congressman and/or your immigration lawyer helps. But I do have a feel USCIS is slow even in approving genuine expedite cases. People who have applied for an expedite and waiting, hang in there. I completely understand how frustrating the process can be.

Fellowship actual start date- August 1, 2015

June 2- Landed in the US on a J2 visa, fedexed EAD documents to USCIS
June 3- USCIS received documents and case created
June 26- Expedite request- over phone by self to the national service center (without biometrics)
June 30- Expedite rejected (without biometrics)
July 1- Called Congressman’s office
July 3- Submitted documents/ privacy release form at Congressman’s office
July 6- Congressman’s office emaied USCIS
July 9- USCIS replies to congressman’s email with Biometrics Appointment as a PDF file
July 9- Completed biometrics (walk in)
July 10- 2nd expedite request over phone by self (with biometrics completed)
July 11- Receive biometrics appointment by postal mail!
July 15- 2nd expedite request denied
July 16- Called immigration attorney and submitted all documents to immigration lawyer
July 20- Expedite request from lawyer to USCIS center- email
July 28- Expedite reconsideration from Congressman
July 28- Expedite request from lawyer to USCIS center- fedexed
July 31- 3rd expedite request over phone by self

I-765 Approved.
Hi everyone, I've got a quick question..

Aug 3rd, 2015 I had my biometrics appointment
Sep 2nd, 2015 I received notice that my interview was scheduled for Oct 1, 2015.
Sep 18 (today), my I-765 status changed: 'Card/Document Production"

My interview is in 2 weeks. Why would they be sending out my employment card before my interview? Is this normal? What happens if I fail my interview?

Positive Experience J2 EAD Renewal
Putting up my positive experience to hopefully give hope to those applying and hopefully encouragement to those checking USCIS multiple times daily like I was for an update!

I'm a J2 EAD renewal at the WAC center:

June 26th - Posted Application
June 29th - USCIS received notice via txt I think or a day or two later. This is the day they got my application though.
*received my letter probably 3-5 days after I got the text (can't remember exactly)
September 7th - Card ordered
September 8th - Case Approved
September 12th - Letter received
September 13th - Card received

Last year as a J1 EAD applicant at WAC I was super lucky and got it in 45 days from date I sent application. I was hopeful it would be the same or less this year as a renewal but I think the system was flooded by H4 applicants (who I'm super happy for) so it took longer. Only thing was I was over two months off work as sadly I couldn't apply early enough to prevent this lapse as we were waiting on my husband to get a job confirmed so we could get new DS2019s so that I could apply for renewal. Frustrating but I know I'm still very lucky to a) be able to work and b) get approval under 90 days so I'm not complaining it is just always a frustrating process when you want to be working. But thanks to WAC center for getting me processed under 90 days as I'm excited to get back to work!

Good luck everyone else waiting!

EAD Receipt Notice returned to USCIS
I applied L2 EAD on Jul 31st and receipt notice was not delivered to me and returned to USCIS on Sep 1st. When I contacted USCIS, they asked me to raise a request and wait for another 30 days. If no processing done, I will have to raise another request is the update given from Customer Support.

My Case status shows that receipt notice returned to USCIS , since USPS could not deliver and it may have serious effect on the case. But I have not moved from the mailing address and staying with the same address.

Can anyone let me know if this will affect my EAD moving to the next level?

EAD delays
Hello!

My EAD is at about 95 days, and showing no signs of changing. Has been showing 'Case Was Received' the whole time. I submitted an enquiry at 75 days, and the Case History says that they replied to me on the same day. But I never received an email.

It's getting very stressful, as I have several great work opportunities lined up that may now need to be cancelled. Is there a number I can call to find out about my case enquiry, or do I just have to submit another enquiry?!

Does anybody know if a request for initial evidence on the I-485 case can delay the EAD processing?
